EMB Blog: 2026 Regular Season (Part 1)

Featured Replies

The NFCE is soft this year. Eagles look to be getting Goedert back this week and DeVonta and Barkley are expected back over the next 2-3 weeks.

This offense is very different from what they've been running with Sirianni the past 5+ years. They don't have the exact personnel they need, but in the first year of install its about the floor. I don't think we will see the passing game start to find its identity until at least week 6, and the run game is struggling because of injuries across the line and RB room. There's been no consistency at any position and this is why it doesn't look so great right now. I believe they will pull it together in the back half of the season.

Goedert being back will be huge. The offense is expanding and they are rolling out more concepts. Penalties shot up the past 2 weeks because they've been doing more pre-snap motion and they are still learning the sequencing.

The Jags are also going to come with a blitz heavy defense. Either the Eagles will have figured out the quick game answers, or they are going to get the same results as last week. Big opportunity to right the ship and show some progress.

They are learning a new offense, not a new sport. The floor as they learn doesn’t have to be worst offense in the nfl.

I mean he may have been concussed after the eagles blindsided him with the news someone wanting to give a 2nd rounder for him

Or….

Cam: Hey Howie, my agent talked to the Ravens and they want to give you a 2nd rounder for me.

Howie: OK Ginger, get in the blue tent. I’m grabbing the independent neurologist

This is arguably Howie's best move of all of 2026

But makes the rubbish draft all that more perplexing and frustrating

This must be Jalen’s account posting here. Gotta be. Your days are numbered Jalen

It’s eerie. If you just change a few letters his username is an anagram for "Jalen Hurts”

Good trade. I don’t think it signals tanking for the year, but I still think that will be the fate this year anyway.

It will be good (and a bit refreshing) to see these young guys play, although I’m probably not as optimistic about them as most. They’re all mid-late picks, and maybe even undrafted? So, none of this changes the fact that the team hasn’t invested enough meaningful resources in the OL.

We may get fortunate and have 1 or 2 of them show well (Kendall looks like he can be a good center), but this is the least talented OL this team has fielded in some time.

Speaking of center….I have a feeling that both Lampkin and Kendall are best at center. I don’t see either guy being great at guard.

Agree with a lot of what you're saying. I think right now, my optomism isn't so much riding on the new guys being more talented than who they're replacing, but moreso, on seeing how this plays out with them just being healthier.

Yeah, I think we could definitely see a bump just from youth and health.

I just can’t shake the feeling of Lampkin at guard. I guess we’re going to see soon enough.

The Eagles being in salary cap hell narrative needs to end. At worst you are looking at a year like 2021 when it was an issue, but not hell. And a lot related to the shutdown with Covid.

Looks to me that Howie is gearing for one more major flex in 2028. 4 picks in the first two rounds with a nice chunk of cap space for FA spending in 2028. Of course, 2027 off season/draft could alter that (mostly the draft picks collection).

My guess is move up to get a QB in 2027 draft and have a bunch of money to play in the 2028 FA period.

Yea that's not worth a 1st rounder IMO. Pass

Well, that’s the problem these days. QB development is stunted because of college offenses, NIL, etc… but at the same time, QB is still the most valuable position and anyone who has the potential to be a high level starter and has shown flashes of stardom in college is going to get picked in the first round.

So there are really only two paths — you take a guy in the first round who has a ton of talent, produced at a high level, and hope you can develop them OR you can try to find a flawed prospect in the mid or later rounds and try to develop them. But statistically, it’s really hard to find a starter outside of the first round, so no guarantee.

At least 1 of those extra 2028 picks will be used to trade up in 2027 draft.

I wonder what Ravens fans perspective is on this trade. Not many people have the time or lack of life to keep a book and have any meaningful opinion on a center in another conference. They are going to look up Jurgens and see that he’s a 27 year old 2x Pro-Bowler, including last year. He struggled with injuries but just passed a physical. The Eagles just turned over their OL coach and Jurgens has reportedly been struggling badly this year….as a LG playing out of position.

Their narrative is that they just picked up a pro-bowl center at a position of dire need.

I used to be on the bandwagon for developing flawed prospects. But if you successfully develop that flawed prospect, you still eat it eventually with their contract and they’ll get their cap destroying money.

If a team tanks hard and ends up with one or more top 5 picks, it’s really nice to be able to use them on franchise cornerstone hyper-elite non-QBs though so the aforementioned project can be surrounded by elite talent. (That’s basically Jalen Hurts, although Howie never had picks quite that high).

Some would call it very backwards, but I kind of like the model of building the roster first. You adhere to a blueprint and draft to your wants, but you never know what random chance will land you. Could be Marvin Harrison type WRs and precision slot guys. Could be a physically dominating OL and an all-world RB. (The Eagles landed there in 2024 and it wasn’t exactly their plan). Could be 2 elite TEs. Those setups fit QBs differently.

That’s a redwood sized limb you’re venturing out onto there.

Really is wild how two plays in the past two weeks created such a butterfly effect. If Dalton doesn’t throw that INT against Chicago and the Eagles end up winning that game where they sit 3-1/4-0 does Lane retire? If Jurgens doesn’t run into Hurts on the third down this past Sunday and they win that game 27-10, is he still on the team?

Weird sequence of events.

Dows have to be odd for Mailata right now after the past 2 days.

Mailata looks bummed to not be playing with his dudes anymore. You can see it in his eyes.

So can we eat some money and get a 7 from the Chiefs for Hollywood Brown?

Honestly, people are just so good at making crap up. Unfortunately football has become a prime infection of the same problem that plagues everything else nowadays: everyone sees things just how they want to see things, and ignores/requires no evidence. Social media age narcissism doing what it does best.

To clarify, at the Mostly Eagles Tweets tweet. Lol.
