October 7Oct 7 Not a coincidence that Howie has the most draft ammo in 2028 with two firsts and two seconds when they have a realistic out in Hurts' contract after 2028.
October 7Oct 7 ESPN weighing in.....Eagles trade C Jurgens to RavensRavens get: C Cam Jurgens, 2027 seventh-round pickEagles get: 2027 fifth-round pick, 2028 second-round pickRavens grade: D+Eagles grade: AFirst, Tyler Linderbaum walked in free agency. Then the Ravens lost both Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic to injury, suddenly leaving them without a center. Last week, Baltimore moved first-round rookie guard Olaivavega Ioane to center but evidently don't see that as a long-term option. So Baltimore turned to the trade market and dealt for Jurgens. It's an interesting and unusual move, because Jurgens is no stop-gap. He's only 27 years old and is already on a long-term deal after signing an extension with the Eagles in 2025.Jurgens moved from center to left guard in Week 2 after the Eagles placed guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve. It has not gone well. Jurgens ranks in the bottom three in both pass block and run block win rate at guard. But the Ravens are trading for Jurgens to have him play center. In 2024, Jurgens was a Pro Bowl center who recorded pass block and run block win rates in the 80th and 50th percentiles, respectively. He made the Pro Bowl again in 2025 but his numbers slipped to the 65th and 39th percentile, respectively. He should be a stabilizing force for the Ravens -- perhaps an average to above-average center -- at what has suddenly become a position of need. But the cost is exorbitant. The Ravens are surrendering a second-round pick (plus a fifth-and-seventh-round pick swap) for the right to pay a non-premium position player market price after this season. Jurgens is due a fully guaranteed $16 million next year. He's due $17 million (non-guaranteed) in 2028 and 2029. Jurgens' $17 million APY for the duration of his contract makes him the fourth-highest paid center in the league, behind only Linderbaum, Creed Humphrey and Aaron Brewer, per OverTheCap.com. By comparison, Connor McGovern, who had better numbers than Jurgens last season, makes a little over $13 million per year. One saving grace for Baltimore is that Jurgens is cheap this year. The Eagles have already paid Jurgens' option bonus, so the Ravens should be only on the hook for the remaining portion of his $1.2 million base salary. For the Eagles, the loss of Jurgens is the latest blow to an offensive line that is already down Dickerson and recently retired tackle Lane Johnson. Jurgens hadn't played well at guard, but surely they saw him as their long-term center. Drew Kendall, who has played center after Jurgens' shift, has been below average in both pass and run block win rate this season. But the Eagles seemed to feel like this was a price too good to pass up.I understand that the Ravens rightfully feel they are Super Bowl contenders, probably want Ioane to stay and develop at guard and felt the need to fill their gap at center. Making a trade before the deadline to fix that issue makes sense. But almost certainly there would have been cheaper options out there than this. And the timing is odd, considering that Jurgens is currently in concussion protocol and not expected to play on Sunday. So it seems like the Eagles sensed Baltimore's desperation and squeezed an overpay out of the Ravens. -- Walder

Don't want to force it and end up with the wrong one and make your roster worse. If that means having another bridge season next year I'm for it if it leads to the greater good.

October 7Oct 7 Are we sure we’re keeping Jalyx Hunt over Nolan Smith? Jalyx has been pretty disappointing.
October 7Oct 7 Pretty surprised at the Jurgens trade straight on the heels of Lane retiring, but it likely points to the Eagles having advanced knowledge of both. I get the sense neither Jurgens nor Lane bought into Kuper's coaching -- which I don't intend to be an indictment on Kuper. Some guys just aren't the same players under a different scheme. I was a bit surprised Lane didn't retire after last season, and Jurgens' performance dictated he wasn't a fit for the current Eagles roster. Makes me wonder even louder if we'll see Dickerson on the field again.
October 7Oct 7 So is the Jürgens trade just an opportunity that came up and was too good to turn down, or is it the starting gun of the front office saying the offense isn't going to work with this personnel, writing off the season and moving on the pieces they don't want to stock up on draft picks to reshape the roster in a hurry?
October 7Oct 7 Goedert being back would be huge for the offense. Week 1 was the only time it really looked good, and that was the only game Goedert fully played in.

Smith was a 1st round pick and is a JAG who has some good stretches here and there. He'll walk in free agency. They do need to upgrade Edge, I've been hoping for a 1st or 2nd round pick at Edge for some years now. Hunt is a good second Edge, they need a big upgrade. Greenard so far isn't it, but he has to get healthy and be available.

Howie says he doesn’t want to trade Cam, makes up a ridiculous valuation that he knows will get Baltimore off his back, and the Ravens say, "deal.”It's possible Howie is shopping players but this one feels like the Ravens needed a Center and saw our situation.

Not that he is old and maxed out. But, is he in the right system? Texas tends to produce WRs who are not NFL ready and dont develop. Is it a product of the offense that is not helping Arch develop?
