You’ve clearly been right about the OL so far. You know ball!

OL was obviously broken (even going into year) and now it's getting fixed. Long over due. Upgrades that have not been revealed fully yet. At C and LG. Bell is gonna mash in the running game and eventually by EOY will look the part in pass pro. Patience grasshopper.

This is why I've speculated about some kind of a clash or disconnect between various Eagles brain trust. How the Eagles have handled things over the past year is very un Eagle like. They're usually buttoned up with this stuff. This is amateur hour.

NOOOOOOOOOO

Just when you think they've finally admitted their stupidity, this report follows.

If this does happen, then it's clearly not about having a trade chip as now any team can sign him.

If they bring him back on the practice squad, then they think he's a good player. Complete lunacy.

But he still is demoted to third or fourth string or else they would have released one of the other QBs instead

Howie make gambles, some work, some don't.

I think Dalton was insurance, and if McKee stepped up and a team needed a backup QB, maybe could be flipped for a late rd pick. But a late 7th, that's basically first dibs on a UDFA.

Greenard basically cost a 3rd rd pick (they'll get a comp pick for Phillips) and is basically Phillips with a better injury history. Best they get him healthy for the stretch run.

Meanwhile he turns a 7th into a 5th, adds a 2028 2nd and moves out money with the Jurgens deal. Jurgens can't play OG, I'd rather go with Lumpkin/Morris and take my lumps with players who can improve.

And Kendall is the center of the future.

Don't know if the revamped OL will work, but can it be worse than what we saw last season with Mailata - Dickinson (cripple) - Jurgens (cripple) - Steen - F Johnson or this season?

At least when you look at Mailata - Lumpkin/Morris - Kendall/Majors - Steen - Ball you've got the core of a young OL, and look for Howie to add depth, and use a high pick if they struggle.

I don't think Dickinson is coming back, and if he does, he won't last long. That stem cell stuff is of dubious value, and I think he's shot and will retire after this season. Otherwise he'll be cut.

I can see Howie eating $100M the next two seasons, going young, and setting the team up for a 2029-2030 SB run.

Doesn't mean he'll give up the next two seasons, rather, he'll make some clever moves, but avoid committing a lot of money and clear out the veterans with limited life expectancy.

Howie is the quick turnaround artist.

Again. Stated at cutdown day. Howie missed on Gush and Williams with young depth we could use. He ain't perfect. Thought he could get back a pick for one of his QBs and struck out. The Jurgens trade makes all of his patience worth it with these washed players. If he gets something for LD, he should be crowned. 👑 We are in the process of gutting bottom 5-10 spots on roster. Fair to do, at 1/4 point of season with in season assessment. I like that he's at least trying to correct his mistakes!

While I think it is true that Howie trading Jurgens doesn't = him punting on the season per se. But it's not like Kendall got hurt during practice and blindsided them. They traded the guy knowing Majors will probably have to go from practice squad to starting an important game for them. That says something and I don't think it's just "It was an offer we couldn't refuse"

If this was a team that looked great about to head into an NFC East matchup where winner takes control of the division... not sure he approaches it the same way.

I mean if Jurgens was playing great and the team was undefeated at this point, Baltimore would not have bothered with the phone call.

I think they were unconvinced about McKee heading into the season. I am not sure why they were unconvinced but I believe it was more than just the coaching staff or Howie. Dalton was Howie's solution. It was a terrible solution.

This is a nice Jason Kelce fluff piece about his time in London doing Kelce things.

Jason Kelce: Ex-Philadelphia Eagles star plays amateur ru...

Former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winner Jason Kelce stuns amateur London rugby players by showing up for a practice game.

Justice for Beau Allen for being the afterthought in this article.

I just hope there's some video of the game. It sounds like Kelce was having fun.

Dalton move was a disaster. Glad we cut the cord.

What the heck is going on with the Eagles FO? I can understand the injuries being a setback, but cmon...the Eagles braintrust has always seemed to be two moves ahead...how could they not have seen potential collective drama of Dickerson, Jurgens and Lane....I mean the writing has been on the wall for awhile...but to roll with them anyway..

Some people like to say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...but...a more appropriate take is that insanity is doing the same things over and over agin knowing you are going to get the same results but doing it anyway...

I am afraid this is going to get much more messy real quick....

What a career. 1 pass. 1 interception. Gotta be a record somewhere

Williams showed me nothing in TC, 2nd year, should make substantial improvement. And that's why Howie didn't care if he was claimed.

I think Howie's approach has become with draft/young players, if you're not a potential starter, I can find a scrub off the waiver wire with more experience.

I think they did, which is why they have the depth of Kendall, Lampkin, and drafted Bell in the third. The Lane retirement was something they most likely didn't expect and that seemed to come out of nowhere. But I'm sure they banked on him missing a few games like he usually does. But Kendall and Lampkin were always the insurance options for Jurgens and Dickerson not panning out. Kendall has panned out so far and now Lampkin has a chance to prove himself Sunday moving forward. You can't have pro bowlers at every position for depth, but I was fine with the contingency plan they had at C and LG.

Watching that Drew Mestemaker gallop against Oregon had me asking the same thing as when Daniel Jones ran past the Eagles defense -- "why won't those black guys just bring him down??"

The last TD run was right out of a Josh Allen highlight tape. The guy who hit him at the goal line was knocked out before he hit the ground.

My assumption when we brought Dalton in was he knows the offense and will be good in the QB room

Apparently he wasn’t THAT good

Falcons were smart and put him right away on IR. Would have minimally liked Howie to take that route and hide him. Instead we have Bennett & GC on IR. And then holding on to a scrub QB Dalton just to fetch, what maybe a late 7th rounder. Williams played well in last game vs Commanders (1 pressure in 36 snaps/PFF-70) and was potentially a swing tackle candidate and was taking snaps at Guard in practice. I think he's ultimately better than Fred Johnson in the end, who is older and probably not a fit for OZ. Think Howie held on to him to trade him. Will see if that materializes. My thing was, knowing you had 3 guys in LJ, CJ and LD who have been broken for awhile, you secure any semblance of young talent on the roster. Not keep 5th TEs and 6th/7th CBs who we know what they are. Williams only 22 and still developing. Still makes no sense to me. Again this is a minor complaint, but Howie early roster management of this season has been off. But it's all good if he corrects it.

I don't even think Mannion knows the offense at this point.

Congrats all! EVERYONE on this message board officially has better Eagles stats than Andy F'ing Dalton.

So now that Dalton was ditched, if you minus F. Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Jonathan Jones (guys who will probably not play much or eventually be gone this year) we have one really young roster (Top 3 youngest in league). And I hear peeps who want to uproot what is a very young team. Gonna have some growing pains here at this point. And hope the defense which has the more proven talent is what we think they are. We will find out. This process was predictable in that when you pay the defense, something would have to give to keep cost control.

I’m fine with stinking this year and next year.

Said it before, let’s get the team set up for a serious run in 2028/2029/2030.

LD is too expensive to cut - he'll stay, and likely retire after the season and we file the paperwork post June 1, 2027.

Jones is fine - no reason to move on.

Big Fred - at some point you just need OL bodies. We really only have 7 on the active roster (Mailata, Lampkin, Kendall, Steen, Bell, Morris and Fred) with others not on the 53 (Majors on PS, Dickerson on IR). No reason in the world to cut him without a replacement who can play tackle and guard.

Will see. The point is the team is trending younger with every recent move made. I think Howie is in chopping mode with dead weight and older guys. Jones ain't any good. Game turned around once he was in there. And flat out dropped the easiest INT you can ask for. I'm not a huge fan of Bennett, but he's younger and not much worse. Still havent gotten more than a few snaps to prove himself. Johnson is a JAG and not a part of the future here. Ojukwu is probably his equal. I'd have no problem trading him. Would prefer a younger guy of course in the pipeline. (I.E. hating Cam Williams cut). Dickerson is a goner one way or the other. So it's all about the youth at this point and developing them ASAP. Maybe one of these PS pickups can take a spot. Too much dead wood on team and on top of it keeping open roster spots each week. Not a fan!
