Exactly. The return is good not great and the draft is a complete crap shoot. How often do 4th and 5th rounders hit? Sure the first was nice but they screwed the pooch with Toney so it’s kinda a wash. They really wanted Smith and the Eagles saw it coming so they did what had to be done.

I’m a little bummed the Dolphins didn’t take Smith at 6, as we’d very likely have Waddle right now.

That's a really silly thing to say right now.  NO ONE knows how these picks will ultimately turn out... and to include the pick in 2022 as part of that. Just ludicrous (but, coming from PFF, it makes sense).   Who is to say that the Bears don't fall completely flat on their face this coming season and end up with the #1 overall pick?  Or even top 5?  Just a foolish thing to say.

Waddle, the guy who was outperformed by Smith over their prospective careers at Alabama, and couldnt finish the year due to injury

I don’t know I thought that return was great in that trade. Next years draft is going to be a deeper draft based off of guys going back to school who got the ability to due to the pandemic. Next years draft supposed to be way deeper and more info on players in the first round. And the Bears they could implode and fire Nagy and potentially picking in the top 20. Where they screwed up was taking toney. If they took a position they needed like DE or darrisaw i think it looks a lot better. Toney just feels like a huge reach.
