I couldn't find the exact source I read it from a few months ago but this is the Falcons Director of Football Communications

https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/what-is-the-nfl-international-player-pathway-program

From Yahoo Sports.

Teams participating in the International Player Pathway(IPP) program can have 91-man rosters during the offseason. They can also have a 17th practice squad member for the season, but if signed to the practice squad, that player can't be signed to the regular season roster; however, starting in 2024 he can be elevated for up to three games. If the player is kept on the 53-man roster, he is subject to waiver rules.

Looks like they may have added 3 elevations and an exception to the protection.

That doesn't make much sense either. "if the player is kept on the 53-man roster, he is subject to waiver rules". Why would he be on waivers if he is kept on the 53 man roster?

Wow, he looks so different. I didn't think I was gone THAT long. I'd never have recognized him if I didn't know his name and profession!

Howie just doesn’t want to take the L and have to cut Dalton who he gave up a pick for or cut McKee who he turned down good picks for in the past.

He will try to get a pick for one of them come hell or high water.

I like this.

You can know this, because I "Like'd" it.

Short term can be read two ways and his referencing the McCord trade makes me think a potential trade is in the works.

Well done Howie

Roster bubble players have to be really difficult for all these teams because they have guys they want - which is why they stash them on the practice squad. But they have difficult choices to make. Sometimes they let someone go and they go on to do ok with other teams. A lot of times they get it right, sometimes wrong. It's a gamble at times.

IMO the current regime bought trust because of their success. No, it doesn't mean we will agree with every move. But they have access to much more information than we do. Details from practice, film study, how they are in team meetings with their preparation, specific athletic traits they may have or not have they they value, scheme fit, etc. etc.

What matters is how the team performs in regular season games. Some of these guys will see no playing time unless there's an injury, they're just there for depth.

The starters are very solid, there really aren't any major concerns at any starting position. I said "major." (Example last year CB2 was a major concern, which proved a problem all year...and yet the defense still played great overall). There are some weaker positions for sure, and injury is always a concern for any team so saying if so and so gets injured they're screwed, that's true for every team.

Howie presser...

  • All four QBs have value to the team. Some short-term, some long-term. Such a valuable position. The lost McCord off the PS last season and was just traded for a sixth.

  • Talks up E.J. Jenkins. Former receiver, built up body, really good point-of-attack and pass protection.

  • Lemon and Stowers - no doubt in their abilities.

  • Weru and Bernard - They looked at the tape that was available for other teams to help inform their decision.

He doesn't want people use Mailata as an example which is fair

But Mailata just shows you the possibility

What starter do you think is a hole?

LG, RT, S, WR2. The 11th man on offense, shared between WR3 and TE2 isn’t looking so settled either.

I refuse to believe they can get anything for Dalton until I actually see it. That means McKee is the guy getting traded which means we are stuck with Dalton as #2. I just don't see how Howie can look at this situation and believe Dalton should be #2. I will try and be optimistic and believe Dalton will be the one gone.

The steal of waivers was Toriano Pride. Someone probably got a starting caliber CB there even if only a nickel. I think it was Atlanta?

And hopefully, Reiger for us.

A few years ago some were interested in Amagadjie so hopefully he is the next project OT that actually works out. Basically replaced our other project OT that got snagged.

Milton would interest me more than who they have. Can't believe they cut him.

Browns. Poor guy.

No one including us has signed Steele?

Where is Dom DeLuca at?

Pride would’ve checked some boxes, namely 4.3 speed.

Reiger is a good fit, just older and lacking thump.

Signing for the Ravens PS, according to the Athletic

Howie doesn't give a crap. He has 2 rings, lifetime security.

Whatever motivates him, it's not saving face.

Reiger is an interesting addition, edge rusher who needs to bulk up and improve technique but is explosive.
