On Defense DE/OLB is more talented now than it was 12 months ago. As is DT. LB is a push. Safety is a push. CB is more talented at all three of the top CB roster slots and the depth was just as bad last year as it is this year.

Yeah, I think getting rid of AJ Brown is addition by subtraction. At this point, I think Wicks is a better player for us. Not a better player in general, but a better player for this team.

Well in fairness to @eagle45 he did say talented rather than better. AJ is definitely more talented than Wicks.

Jerruh usually keeps his third QB on the PS. Timing of cuts today reflect that for Milton and probably some of the others.

So we are chalking it up as a given that Lane and Barkley are better simply because of 4 extra weeks of offseason? The longer offseason is nice, but you realize how absurd it is to call a position better in an analysis of two different rosters (compounded by another year of age) because of 4 extra weeks in the offseason?

And Hurts is better because he’ll run more? You know the list of QBs in nfl history that start running more and better in their 7th year in the nfl?

It's not just 4 extra weeks of an offseason. It's four less weeks of daily practices and playing in three games. But I agree you cannot just write off the age factor. I think it's reasonable to assume Barkley will be worse than in 2024 but better than 2025.

You are making assumptions that players no teams attribute any value to outside of Philly can be meaningful non problematic starters here.

If TE2 was a pure in line blocker then they’d be an OL. Just as receiving from a TE isn’t that valuable if they can’t be at least a viable blocker, blocking from a TE isn’t that viable if they can’t command some level of coverage should they actually run a route. And a TE that is as effective receiving as Stowers is blocking doesn’t exactly fit that bill.

This roster simply isn’t as talented as what we normally see. You can insult me or call me negative all you want. It just isn’t.

It seems you're using the word "hole" when you mean it's a concern. A hole means they don't have someone at the position, or who they have is so bad it's worthless. Last year CB2 was a hole, with some poor attempts to fill it.

RT is not a "hole" on the roster. Lane is a HOF beast, still playing great when healthy. They have Fred Johnson a reliable veteran backup, when he's taken over at RT he's done well, and they have rookie Markell Bell who has shined and is already being talked about as Lane's long-term replacement (too soon to say that, but there's a lot of potential there). They are actually deep at that position.

LG isn't a "hole." It's got a great player who had injury problems. If he's healthy, a great starter. I do agree it's a concern, but not a "hole." Kendall played well and there's been talk of him being able to step in and start for Dickerson if he gets hurt.

TE isn't a "hole" but I do agree concerning because if Goedert gets hurt, there isn't great pass catching guys there, but they did upgrade the TE2 with a better blocker, which TE blocking was a huge problem last year. That will help the run game. Stowers was supposed to add the passing element and obviously that hasn't worked out so far. But too soon to write off a rookie.

Safety isn't a hole. Epps is a decent veteran, Mukuba was fine. Fangio likes Carter. It sounds like you want stud All Pro players at every position which is unrealistic. They will have a top 5 defense, 2 stud corners, 2 stud DTs and a great LB group. If the safeties are JAGS and just don't screw up they will still be a top defense.

At WR, it's obvious that with the new scheme they are going to spread the ball around. They didn't replace WR2 with a 1,000 yard receiver. They added Hollywood Brown, Wicks, Moore and Lemon, and Cooper had a good camp and preseason. It's definitely a concern, especially with the new offense. We haven't seen the starters on offense in any real game action and there should be expected growing pains. The O line is healthier and has more depth, and they have a great RB combo with Barkley and Bigsby so if that is successful it takes pressure off the offense. The OC not being a complete moron is also a huge upgrade.

There are concerns, but every team has concerns. Most NFL rosters are worse than ours.
