Well the Sixers believe that with Simmons Playing they are.

NO. THEY. DON'T.

They are saying what they need to publicly, so they don't have to pay him.

LOL. Trying the "Simone Biles" now.

They can't believe that after last season. They are trying to raise his value and its not gonna work. I think the problem here is the 76ers consider him much more valuable than the rest of the league does. And how about with an disgruntled Embiid? Still on that fast track to the big series?

If this keeps going on, and there is a losing streak or something, I really think Embiid may ask out too eventually. Then I suppose they could just sit him as well, right? That will show these players!

Embiid is the only one who can force the Sixers hand. If they have to trade Ben for mid level players to free up cap space, so they can sign a star free agent at the end of the season, then that's what they will have to do. I believe the Sixers will trade Ben just before the trade deadline to get the best deal the can.

So in time, when he's mentally ready, he will play. That's how I read it. When he accepts that the Sixers are unable to trade him for what they want he will have to play or sit out.

Yup. That's what he just said today.

Nothing he says will change my mind.  I think the longer he is on the team the worse it is for Philly.

One of the problems for Morey is that Ben still counts against the Cap, whether he plays or not.

That means they will be unable to sign any superstar free agents.

At some point, Embiid is going to tell Morey to bring in some superstar help or trade me too. Because his window is closing.

I believe Simmons will be traded at the Dead Line and Morey will have to pull the trigger on the best deal he can get at that time. The good news is once the cry baby is traded, cap room then opens up to sign a superstar free agent at the end of this season.

I dont think there is any way we have cap room in the offseason. Even if you wiped out Ben's entire salary by trading him for an equal amount on an expiring deal, I still think we are well over the cap.

If the deals expire, how are they over? Get rid of Tobias too?

If they are currently over by like 48 million and Ben makes like 27 million, you trade his contract for about 27 million in expirings and you are still over the cap.

I would bet money at this point in his life he hates basketball and along with his family issues he is just mentally broken. I said it after Game 7, he should be in therapy and didn't sound like he actually did anything for his mental health.

I would have loved to hear him talk to his teammates, explain his side of the story, and see how his teammates reacted. I bet he never spoke in front of the team before.

When Mr. Fragile is ready, bring him off the bench for 18-20 minutes a game.  He might actually thrive in that role.  He doesn't have to play in the heart of the 4th quarter and he can play his minutes against back ups and maybe contribute.  He stays off the floor when Joel is playing.  Then get his value up and trade him for good value asap.

I'd play him on the 2nd team only. Never at the same time with Joel.

They have to trade Ben for someone that has equal value so you may be taking on someone else's contract that could be for several years. Trading Ben doesn't necessarily free up his cap hit.

What a bunch of bull to get his way yet again.

Addressing the team is a good thing no matter which side of the Simmons argument you're on.

1. If he's ever going to play in Philadelphia again he needs to own his part of this mess and be willing to look his teammates in the eye and say as much.
2. If he's going to be traded there's an image rehab process that needs to happen. The entire ordeal for Simmons, up to this point, has been self defeating. He's tanked his own trade value and nobody is going to give anything of value for him. GM's need to feel some measure of security that he's going to be a good teammate and that he'll be respected amongst his peers.

So in any event, I hope he gets right in the head and is able to restore even some of his value as a player. Leaving this in a state of permanent conflict is counterproductive if the goal is to win a championship. It may feel good to see Simmons reap the consequences of his actions but the longer this drags out the more it hurts the team.

To me that's a clear sign that Ben was at least received as genuine when he addressed his teammates.

Eh...or they know he's full of crap, but this way they get to take the high road publicly.

Based on Embiid's statements, I think the team is 100% done with Ben and couldn't care less. They seem to be using it as a unifying force -- common enemy.

The annoying part is Ben is going to try and play the mental health card to still get paid. Calling him out for faking a physical injury is easy. Trying to call him out like this will paint the organization in a negative light, given the sissified nature of current society. It's the first smart thing Ben has done.

another mental midget.

A 6 foot 10, 240lb mental midget...a special kind.

And there it is. Using it to get paid not to play.

All-Star Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons plans to meet with medical professionals for an evaluation after telling the team Friday that he wasn't mentally ready to play to his expectations and needed time to step away, sources told ESPN.

Simmons met separately with coach Doc Rivers, medical staff and teammates Friday morning at the team's facility in Camden, New Jersey, and started a process that is expected to continue to keep him from making his season debut, sources said.

After he told the team's medical staff of his reasons for needing to seek help, the Sixers continued to offer Simmons whatever resources are necessary to assist him, sources said.

The Sixers have been fining Simmons for missing games, practices and meetings -- nearing $2 million this season -- but there is a provision in the collective bargaining agreement that protects players' salaries for failing to render services "if such failure has been caused by the player's mental disability."

Simmons, 25, requested a trade four months ago and has told the team that he has no interest in returning to play for the franchise again. The Sixers have been unable to find a trade that meets their threshold for a return package that includes a high-level All-Star player, and have wanted Simmons on the floor to honor his contract. Simmons has four years and $147 million left on his five-year maximum deal.

Simmons left the team's practice facility Thursday without participating in a scheduled individual workout. He did undergo a brief treatment on his back before the Sixers' medical team cleared him for on-court participation.

In a Philadelphia radio interview with 97.5 The Fanatic on Thursday, 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey reiterated that the team wouldn't be rushed into trading Simmons, saying, "People should buckle in. This is going to take a long time."

Simmons' agent, Rich Paul, had told Sixers officials that Simmons wasn't mentally prepared to play, sources said, and that was a message that Simmons relayed directly Friday morning ahead of Philadelphia's game against the Brooklyn Nets (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Simmons was suspended for the Sixers' victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday after Rivers threw him out of practice Tuesday for failing to sub into a practice session. Simmons lost approximately $227,000 for Wednesday night's suspension.

The Sixers had hoped to see Simmons work out Thursday and have him go through shootaround Friday, sources said. The 76ers did not practice Thursday, and Simmons has yet to fully engage in a team practice since reporting Oct. 11 after a two-week holdout.
