I don't know why people want to trade down now to pick up some day 3 picks.  It has been noted for awhile that the talent drops like a rock after round 3 in this draft and it isn't deep at all due to the extra year of eligibility given from the pandemic that many took.  

 

You aren't getting an extra 3rd for trading down in the second round and staying in the second round.  The value doesn't match up with that. 

I'm not worried about CB, because we're rebuilding. At worst, Gannon auditions a lot of late round picks, waiver wire pickups, raids on other team PSs and finds a few guys with upside when the dust clears. Next year they're positioned to add a solid CB with one of those 1st rd picks. If they go 5-12, they'll have 4 picks in the top 40 next season.

It's more fun to lose 40-30 than 20-10.

I don't think Tyson Campbell would be 'forcing it'; I liked his tape better than Stokes' -- but Stokes ran the 4.26 so there he goes.  He's an early 2nd round grade in my books

But don't trade out of a player you want. I might be more tempted to take multiple picks for Ertz, say instead of a 4th, a 5th, 6th and 7th.

I think teams that have loaded rosters will be looking to make consolidation trades on the third day, and that's a chance to pick up more lottery tickets.

The pick you get doesn’t have to be this year if you move back. You might get a team who wants to move up to 37 and give you their second this year and a nice pick in next years draft which is going to have more depth.

Is he really going to be better than some of the other options if he is there? Maybe not.  We will see. 

I'm just saying we don't need to pick a CB just because we are afraid of what's left at 70.

There are other good ones left for later,  and at least one nice free agent available.

We have tons of holes but this is also a 2-3 year process.  We aren't going to fill them all this year.

Think about it for a minute.  Howie's job may or may not depend on the success of Jalen Hurts.  He put it all on the line with Hurts.  He ignored scouts, pissed off his franchise QB and then traded him eating the largest dead cap in NFL history. 

If I'm Howie, I'm giving Hurts every weapon possible to make sure he succeeds.  If Marshall or either of the Moore's are sitting at 37 you have to be tempted.

90% of the posters on here hate Greg Ward and think he's WR5 at best.  If you draft Elijah or Rondale to be your new slot WR, you now have an ELITE, quick twitch slot WR to go along with the savvy DeVonta Smith and the burner/gadget Reagor.  

You load up to make Hurts the best he can be.  That's what NYG are doing for Daniel Jones.  Dallas is doing the same for Dak and so on.  You give your quarterback as many weapons as possible.  The difference in Rondale Moore and Elijah Moore when compared to Quez Watkins and Greg Ward is immense.  They aren't even in the same ball park.

This isn't what I especially want but it makes a ton of sense to do so. 

I see some people concerned about Smith's weight. I get the concern. It's a real question mark. If it weren't, he would have likely been a top 5 pick.

That said, one thing to ease your concern is that the NFL game is actually less physical than the college game for a receiver. College DBs are allowed to do things by refs that NFL DBs just can't do without a laundry bag worth of flags being thrown. So, at least from the perspective of getting open, Smith's weight shouldn't be an issue.

Injury might be a concern, but I don't think beating a jam or out muscling a CB down field is. He played in the SEC. He went head to head against the best corners in the nation - guys who will be high draft picks. He'll be fine in this regard.

I mean Day 3.  This year Round 4 or 5 is likely Round 6 or 7 normally.

Some people in here would lose their minds if we gave up our other 3rd. Look at last night when they traded one away (not even the higher one) and we still had a 3rd left, if we trade our last one they'll have a stroke.

So TATEr tots, what do you all think of round one? It appears you guys snaked us on Smith, but we seemed to have recovered nicely. In fact I think the NFC East cleaned up. The Eagles got the most accomplished player, the Giants got the best value (I personally never wanted a receiver in round 1, my eye was on Slater, but Toney is dynamic and the Bears have a killer schedule. That might be a high first round pick in 2022), the Cowboys got an impact defensive plyer and the WFT added to their defense as well.
