I think he needs to play with a true #1 who can dictate coverage so he is 1 on 1 with the second corner.  He is going to see every teams #1 corner, and be bracketed.  It is about to get a whole lot harder for him.

So he ran a poor 40, ok.  Someone at age 21 does not lose speed over a few months.  Are you implying there is an injury they are not telling us about?  The added weigh made him slower for sure but I expect him to still have the same college speed once he is more comfortable out there.

a second-round TE (and first Eagles pick);

a second-round RB; and

an upper-third level OL.

I think he just did it for the combine to be more jacked.  It worked against him.  If it is a matter of him lifting less or trimming 10lbs, there will be no issue then.

Guys dive into a youtube highlight videos and then think they watch more college football than you.  I watched 6 or 7 Alabama games live from start to finish.  Not to be that guy, but I would bet I watch more college football than 95% of the board.  One advantage of being a West Coaster, games start at 9 am, and I can stay up and watch all of the late West Coast games.

Unfortunately, he's so slight, the GPS can't see him due to the thinness of his cross section.

Reagor had one of the highest rates of separation for WRs last year, and it's not like he was the 3rd or 4th option when he was on the field (hmm, I'm gonna shut down Ward or Hightower before Reagor?). Reminded me of Maclin, didn't look that impressive on his way to 1,000 yards. Don't know if he'll ever be as explosive as college, but he gets open.

I thought the hype on Smith was overblown, then I watched the playoffs - uh, no, he really is that good, what he did to Ohio State was ridiculous, he wasn't just open, he was wide open all half.

The WRs at #20 weren't as good as Reagor. While another 2022 1st would have been nice, not sure what Chicago offers at #12, maybe the same deal, maybe a little less.

Slater wouldn't have been a bad pick, but my suspicion is Brooks is 100%, in which case they expect him to start at a high level for 3 more seasons (Peters made four pro bowl teams after missing a season due to an Achilles injury). So that would allow them to draft interior OL later and develop them, rather than have to reach for a "plug and play" guy.

Howie has gotten in trouble in the draft by trying to be "too smart" to obtain extra value, losing players they wanted - this year he didn't get greedy.

I don’t think Gettleman would forgo that trade as he shouldn’t so we still get Smith and keep our 3rd. Bears also gave the Giants a 2021 5th and a 2022 4th. We could take just the ‘22 1st maybe even throw them our 5th this year or next if we had to.

I just stopped at a gas station in an Illinois town of 3,300 people and saw two guys wearing Eagles gear. I asked them what they thought of the trade up and they were pumped. One guy even dropped a "Slim Reaper.” Good dudes. Smart fans. Very random.

Just have to say- with Chip or Douglas here, Howie never gets to make 2 trades within the first round. Thanks to them being gone we got arguably the best WR in the draft and an extra 1st round pick.

That worked with Marvin Harrison. Smith went against Surtain in practice every day. How many NFL CBs are better than Surtain?

Bracketing works more against speed merchants where you take away the deep threat and the CB can ignore the double move, a great route runner will simply make his cut and "split the difference" - find the clear lane between the two defenders and give his QB a target. Smith is a technician who'll create separation with perfect routes.

And Smith can line up anywhere and run any route, so if there is a tough matchup, Sirianni can scheme Smith out of it.

Not saying he'll be All Pro, but Smith should be a consistent 1,000 -1,200, 8-10 TD a year receiver for a number of years. And with a high catch rate.

You have to go back to Barnett and Fryar in the 1990s, TO in 2004, and Jackson, 2009-10, 13 and Maclin 2014-15, to see that kind of production from an Eagles' WR.

Who? I keep hearing "people are ****ing and whining. Eagles fans are just miserable" but haven't seen a single person overly complaining about the pick, so I would love to see who these people are.

Sirianni brought up his affinity for crossing routes last night.   Man is that nice to hear.  Something that was severely lacking in our offense the past few years.  There is so much you can develop off of those, if successful.  Short yardage run game.  Downfield shots.  RB to the flats.  Seams to the TE.  Really need to drill the execution of it.  But something I am excited to see.  

A concern then is can Hurts throw a good enough ball on crossing routes without killing the WRs.

I think at worst he can be a solid #2 with Smith, but there's certainly a lot of upside, especially if he can recover that college "burst."
