Also, second hot take: HIRE DUCE! And as said, I think Chris and Woody Johnson wind up making Doug the new Jets head coach. As for Duce, they simply can promote him to HC because that would satisfy the Rooney Rule.

If I were to compare this situation to another team, it would be the 2000's R-words with Snyder and Cerrato. What did that get them? A lot of 5 or 6 win seasons with a 9 win season sprinkled in.
