I'd say the same for the people in here having a circle jerk about how bad Wentz is playing

Wentz has never been a settle in the pocket composed kind of guy, even when he’s had protection. He’s always come out too amped. Now with a bad O line and some pretty serious past injuries he’s worse, frantic, not reading the field, inaccurate. Its a bad deal all around. Doug should sit him but contrary to what he says I don’t think its his call.

At 3:20, jeff saturday starts to talk about carson's struggles. He mentioned that 32 of the 40 times carson has been sacked came after 4 seconds. That's abysmal. He needs to get rid of the F'ing ball. But you all knew that already.

Is that an official stat? Is that right that 32 of the sacks have been after 4 seconds? If so that is astounding. I mean the OL has been bad, really bad at times but if that's an accurate stat then wow. With a bad OL the ball needs to be coming out quicker.

A big part of the reason he’s holding on to the ball for 4 seconds is because our plays don’t get receivers open. This has been written about and said over and over. Doug asks our receivers to go out there and beat the defenders instead of scheming them open and our receivers simply can’t do it. So that leaves Wentz with either 1. Throw a ball hoping for a contested catch(he did plenty of first 8 games which led to INTs and him being labelled trying to be a hero) 2. Hold on to the ball waiting for a sure pass.

Wentz slurpers please explain that.

The fact that the best playcall they can point to is this tells you how ridiculous our plays have been.

1. Alshon is not open. Ward is right there on the inside of him because they have no route to draw Ward deep. He could easily step in to intercept/breakup the pass. Best case scenario Carson has to throw a perfectly accurate pass to a tight window on the outside of Jeffrey and hope he can make a sideline catch. Wentz confidence is already low given his accuracy issues this year and now you’re asking him to trust his arm and a receiver that hasn’t caught a single pass in over a year.

2. Goedert is also clearly not open. They point to a patch of open grass ahead of goedert but you can clearly see the defender on him step by step. Again poor route design with no design to draw the defender elsewhere. You’re asking Carson to throw an accurate pass and hope for a contested catch.

Where are the crossing routes? The slants? Anything across the middle where we can cause some confusion/hesitation in the defense to open someone up. None as expected, Doug simply asks his players to go out and beat the defenders 1 on 1.

You see this whole post is bunk, every single pass attempt is a potential interception, receivers aren't going to be running wild and free that often, you have to beat defenses with timing, trajectory, accuracy and pace of the ball and if you're going to make it in the NFL, you have to make tight window throws.

The Jeffery route, you throw a fastball to the sideline right at the 39 yard mark, there's no way anyone that isn't Jeffery catches it, it's not even a hard throw, and you have the 1st Down.

The Goedert throw, you lay it in front of him to about the 35 shaded to the outside and he dives for it,  you can see the safety is in the middle of the field on the 30 he isn't going to make it across unless he can teleport,  Goedert doesn't need a yard of separation from the CB before you can throw, he just needs an accurate throw

Carson leads the league in sacks, interceptions, and fumbles. Has anyone ever won the triple crown?

My goodness Enablers, maybe it's still the concussion, maybe it's the OL, maybe it's the receivers, maybe.....maybe....MAYBE HE just ISN'T VERY GOOD.

Saturday said 32 yesterday. This guy says it's 33....

So these articles with the unnamed sources, you never know.  But FWIW here's the summary of the points in the article.

  • Doug's plan is to give Carson 1 receiver to throw to on a play so he doesn't have to go through reads.
  • Defenses quickly caught on to that and are blitzing and applying pressure to force him to make reads.
  • A defensive teammate says that the reports of sloppy practices are not true, that he practices well but doesn't perform in the games.
  • The teammate also said that with Press Taylor out for COVID protocol, Doug was more critical and vocal toward Wentz
  • Since Wentz is unsure and lacks confidence, he's started going to veteran players like Ward, Goedert and Rodgers instead of young WRs (do the numbers back that up?)
  • Defensive teammate also says he trusts his TEs more than his WRs

What do you guys think?

Pederson (speaking right now) on if he's decided to bench Wentz for Monday's game..."Not today on Wednesday". He then clarified and said, begrudgingly, he will start on Monday.

But hooooooooooooooo boy he really sounded like he's giving it some thought.

So its like a few of us thought: doug is pretty much holding his hand and doing everything he can to make wentz not-so-accountable....SMH

HOW exactly do you teach a QB not to go through reads??? SMMFH

Yeah... we're really close to Doug benching Wentz.

I'd say if Carson sh**s the bed against the 32nd pass defense on Monday he's out.

So based on Doug’s seeming hesitance to answer if Carson is starting monday, I’m thinking that either Doug or Howie want to stick with Wentz, and the other wants to go to Hurts. I think it’s a bit of a power struggle on that.

Based on the reports about how Doug has basically been trying to dumb things down for Carson and being more critical of him lately... I’m thinking Doug wants to make the change, but Howie is insisting that he stick with Wentz for now, due to the contract.

All conjecture obviously but that’s my read.

Wow! The discussions have obviously been had between Doug, Howie and Lurie and I think the time is coming now. I think Carson may be benched on Monday night if he plays as badly as he has been and the team is in a hole. The fact that Doug is hesitant and in fact openly says that he has some tough decisions to make...

Yeah... I’m going to go ahead now and say that I think it’s 50/50 whether Wentz actually gets the start on Monday.

Doug is terrible in press conferences to begin with.    But yeah the fact that he even says it like it's an option shows he has at least considered it.

I'm not sure I would go that far yet. I think he starts, I think he plays at least the first half or even the first 3 quarters but if the trend continues then yeah I can see them sitting him. I'm not sure that then means he is benched though and could see him then starting the next game but things are moving.
