Also think it’s a shot at Bam. He capitalized the S in star. And there was a lot of people chirping about Embiid and Bam after the Miami series. Meanwhile williams in the 4 games he’s played has really made life miserable for Bam outside of last night. And really Bam did nothing til Miami was already dead.

He is only 24 and was raw coming into the league. Bam is a tremendous defender. He just needs to work on his downhill attacking more.

Heck, I might do a Herro, Bam and Duncan for Embiid and Green. That Heat team is old old and that Lowry contract looks horrible

I can't wait for all the pre-season "best shape of his life" stories. <_<

You can blame Doc for a lot of things, but not for Ben's refusal to shoot a basketball or his inability to sink a free throw.

Agreed.  I'd also have my doubts about Brand making that final decision.  It would be very plausible that when Rivers became available, team ownership liked the idea of a "big name" coach and told Brand he was their guy.  This has always been my supposition on the hire which would explain the flip from Lue to Rivers.

You can't exactly blame Doc for Ben's mental state, however Doc was supposed to be the big name guy who players respect with his championship pedigree. He was going to be the guy that got Embiid to get in shape.  And get Ben to work on his game.

He didn't deliver on that with Ben.

Ben isn't the way Ben is because of Doc. But Doc was supposed to be the guy who got results that Brett Brown couldn't.  Doc didn't do that.  Not with Ben. He didn't even accomplish anything more with the team.  Still a 2nd round exit disappointing underachieving team like they were with Brown.

I loved the Rivers hire when they made it. I remembered him from Boston and caught some Clippers games once in a while. If you don't see him coach night in and night out you don't see the warts. I agree ownership wanted the name.

No coach will get anything out of Ben. He's damaged goods and the league now knows it. As sub par as Harden has been for us, he's at least a real NBA player. Ben isn't. He will be out of the league in 4 years. I doubt he plays more than 25 games more games in the NBA. It'll be a series of a few games then milking injuries. The Nets may find him untradeable already.

Agreed. Ben is trash.

But Rivers was brought in for a specific purpose. Brown provided too much of a comfortability factor for Ben, with the family connection. Ben, and Joel were unmotivated, constantly. And the team was an annual underachiever with the 2 young stars who acted like theyd already arrived without truly accomplishing anything.

Doc was brought in to fix that. He didnt.

Embiid got himself in shape. That sounds more likely due to becoming a father. Ben didnt chance a bit. Doc coddled him as much as Brett did in the beginning when we, with Brett already learned that wasnt going to work. And the team has continued to be a disappointment in the playoffs.

Doc hasnt upheld any aspect of his end of the bargain.

Lakers hired Ham. Where the hell can we ship Doc now?

Ham was on my list of gets.

If they keep Doc, why bother watching the season.

Hopefully another year of disappointment and hubris gets him canned.

In the meantime, the next thing I will hope for, and be disappointed when it doesnt happen is Harden leaving lots of money on the table so this team can build depth.

Bruce Brown and Nick Claxton have talked about missing Harden. There is a world in some alternate universe where this team signs really tough defenders to build depth and toughness for post-season. Imagine being able to add a combination like Dort, and Brown? In addition to caleb/cody martin or Kyle Anderson, and bringing Drummond back.

An offseason like that, bringing back Harden, Embiid, and another year improved Maxey, would be enough to make me very excited for the team gain.

You’ll watch and be miserable, like the rest of us.

Grizzlies fan first, so my season should be enjoyable.

Can you imagine this Jimmy Butler guy in a Sixers uniform?

Competition for LaVine

Quote

The Dallas Mavericks went further than anyone expected this season, but they aren't satisfied. In fact, Dallas could be set up to be a player in the free agent market by chasing Zach LaVine.

The Mavs do not have the cap space to sign LaVine outright, but could acquire LaVine via a sign and trade. LaVine was widely expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls, but he recently made it clear that he intends to explore his options as a free agent. There have also been reports that LaVine isn't thrilled with his role in Chicago.

The Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs have all been mentioned as LaVine suitors as well. Like the Mavericks, the Hawks would have to create a sign and trade, while the Blazers and Spurs could create the cap space to chase LaVine directly.

Id probably pick the Mavs over us.

Seems the rumors must have centered around having him as an assistant to Ham. There is still hope.
