Another point- for a team trying to heavily invest in 2 TE sets, its even less important to keep 6 WRs.

Also for a team looking to invest in 2 TE sets it would be prudent, when drafting on day 2, to select a TE that is at minimum a capable blocker and ideally a good to very good blocker

Yep. I hope Stowers turns into Darren Waller minus the off-field issues, but I can’t believe Howie watched our TEs struggle to block a single soul last year and decided to invest a second-round pick on a big slot. It was such a great TE draft too.

Howie completely botched the TE situation this off-season in a way he rarely botches things and it goes way beyond drafting Eli Stowers. As far as Stowers goes I"m just going to get this out of the way. He was the 2nd ranked TE in the draft by most people and I have seen a ton of revisionist history with that after he had a poor camp. Either way, it was a well known fact that he was a former QB with limited TE experience, little to no experience being used as a blocker, and a bit of a project who probably wasn't going to contribute early on. Maybe he's a little further behind than we all would have hoped but this shouldn't be some surprise.

The problem is/was if you are going to draft a TE with his profile for a team who is trying to win now, you better have better options behind your old injury prone starter than Johnny Mundt, Grant Calcaterra, and EJ Jenkins. The draft is about 2-3 years from now not the current season so right now (TE's often taking a while to develop) the mistake wasn't taking Stowers necessarily, it was the lack of attention to the position behind Goedert along with drafting a a guy who they damn well knew was a great athlete but a bit of project.

Exactly. DG is good but always injured. If you want a project go for it but get a good TE who can pass and catch while he learns. Especially, after watching the crap last year

That remains to be seen…Jackson was not nearly as bad as some make it out to seem. The main issue was the depth behind him when he got dinged. That hasn’t changed and potentially got worse. We had a top 5 D by just about every metric last year…with an O that kept them on the field way too often. I hope Woolen turns it around, but it’s not a for sure upgrade though at all.

It is hard to believe how fast time flies and how short our memory is.....and toss in how f'ing selfish AJ Brown is. We are like 18 months away from that domination, our second Super Bowl and between Patullo and AJ....we are now acting like this team sucks. This is why I don't even get angry any more.....we have 2 Super Bowls and I thought I would die without ever seeing one! As for TE, Stowers is injured and didn't show that he is playable. So they decided to keep Jenkins rather that risk him signing elsewhere. Same goes for keeping Moore as a backup for Lemon.

Totally agree that Howie is currently thinking of ways to get something for these dudes but I don’t think McKee is better than Milton. In fact I don’t think it’s really close. That’s not saying I think Milton is amazing but McKee is horrendous. JMO
