Listening to a lot of embiid’s presser but some of the things he’s saying comes off poorly after a performance like tonight and in general.

Still talking about the MVP?? Lol yeah had nothing to do with his performance. Im not saying it was his biggest issue but, that played at least a small piece in tonight's performance. Especially the " I don't know what else I have to do to win it" line.... That is someone who is pissy about not winning MVP.

Honestly i think the worst quote in there is the if i don’t play I’m called soft. And if i play bad they’ll say I’m just not good enough. he really should not be worrying about what anybody Fing says about him or the situation. Outside of that locker room and organization nothing else matters. he should be worried about winning game five, playing your best and coming out with energy and urgency. F everything else.

I get it he is injured and he’s not gonna be the same player with these injuries. Not sure how many players would be playing or even playing as well as he had done first two games back. However his energy like the rest of the team was not there tonight. Heck they had the report in shoot around it wasn’t there. If he doesn’t bring the energy it feels like the rest of the team follows. This reminds me of game 5 vs. Toronto in 2019 where the sixers got obliterated 125-89. Then won game six before ultimately losing the series. However that series is much different if we played with urgency in game 4 and game 5 we didn’t bother to show up.

There were a few quotes in there that show he isn't ready to win anything yet. He has to learn at some point he can't piss away games because he is in a pissy mood or doesn't have energy.... You won't have it every night but, the playoffs is where you dig deep. Like you said dig deep and not worry about what people think of him if he plays or not.

Yup. Watched the entire post game presser. It was a bad vibe all around. And it came off really poorly for embiid. Frankly i feel more towards the sixers are losing game 6 on Thursday. Can’t let everything on the outside dictate how you play the game. Not winning an mvp award sucks but if you win an nba title you are likely winning a finals mvp and you’ll get more from that anyway. Instead we are pissing away chances in a career that doesn’t have the longevity of some other players

love embiid and he is a great player. But they’re other guys around the nba are playing or were hurt. None continuously talk about everything surrounding it after a bad effort night. They just go about their job and not make excuses when they had a bad night even if we know why that is with the injury. booker is still dealing with his hammy. Luka is still dealing with the after effects of his calf strain. Giannis last year hyperextended his knee in game 4 of the ECF. Came back and didn’t say anything and just played an all time nba finals. Granted i think embiid’s orbital fracture is worse than some of those. And he has the thumb issue.  we respect the hell out of him for playing even if he is not his usual self. Fans aren’t stupid. All of us know you can’t do everything you’d normally do. But that doesn’t explain why the energy in the first two games back were there and then tonight it was nonexistent then reverted back to talking about the injuries

This^ everyone at this point is playing through something. I'm sure his face hurts like hell and that mask is annoying. However, you don't need your face to run. The thumb he has already been playing with.

That's why I'm still skeptical of Harden and that hamstring sheet. That injury has become real convenient when he has a piss poor game.

I thought the Joel of last night was history. This year he has showed he had matured. Why did he revert back? The body language was there right from the start. Usually this year when he got mad, he would pick himself off of the floor instead of waiting for the obligatory teammate to pick him up. He would just watch to the free throw line with a serious look on his face and continue the game with great effort. His play would take out the frustration he was feeling. Last night, the fake back injury when he jumped into the stands showed he was more into his feelings than the game. That was a piss poor effort from top to bottom with that team.

yep...he just doesn't have that fire in his gut. mvp candidates shouldn't need to be motivated in game 5 of a 2-2 playoff series. if you're going to be eliminated in a playoff series, at least go out giving it your all...not limping and crying your way out of the arena.

Not just this game but in general watching all of these games in the postseason, but we might be the worst team in the league in trying to get entry passes into the post. There’s times where we just throw it to our opponent, or throw it 10 feet over the head of embiid or somehow fire it 3-4 rows into the stands. It’s a comedy show at times for how bad we are trying to get it to embiid in the post with our passes.

Lol at the hawks. But for the nets if they somehow walk away with Collins (or Hunter) and bogdanovic for Simmons that would actually be good additions to that roster.

Meh. Like it or not Embiid says whatever he wants all the time. So not surprising he talked about the injuries etc. That's just how the guy is. He is different than Giannis, Luka, etc personality wise.

We aren't learning anything new here this series about Embiid. We cant win a championship with him as the only star. They tried Harden and he is a decent add but not the caliber player we need to win it all. We need the supporting cast to play amazing every game in order to somehow win a championship. I think we are getting our hopes up just because it seems like a pretty open year. But this team is still very lacking.

Agreed.  If you can’t get another star in his prime to pair with Embiid, you’re better off seeing what you can get for Embiid (would be a lot) and going through a semi-rebuild.

Get some stars to build around the kid.

This playoff run and the entire future hinges on Maxey. They need him to be that other star. When he plays like ish, which he did last night, it's difficult for them to beat good teams.

There lies the issue. He’s a 21 year old kid. thats a ton of pressure on him to do that at his stage of his career. There’s a reason why not many 21 year old kids are the top or top 2 players on a finals or championship caliber team. In 2 years Maxey is going to be dynamite and better off for this experience. The issue is what the hell embiid is going to be by that time in 2 years. Unfortunately his timeline to being a legit superstar is likely on course with the end of embiid’s prime years. At that point you’d likely need another star again.

maxey is young and looked like he was in way over his head last night.

Yup. Playoff growing pains. we forget how young he is because of how good he’s been since arriving in Philly especially this year.

I’d have done the haliburton and hield trade cause i love haliburton. i said at the time the kings traded him it was a mistake and with Rick Carlisle he’d become an all star player. However i also understood that haliburton like maxey is young. Both are 22 and 21 respectively. By the time they take their lumps in the playoffs, growing pains and get them where we want them to be, you are likely 2-3 years down the road. Embiid is very likely declined. You’d have to hope haliburton and maxey could be like Tatum and brown at 24 and 25 and carry embiid and the sixers at that point. Unrealistic? I don’t think so cause i see both as potential all stars.

That said the sixers were never going to waste this season once harden rumors surfaced and really potentially embiid’s prime without making a big splash on a "star” like harden. That is morey and Michael Rubin and really the sixers organization for years now. I think once they knew harden wanted out they just went all in on that and for better or worse it was the decision they made. Long term that’s likely a huge mistake.

Curious to see what exactly the lakers do  i don’t see them trading Lebron

Jeannie buss has said countless times she isn't trading LeBron and will do whatever it takes to make him happy. Phil Jackson is there with magic to help with a coach search they have nothing to do with the roster.

That helps my mood a lil' bit.  A fantastic blown game by the Cs.  Up 14 in the 4th and lose by 3. Thanks Jrue!  :groovy:

If we can't make the Finals then I sure as heck don't want those cretins in it.

I kinda think he might force his way out.

Obviously he destroyed the roster and they will want to keep what talent they have left- hes their best talent. But I dont think the feeling will be mutual from him. He will want to go to the next place he thinks he can ring chase.

Bucks pulled what the Celtics had been doing to them the past 2 games. Where they basically owned the 4th quarter after being outplayed for 3 quarters. Hats off to the bucks down middleton they’ve still been able to win 3 games in that series without middleton and potentially win that series.

I could see him wanting out if they don’t do what he wants. The issue is the lakers don’t have to oblige and it seems Jeanie buss doesn’t want to deal him. Frankly i don’t think the lakers are winning anything with Lebron and AD going forward. But they also gave up all those picks and pick swaps for AD until 2025 so I’m guessing part of this is they don’t want to be horrible going forward. As well as multiple other factors involved as well

personally if i were the lakers I’d deal Lebron depending on what i get back. Westbrook’s contract is up after 2022-23. Just hypothetically (trade scenario you posted prior) if the lakers got harden, thybulle and a 1st I’d consider it. The cap space that would come off the books after the 22-23 season is super intriguing to me. I ptetty sure the lakers pursue another max level player with the amount of cap space available to team up with AD.

that said i don’t see the lakers moving off of Lebron and staying with him until his contract runs out.
