Here I don't think he's trying to avoid Lemon getting blown up, but just avoiding a PBU or pick by the ILB if he leads Lemon any further.

That is a bad argument. Because Joe Milton can also get you a draft pick. He’s a restricted free agent at the end of the year. So if technically Milton actually played decent, somebody might sign him to a restricted offer sheet and get you a pick. So if the logic we’re using is going to get picks for starting guys, you can make that for either one of those quarterbacks. It’s a bad argument.

Lemon wouldn't get blown up (he still did) or B. so it wouldn't be intercepted (it still almost was). The delusional over this guy is hilarious. He had the most time in the pocket last night of any of the QB's BY FAR and was going up against the worst defense they have seen all year and had an average at best game.

I think they used him better than they have. Made some tough catches through contact. Not sure why everyone needs to dial up the hyperbole up to 11 with the guy though. I've heard "He looked great/amazing" and the "Where are the Lemon haters now???"The dude had like 70 yards, not 200 yards. It's so bizarre that people are ready to call Mukuba a bust already, but for Lemon to be considered playing well he just needs to get open on a few plays a game and not actually catch passes, and for Lemon to be considered playing great and "silencing the haters!" he just needs to have one game against maybe the worst defense in the NFL and put up 70 yards. The correct take is: he's been very disappointing up until last night and finally showed progress. That's it, that's all you need to say.Horrible take. People blasted Hurts for not hitting him in big situations when he was open but he is disappointing? Just stop.

Where he gets fired and still gets a HC job next season.I'm sure his agent would want get those reports out there. Stefanski won COTY twice. Most wins Steichen has had in Indianapolis is 9 wins, his best year and not even then did they make the playoffs. I'm sure he might get some interviews as a lot of guys do. But I don't think there is a team out that that will likely hire him as a HC outside of maybe the Eagles. I think there is a greater chance he would be available for OC than he would be landing a HC job.

It speaks to a lack of understanding from some fans of just how different the game is at the pro level compared to college if they're jumping to those sorts of conclusions after 3 games.

Considering the dysfunction this team has been stuck in all season long he is doing perfectly fine and it's ok to give him credit for having a really good game last night.

He had the most time in the pocket last night of any of the QB's BY FAR and was going up against the worst defense they have seen all year and had an average at best game. Why I made the point earlier today, if the Eagles are truly just evaluating everybody and getting as much information as possible in a lost season, then at some point in time, you should probably start Milton just to see what he is. Clearly, they were intrigued enough to sign him from Dallas and I’m guessing it’s based off what their draft grade was on him. It’s why I put out there.Imo I would give Tanner four games. Which goes into the bye week. See what he is. See if he is progressing. If he’s not progressing and he’s similar or worse, then I make the switch to Milton. Not because Milton’s any good. But I am guessing they want to know more info on him and evaluate him. Plus it gives two weeks to prepare him as the starter. Add on he’s been in the system now for a month so he’s more comfortable when he has more stuff that you can ask him to do or that he can tell you he’s comfortable with. And I give him four games. At the end of that four game with Milton, I looked to see if the offensive line has gotten better. If guys like Smith, wicks and Barkley are healthy. I may make the decision to start payton at that point. Because if you’re healthier on your offensive lines, it is looking better, guys are healthier and he’s not gonna just get absolutely overwhelmed and destroyed out there.
October 27Oct 27 I'm not going to keep addressing this homer BS excuse making and idiocy because it's getting repetitive at this point, but for the final time: yes, if players don't produce, they're disappointing. Can be a homer and make excuses all you want, but if he was a Cowboy he would be ripped for looking awful. By that logic, a WR could finish the season with 0 catches, but wouldn't be considered disappointing if he was open at points during games. The two 3 most impressive WRs in the rookie class so far have probably been Denzel Boston, KC Concepcion, and Omar Cooper and each play in crap offenses with crap QBs. So that's not a viable excuse either. Every WR in the NFL gets open to some degree, Lemon has been no more open than any WR in the NFL. Darius Cooper has been open too. You think Lemon is the only WR in the NFL who has gotten a few yards of separation on plays and didn't get the ball? This happens on almost every Fing play, but I've never heard this so beaten to death until this season. It's ok to admit he's been disappointing and also acknowledge he can still be a good NFL player. If you can't even admit the former then you're just not being objective.

Stowers on the other hand, with EMW staring at you in the face was the no brainer of the draft. Was willing to take him late 1st round. Was dumb considering the Q connection who is your cornerstone here. And they knew coaches and reports on him. That was mystifying. Howie's had those moments alot the last couple of years, where I just shake my head and raise my eyebrows. Way too many times. In the meantime, I was screaming for 2 safeties all offseason. Did not get one!

Rookies take time usually. A guy like Q is very rare, especially outside the top 15 picks. The key is seeing progress and we are seeing that with Lemon (and Bell). But having someone producing in years 2-4 of a rookie deal is the most valuable asset in the NFL.

He had the most time in the pocket last night of any of the QB's BY FAR and was going up against the worst defense they have seen all year and had an average at best game.Again, the issue wasn't ball placement. In this case it was timing, Lemon is the right read, and he flashed open coming out of the break, but that's when the ball needed to come out, before the lane started to shrink. By the time he decided to throw it, his only option was to put it on his back shoulder to avoid the ILB making a play on it.So yeah, it's a bad pass, but because of timing, not ball placement or an improper read. Call it semantics if you want, but it's a mistake a lot of young QBs are going to make.
October 27Oct 27 Last point on DeVonta (please learn to spell his name) and why there’s no chance we deal him. He’s a legit number 1 receiver (when healthy) under contract for a fully guaranteed $22 million in 2027. That’s way below market (at least 35%). That is an INSANELY valuable asset. No world where we trade him for less than a 1st and a day 2 pick. And no chance someone offers that with uncertainty on how much he contributes this year to a run.

But then the 2nd paragraph reads they could trade him in the right deal. Do I understand that correctly?

But he’s here 2 more years and might be sick of this offense himself. He might leave on his own. Everyone has a price that makes it worth it.
October 27Oct 27 1 hour ago, e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! said:First off I don’t think it’s exactly just a coaching staff making the decision that Milton is the backup. I think this goes beyond just a coaching staff. I think this goes back to Howie is the one who signed him and picked him up. I think this goes to the Eagles had a higher grade on him during his draft time. And they liked him enough that they were gonna pick him up. And they believe if something happened to McKee that he could go in there and start for a couple of games or if McKee stunk or things went off the rails they’d want to evaluate him more.Secondly, you didn’t draft payton to start him as a rookie. You drafted him to develop him so that he could become a competent backup over the course of his four-year rookie contract like they tried to do with McKee. The Eagles didn’t draft him back in April and be like you know what Jalen gets hurt we’re gonna play him right away. He was always gonna be the third string quarterback this year (heck at times he was 4th string).Third, if you don’t trust the coaching staff, what makes you believe you should trust them with a rookie quarterback who doesn’t have much experience playing over the last 5 years, wasn’t even in top tier college football. More likely hurt his confidence and stunt his growth with this staff.Fourth, not putting a rookie quarterback out there right now behind a bad offensive line, down to your 6th running back and your two starting wide receivers and bad coaching. just hoping based off his 13 games of college experience he’s just gonna be fine and survive that? That is how you screw up a kids development.Fifth your last paragraph I 100% agree with you. It is why i think Milton eventually gets some playing time after the bye week. I think Payton they don’t want to have to play him right now due to how bad everything around him is and little experience. I think later in the year that may be a discussion if guys like wicks, smith, Barkley are all healthy and oline shows improvement. I think right now they don’t wanna do it cause they know he’s not ready and everything going on with injuries/OLYour 2nd point, of course they didn’t, but as a team you gotta take the small good that comes with the bad of this season. That’s a total org thing, beyond the coaching staff that’s coaching for their jobs.I can see the development point. Plenty of young QBs have been "ruined” playing in bad situations.
October 27Oct 27 Pretend you didn't even know the name of this person. Would you give a 30 yr old WR $35M per year that will likely take him to his 33 yr old season? Who is small and now has had hamstring issues for a half a season. And the franchise likely sucks for at least 2 years here going forward. We are just dealing with probabilities here. No certainty here. But some good guess work.If Tyreek Hill can be traded at 28 years old in his prime. A Mahomes top target. A KC legend by many. They would love to have him back BTW, if he was healthy. Any trade can happen here. Need to open your minds here. Been a big fan of Devanta. But that aside. There needs to be a correct blueprint here going forward. With who gets the huuuuge dough. Somebody has gotten way off course here the last 2 years. And needs to recorrect. Massively.
