Sometimes people are just special. Sometimes, in football guys are just really good at it, against all odds. Aaron Donald was too short with too short of arms to be a high pick at DT. He’s just really good at it.

I actually liked the value gettleman got in the trade. Like you said the bears schedule is hard and Nagy could get canned and they could implode. However i don’t get the Toney pick when you have Shepard, galladay and slayton. Plus barkley and engram. I thought you guys should’ve gone darrisaw or paye at that point. I get you have peart and Thomas but I’d have moved Thomas to guard and had darrisaw at LT and kept peart at RT. Your oline would have been set for a while doing that.

It’s not like every week the team went into the game with no knowledge of Smith. If they could’ve copied what another team did to shut him down, they would have. 
 

What worries me more is the durability of a 4Q game. He isnt going to have as many blow outs in the NFL.

In my view, I think we can get an interior lineman later in the draft to knock Pryor out of here.  I know that eventually we'll need to replace Kelce, Brooks, and Johnson in some order but I'd rather give Stoutland another late round pick and another year to work that pick, Driscoll, Herbig, and Juriga and see if he can turn any of them into a long term starter.  Next draft we'll have a better idea of how many high picks are needed to infuse into the line.  

I have no interest in a running back until the end of the draft just because they will be halfway through their rookie contract (i.e., the only RB contract that matters) by the time we're competitive again.   

Yeah, even before Howie was giving away draft picks was figuring late rounds or scavenge other teams cuts

I am waning in my concern for his durability.  He is a plus-athlete, a technician, and a student of the game.   You can't ask for much more than that, and had he been the 200-lb WR, he'd have been gone earlier.   So, the Eagles would have had to get him at #6.  They were able to manuever and managed to 'flip' the 3rd round pick they got for Wentz for a first round pick in 2022 with that maneuver.  And, I remember back to when the season ended and everyone was watching the NCAA National Championship playoffs and NC game.  At that time, Smith was a popular name to throw about at the 6 pick.  Some bristled due to the position, but few bristled at the value.  Again, the only concern mentioned was his build.  So, to come away with Smith and likely two 2022 firsts for the #6 and Wentz, its hard to build a strong argument against it.    You can dislike going back to the WR position again, and not getting a CB.  So, this is a beautiful rose, with two small thorns - 1) they dipped at WR again, rather than CB & 2) they took a very talented player with a slight build.

I'd like to still pick up another WR later.  Cornell Powell from Clemson intrigues me as insurance/ competition for Fulgham and JJAW.

If either Quez or Fulgham develops into a starting caliber NFL WR, watch out.  We could potentially go from one of the worst WR corps in the NFL to one of the best.
