May 23May 23 The good thing is the debate will be settled by the end of the 2026 season one way or another. Either Hurts is going to come out of the season looking really bad or Sirianni/Patullo are going to come out of the season looking really bad.If the offense works and Hurts looks like a different QB and the offense looks like a real NFL offense that schemes guys open and moves the ball then Sirianni and Patullo are going to look totally clueless and the narrative that "We had to run an offense this rigidly because Hurts is only comfortable with one offense" will prove to be invalid. And make them look incompetent that they couldn't get Hurts and an offense comfortable with a new scheme when a dude who's never run an offense before did it in one offseason. On the other hand if the offense sucks and Hurts plays a lot like he did last year except the scheme is different then it's going to make him look bad. That he's either unwilling or unable to adapt or frankly he's just not that good anymore, and we'll look back at 2022 as a lightning in a bottle season that he never quite reached and after that was just a decent QB who had 3 really amazing playoff games in a pool of mediocrity.Either way we'll have our answers. And that's good because it'll allow Howie to plan accordingly going forward.

That's the whole point of the post. The better you are the less it matters to people. See: Saquon.
May 23May 23 It will be very interesting to finally hear about whatever went down in 2023 that caused AJ to have a personal problem with Hurts.

They'll blame anything and everything except Hurts

They'll blame anything and everything except HurtsI’m willing to give him this season; he’s earned that much. I do, however, already see signs that he’s a declining asset and if he doesn’t perform quite a bit better than last year I’m dead set against giving him any type of contract extension. He’s made strides as a passer but he’s irritatingly inconsistent, even from drive-to-drive within the same game. If he fully embraces Mannion’s system I haven’t given up hope we’ll see a better distributor of the ball. A re-emergence from Barkley and the OL will also contribute.

I routinely forget he’s even on the roster still.
