I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don't like McDaniels much as a person, but I'd take him over Kafka 10 times out of 10.

NFL coaches aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed.  Belichick got something like a 1400 on the SAT and runs intellectual laps around the rest of them combined.

Half the battle is just getting them to take a damn hint.  Pass often, pass deep, use vertically tiered routes, pay attention to obvious matchup inequalities.  Don’t build your team around a style of play from the 1980’s.

This isnt rocket science.  But half the coaches in the NFL DONT UNDERSTAND that.  That’s why someone who once was Facebook friends with Peyton Manning, someone who cleaned Mcvay’s office, someone who mowed Belichick’s lawn probably is more willing to do it in the fashion the nfl has dictated that works...and is more likely to do it than some other random meathead.

I don't know about his SATs but I do know he uses loopholes in the rules and has been caught cheating

Didn’t know McDaniels was a candidate. Now that he is I changed my prediction.

Don’t worry he’ll commit and then within the span of 48 hours decide he doesn’t wanna do it.

What are we doing?  I thought we already had our man in mind.

Well, they identified him, but the teams that moved on from their QB acted unfairly and snapped them up first.   Howie knew who he wanted and it was all lined up, but Doug was still the HC at the time... So, by extension, according to both the commutative and associative properties = Doug's fault.

After he gets a nice meal out of it of course.

Maybe that’s what it is, maybe he’s just doing the interviews for the meals.

Pretty sure missed the joke in there.

Not sure why the breadth of this coaching search is so surprising.  First of all, it's always reasonable to interview everyone.  Learn more, try to show off a bit and get the word out there that this isn't a crap job for a crap owner, turn over every stone.  Second of all, Lurie JUST gave Howie credit for draft picks that he didn't make.  Interview everyone and 5 years from now, when one of these coaches is winning multiple SB's for some other team, you get to say you interviewed him and thought he was fantastic as evidence that fans should have faith in your next coaching search.

I might vomit

Nah, I'd bring him in and every question would be about how we should trust that he's not the slimy spineless worm that walked out on the last team that tried to hire him to be HC.

Then I'd ask him how many games he thinks the Patriots would win if they didn't cheat.

Then I'd ask him to meet me on the 9th green at 9.

Per Garofolo...

"I’ve spoken to a lot of folks in and around this situation. And there’s a lot of factors at playing here and it’s obviously going to depend who the next head coach is. And right now, this was the point at which they were supposed to be having conversations with Carson Wentz about how can they bridge this thing and bring him back. But instead, surprise! They’ve got themselves a coaching search going on. And it was a surprise to some of the folks involved in this coaching search. They didn’t expect to be doing it at this point.

So, Wentz kind of on the back burner as far as those conversations to see if they can make this thing work in 2021. But I will tell you this: sources have told me that what the team is telling head coach candidates in interviews is: 1) the head coach will obviously have a big say in how they handle the quarterback position but 2) they do believe in this guy, they want him back.

So if you’re a head coach going into those meetings saying ‘I want Wentz out, and [Jalen] Hurts in,’ I think that’s probably going to hurt your standing in this interview process.”

common sense

That Super6 commercial with Terry is hilarious

At this point, it might be more efficient to list those that the Eagles are NOT interviewing.

@4for4EaglesNest pointed out that I was not granted an interview.

Figure that might help you get started on your list.

The owner did refer to Carson Wentz as an asset.  They also openly said they will be torching things for 1-3 years, which puts Carson Wentz around the age of 30-31 before they even enter a season hoping to be competitive.  I don't think they are married to him as the QB of the future at this point.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is devolving into a clown show?

Did you watch the Lurie presser?  It is done devolving.  It was done devolving when they waited a week to fire the HC.

More amazing people are willing to take a second chance on Josh McDaniels after he burned the Colts. Burned them to the point where they had to be scrambling, start their coaching search over again after the Super Bowl and fortunately landed on Frank reich. Add on people were on Doug because his offenses four out of the five years weren’t good. Meanwhile Josh McDaniels without Tom Brady who makes every offensive coordinators look good finished with 18th, 19th, 28th and 32nd In points per game. Meanwhile doug in every season he coached here besides 2020 has been better than those four seasons from Josh McDaniels. Furthermore McDaniels two of those seasons were still worse than the Eagles in 2020

He's middle aged in an NFL sense. QBs can play into their 30s. We also have a couple in their 40s now. It's funny when the contract was first reported everyone thought it was great

So he's not young. At this point he is what he is. That may be a good thing, that may be a bad thing. And I agree i don't think at the time the contract was a bad deal.

Not to join team Lowie, but it is pretty telling that Pederson is interviewing for an OC position.

When a variable is removed from an equation and the equation remains the same, it is not a part of the equation.

That he warrants ditching Wentz.  Was it really that hard for you to figure out?

It was hard for me to figure out because I said Hurts has shown nothing to warrant ditching Wentz, meaning they need to keep Wentz. That's why when you said you are on crack he hasn't shown crap...I was like yeah we agree.

The danger is that I could see Lurie being interested in him because Lurie has always been interested in the Patriots.  Plus, he might think that McDaniels worked with a temperamental QB  in Brady so he could handle Wentz. But, there's no way I want McDaniels as a HC.  His maturity level is zero and Brady made him.  He's just like Gase.

There’s been rumors circulating this year that another reason (besides belichick) why Tom Brady left was because Josh McDaniels was also a dbag.
