By the way, is there any question after last night that McKee should have always been left alone as the QB2 for this team instead of continually trading for worse QBs and putting them ahead of him on the depth chart?

That, I think we as eagles fans will never, ever be able to figure out.

He looked like a good QB2 last night.

Keep in mind the QB3 basically gets no reps in practice throughout the year. McKee has repeatedly been buried at 3 on the depth chart mostly unable to meaningfully practice, ever. He could likely be so much further along in development. The eagles had his career on life support for seemingly no reason at all. Good for him for persevering and still looking like an excellent backup. And bouncing back from his week 18 performance last year.

I thought Dalton and Tanner were just flipping in practice? Not saying I agree with the approach but I thought he did get some practice as the #2?

Agreed that the whole Dalton thing was a bad idea though

I don’t know how intriguing or not intriguing he is. But I need info on him. To me everything from here on out as an evaluation. We’re not winning the NFC East. We’re not winning a Super Bowl. We’re not going anywhere this year. So to me, I want to evaluate as many players as I can. unfortunately for McKee it’s highly unlikely he’s back next year. At least with Milton if he shows you something when you’re evaluating him and he gets better over the course of the season, you could bring him back as a backup.

I remember the time, when the tone on the dialogue here was Hurts was the #1 problem. Well now it is confirmed. The offense stinks (especially OL, RB and TE). The coaching stinks. The defense was mid. But now stinks. No. They aren't tired. 🤣 Even special teams stink (minus Mann & Elliott). Last of all, Howie stinks. Confirmed.

Me and @Diehardfan were sitting here telling you that Hurts was on the bottom of the list. Nope. The haters will have to die on that hill. Can only wish to find a replacement that good. Top 10-15 QB doesn't grow on trees. Enjoy your 4-13 uncompetitive doormat franchise.

If we are going to make a change at head coach, I know guys like Doyle or another offensive play caller will be hot names. And I would be thrilled if Doyle came here. But…hear me out.

Any coach here has to allow Howie to control the roster, and that likely hurts us with guys who have multiple options. One name - a guy who has limited options and may be blackballed - is coaching the best defense in the NFL for an undefeated team.

How do we feel about Brian Flores? I would love to see his defense with our players.

Agree Flores should be high on the list, especially since we (supposedly) have good young building blocks on D.

Separately, there's another guy out there who has limited options and may be blackballed. He's older and was a great offensive mind, and was here long ago as a boy wonder OC. It may finally be time to bring the prodigal son home to be our head coach...

but before that, Pickett as well... McKee was definitely better and everyone could see it.

Then he's a clown too. But the track record is not the same, unless McVay has had numerous altercations with opposing fans and players, or even his own fans and players.

I can't say I've seen any of that, but I know he has come off as whiney and overly emotional after some losses. Nick is a mirror of Eagles fans, so I find it amusing when fans don't like him.

My only explanation I can imagine is that Dalton was some sort of crutch for Mannion... not sure why he couldn't have done that as QB3, unless promises were made.

One thing that bothers me is that we have guys playing in games that are clearly laboring and shouldn’t be out there. Saquon should not have been out there. It was obvious to everyone. Neither should hunt when you go back and watch that game and look at how he is running and how he’s moving. They’re out there because I’m guessing they are true team guys, and they want to help their teammates.

But at the same time it’s the job of the coaches and medical staff to save them from themselves. Long-term, you might be damaging them more by playing them with these injuries that could get even worse.

I get coaches are gonna try to save their job by trying to win games. But to me, lurie is not gonna go back and be like they did beat Dallas in week 7 even though it didn’t really matter in the end. To me, I think Lurie would be more impressed if you sat those guys, the guys you had behind them you coached them up and they got better through the course of the year and so by the end of the season, you saw improvements out of those guys. To me if I’m lurie, I go you guys are running guys out there who are clearly shouldn’t be out there trying to save your job has an adverse effect. Cause you’re really not thinking about the long-term health of the player or the organization but trying to win games to try to make me say we really should keep you.

Dylan Stewart EDGE looks like a game-wrecker. A lot of flash in his film. Probably need to be drafting top 5 to get him.

This. Hopefully they pull the plug on all the walking wounded like Barkley and Hunt now that the season is obviously lost.

I agree with this and I’ll add a reason. Assuming Jalen is healthy and back in 2027, Milton makes more sense as a backup QB where the game plan doesn’t have to wildly change. I prefer mobile backups because they can come off the bench and make plays with their legs, so the lack of reps during the week is less impactful.

I was thinking just play McKee the bulk of the season and then give Payton some reps toward the end, but you make a good argument I hadn't thought about Milton being here next season. If they happen to not draft a QB this year then next year is Hurts/Milton/Payton and then draft one in 2028.

Letting Barkley back onto the field after he's hobbling off multiple times was crazy. I don't attribute that to toughness. That's reckless. Coaches and/or trainers should have said no

Forget Stewart. We should be looking at Colin Simmons. Yes, it's realistic, as we could easily have a top-3 pick.

I think it speaks to Barkley as a teammate and as a football player. He wants to be out there whether he’s injured or not. It’s less to me that he’s been sitting out because the Eagles are just bad and he doesn’t wanna play or that the Eagles don’t wanna play him. I think his injury was still lingering, but he wanted to get out there cause he knew they needed him. I love Saquon for that. Because we saw last night on the defense they had guys out there that were healthy. That really didn’t look like they wanted to play in that game. But reality is now we’re not going anywhere. I’d rather you go on IR and heal up, and if it’s better by the end of the year, maybe bring you back. But really the focus for him is to get himself fully healthy so that for 2027 he’s good to go.

Yeah me too. Been saying that for a week or so. Give Tanner the Bye week, then see what Milton has, as he could be QB2 here next season. Ya never know!! 😆😝

About Tanner McKee, I've always liked him as a backup and always said he never got a chance with the starters to see what he really can be. He had a bad game last year that tainted him for many fans. Last night was a tough circumstance even though the Cowboys have an awful defense. The O line probably had their best game of the year but you still have a hobbled Dickerson and 2 young new starters still learning in Kendall (6th round 2nd year) and Bell (3rd round rookie). His top 2 WRs out, a practice squad RB in Pierce. Barkley gave spark early then re-aggravated his injury immediately. But at least he produced while he was in there. What would this look like with Smitty, Wicks, Bigsby, Shipley healthy? Even Goedert seems to always have a nagging injury.

I thought McKee showed some good things, and frankly Mannion did too with some improved play calling. I think Mannion might just need the whole year to really get more experience. The people in the building working closely with him will know how he is in meetings and practice and more than what we see. I think one problem with coaching is not adjusting to what the defense is doing. McKee and the offense were moving the ball and scoring and then things fell apart. McKee can't be held to the same standard as a veteran starter, but he's also been with the team for years. So if the defense is picking up on McKee's tendencies or the play calling, that's on coaches (whether the QB is Hurts, McKee or anyone) to adjust the play calling to help the QB. For stepping into this situation, McKee did well. I previously said you can't truly judge off a small sample size however it goes, need to see more but I think he showed some good things.

Think you win the division. Don't trust the Giants. Even with that division lead they have. Backup QBs are not terrible. But can't see Skatteboo and Naybors sustaining that offense. Somehow the Cowgirls win this thing. Their offense is looking strong right now. And is talented enough. Giants defense is solid. But nothing amazing.

Giants have the leadership and staff to run DAL off the field and they have already done it once this year. Harbaugh doesn't need a lot. A solid defense (7th), a decent running game (15th), and a decent passing game (17th). Control the clock, run the ball, convert on 3rd down, and don't turn the ball over...that's John Harbaugh's way. The fact that they are middle of the pack on rushing and passing tells the story, they are very balanced and frustrate defenses. Harbaugh just needs JJM to run the offense and protect the ball, trust his OC...JJM could end up creating a market for himself, I mean Flacco wasn't supposed to be a star SB MVP. He got his first start because two other QBs were injured. Don't sleep on the Giants.

DAL has a chance to win the division, a small chance. They will have to win one of these games: SF, SEA(road), or LAR(road), I don't see that happening. Maybe I am wrong. DAL is the team you shouldn't trust, they have shown already they aren't focused, coaching decisions are questionable to say the least, and they lost to a winless team with a UDFA rookie QB in his first start...at home! He freaking torched them.

DAL D is horrible, they gave up 21 to an offense decimated by injury, an offense that was so decimated they were setting records. Had it not been for a few errant throws last night PHI scores 28 - 31 points.

If I were a gambler and had to bet on who wins the NFCE, my money is on the NYG, I am a DAL fan but I don't throw money away.

I have 2 moments when I knew the season was gonna be a loser in the last 2 years.

Carter spitting on the Cowboys before the opening snap as repeating Superbowl Champions in 2025.

And the most boneheaded 8 seconds of football I've ever seen in my life at end of Jags game. Red flags in both moments in what was to come.

They have a work ethic and culture problem right now. A disrespect for the game and how to manage it and make winning decisions and plays. Along with low IQ stupid penalties at key times. And miscommunication everywhere. Time and time again Siri disrespected the game and opponent by going on 4th downs while not taking the points or not punting from his own side of the field. Everything snowballed and caught up to this team. Team no longer buys whatever Siri is selling. Lack of confidence in him and his Bad Bunny theatrics. He's a snake oil salesman right now. Dead man walking as well.

Most of these guys, Saquon especially, are competitors and don't want to come out. It's the coaches/trainers responsibility to protect them. Similar to a boxer, those guys would die in the ring before quitting which is where the refs and cornermen have to step in. Not that it matters anymore from a competitive standpoint since the season is over, but it most likely cost him playing against Washington on Sunday.

Nick isn't the only head coach/player to do any of that. Lafleur and Rex Ryan have got into it with fans. Countless respected players have got into it with fans as well. I get the criticism for that kind of stuff, but calling him out for celebrating a touchdown is petty.

It was a historic TD…. First of the season in the first quarter… only took 7 games against an awful defense.

Like I get the defense is really bad the last 6 quarters. However, the offense has been pretty bad for like the last 22 games. Even last night they scored 21 against the worst defense in then league. Might be the high we have for the rest of the season.

The second drive was impressive. 7 plus minutes, 70yds...ball control against DAL works wonders. Either penalties or no pressure combined with soft 3rd down coverage is their kryptonite.

Some thoughts:

Dalton was kept around b/c McKee was lost in space trying to pick up the new scheme. Last week he still looked lost, this week was better, though the sequence at the end of the half was terrible, as was the game sealing Int.

He's a backup, worth extending as such for backup money, but even if he has a few good games, a long way from being a legitimate NFL starter.

LD was 80%, which is better than the 60% in the first game or Lampkin/Jurgens. But how long can he hold up? And I don't think he's got the lateral agility for this scheme anymore.

Kendall is a significant upgrade over Majors at center, getting a 2nd for Jurgens was highway robbery.

Steen is what he is, a run of a mill OG who isn't worth extending.

Bell is a work in progress, but a decent starting RT with a lot of upside.

When your starting WRs are Lemon and Cooper, you're going to struggle to produce offense. Imagine the Dallas offense without Pickens and Lamb.

Goedert has become a better blocking Chad Lewis. There is no #2 TE, just a bunch of #3s.

Pierce lacks vision, hard runner but meh in blitz pickup and simply missed a couple holes b/c of tunnel vision.

So I got to give Mannion a pass for a while, he actually made this group look decent, if the defense could have produced a couple stops and a turnover or two, they might have put up 30 points.

The defense on the other hand, given Parker's struggles in Dallas and Fangio's struggle this season, wonder if the league has caught up to his scheme.

Some is personnel, there is little depth on the DL, and they lack a safety who is a force coming up in run support.

But a lot is better QBs (accuracy) taking advantage of soft zones, and running backs slashing the front seven without safety support.

I think the season is over, while 8 wins might win the division, and 9 should, 6-4 or 7-3 seems out of reach unless everyone gets healthy, McKee makes a big jump, and Fangio fixes the defense into a top ten unit.

Don't think I'd bet on that trifecta.
