I agree, but that likely means Maddox slides back outside. As it is, we have no one starting outside as CB2

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

In a QB driven league, yes, he has to be the guy.

You're missing the point.

I need the Celtics to win tonight.  First time ever rooting for them.

I'm a moron.  Thought we would play them if they win.  They would play the Nets if that case.  So I can still root for them to lose this game and then win their next.

Maddox was ruined for having to play 3 different positions his rookie year before ultimately having to settle for the one he’s least suited for.

Andrew Sendejo knocking him out cold didn't help either but you're right.  Why does it seem like they insist on playing him at the position he's worst at?  He actually showed potential as a FS.

I imagine someone in the building fell in love with him during last year's draft cycle and wanted to pull the trigger here.

He's an Eagles fan

So he's probably on the message board right now trashing the trade.

I wonder if he told Howie how much he sucks when Howie called him.

If Maddox isn't starting, cutting him to save 2M is an easy decision.

@JSEagle

Im on to you

It would represent another failure of the coaching staffs here. Hes athletically gifted, and has shown he can play in the NFL when put in the right position. Cut him and he will succeed elsewhere and make us look bad.

Some team will get themselves a starting safety or playmaking nickel CB and we will save 2M dollars. Obviously significant losers in that deal.

It would be a horrible move to cut him. Trade him or keep him and use him properly.

If Maddox can't play well for 2 coaching staffs, at some point, it's on the player.

if this one makes him an outside CB again and he fails, thats on them.

You ever think he just may not be good, and that it is a Howie Roseman problem ??  If the same guys from the previous coaching regime continue to suck, but guys like Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglass continue to look like functional NFL players in their new homes, it is not a coaching problem, it is a talent evaluation problem.  The only constant is Howie Roseman.

Not sure what you're getting at.

Are they good and our coaches failed?  Are they bad and other coaches made them good?

Howie Roseman is incapable of evaluating talent to match the coaching staff's scheme.  Just because a player is good, does not mean he fits the scheme.  Howie does not understand how to find a round peg to fit in a round hole.....

One thing that always confused me about Maddox is that he is a legitimate threat when blitzing from the slot and off the edge either as a nickel or a safety.  He had 2.5 sacks as a JR and 4 sacks as a SR at Pitt.

I'll never understand drafting a player and then not using his strengths to help the team.

The "guys should wear certain numbers" crowd is really gonna have an aneurysm this year.

They are not mutually exclusive, but it is tricky.

If the offense as a whole looks/is better, the OL settles down, and Hurts does enough to let the WRs make some plays...Hurts will somewhat understandably get some credit (Wentz left a really low bar).  But he may do all that and still fail to demonstrate the aptitude to be a high volume passer in the NFL....it’s going to be a contentious debate.

Maddox has/had some legit talent, but it all fell apart for him.  He was never allowed to get comfortable in one spot.  His specs scream nickel cb, but he played with some real confidence as a safety and even outside cb as a rookie.  Things just went straight south after that.

Maybe.

Andy knew he needed better than Alex Smith.  McVay needed better than Goff.  Shanahan needed better than Jimmy G.

And our trust in the current power structure knowing these things isn’t so high right now...

Would Howie draft a future QB next year if Hurts plays just average
