That signing would crash the message board for a week.

Oh yeah, would be epic.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Kist and Solak but it's no more. Solak has some solo pods every now and then but it's been meh. He needs someone else with him in the worst way.

Solak has been off his game for a bit with the coaching change. He acts like he knows exactly who and what the Eagles want with a completely new coaching staff. It’s absurd.

The only reason to play Flacco over Hurts is if Hurts is so bad it compromises their WR investment.   I am not a Hurts believer, but I don’t think he’ll be that bad.

And if I had to guess I’d say Smith would have better stats through 16 games with Flacco than 16 games with Hurts. But a lot of that would be because of play calling and the Eagles probably playing from behind more.

Under the assumption that neither Hurts nor Flacco will be any good, the best we can hope from the QB position is for someone to Foles/Eli/Winston it and just put the ball out there for WRs to make some plays.

We aren’t going anywhere anyway, so I don’t see the harm in turnovers.  Air it out, open it up, and let the WRs spread their wings.

What I don’t want is that conservatively curated caretaker offense with a running qb and underneath passing...which, unfortunately, is exactly what Hurts best projects into.

I don’t see how they can justify that. They spent the second on Hurts. They have to see what they have in him. It’s not like they’re ready to compete this season as a team. They essentially have to give Hurts a full season, or they look even more like fools. Joe Flacco isn’t the future, for sure. Hurts probably isn’t either but they need to give him every opportunity to find out. To me, it doesn’t matter how bad he looks. Flacco winning us an extra game only hurts us, long term.

I’m still convinced that Doug was behind the Hurts selection. Something happened between him and Wentz in 2019. That’s my thought anyway.

He’ll never admit it but my feeling is Roseman at least somewhat regrets the Hurts pick. Wild guess is that Howie insisted taking Reagor when Doug wanted someone else so he gave Doug his preference in round 2.

Either way, I’m not convinced the Eagles are tied to Hurts for even this season.

I think the next couple of weeks will be important for the position.

If Hurts turns into a stud, it was Howie.  If he’s a dud, it was Doug.  We should know the drill by now.

Question-

If the eagles can pull off an Ertz for Hicks trade and sign Steven Nelson how do you feel about this defense?

I think it might be pretty darn good.

Honestly? I'd say we'd be good. Not elite, but I could see us being in the 15th overall range.

Releasing Ertz and getting absolutely nothing for him would be idiotic. So yeah, I guess I can see it happening. After all, they made a similarly idiotic move fairly recently.

It’s not like they haven’t been trying to trade Ertz; the guy has minimal value as a rental, and who could possibly justify giving him a new contract with how he half-assed it last season?

I’ve always said I’d be shocked if Howie could bring back anything better than a 5th — it’s just how the NFL works.  Teams wait for guys like this to get cut loose as cap casualties, rather than giving up draft capital.  There’s no way Ertz would generate competing offers for his services.

What if the Lion decides to bite kneecaps and players end up in IR or worse the Lion's stomach?

Howie should have traded Ertz for the best 2022 pick anyone would offer on draft weekend...or used him as a sweetener in one of his several maneuvers.

Once that didn’t happen, the chances of a meaningful trade went down the toilet.

Football is, almost by definition, a sport of meatheads, but the Lions took that too far with their new HC.

Sending the lion out for the pregame coin toss would be worth watching

Lions still only winning 3-4 games

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this and I'm not going to go back and hunt, but the Patriots want to host a couple of joint practices with the Eagles and Giants.  Supposedly, they are in talks with the Eagles and Giants about it.

You are that optimistic?  It might be worse.

You do realize this is Philadelphia? Hurts craps the bed by week 3 the fans will be calling for him to be benched.

Frankly it depends on if he eats goff and Swift

Why do you keep trying to push this narrative with Hurts?  That isn't at all what we saw from him last year.  In fact it's the exact opposite.  He had the longest depth of target per attempt of any QB in the league last year.

And completed 52% of his passes.

And that's related to the accusation of Hurts being a conservative underneath passing QB how?

BTW, your latest delusional desire Joe Flacco completed a very impressive 55.2% passes in his 13th season last year.

That tends to happen with a 1 read and run qb.

???

Make up your mind.  Either Hurts is only throwing it deep every time or he is an overly conservative underneath passing QB.

Well if the reports are accurate that they wanted to trade up to get Wilson then they're not sold on Hurts

Joint practice is good IMO
