FL update. One of my friends rescued a couple and their Lab in the water(deep water) off FMB in the storm. They are staying at his place now, they were extremely lucky they were found. He said it was so dark he shouted at them to keep yelling so he could locate them. So far all my friends survived, some are still without power or cell service so I am waiting to hear from them. Total devastation. Pics look like a nuke went off, just very sad for me. Will help friends however I can,but access is still limited

My son in law is part of the State Police disaster response team. They're staged just north of Arcadia Fla.

He said it's a mess and even with 20,000 linemen working to restore power it's not gonna happen overnight

Yeah, DeSantis rushed in portable cell towers. They have limited range but people ARE getting through. They are asking folks to limit contact times so other have a chance to get a hold of family. Publix re-opened which is helpful but running out of generator gas since gas pumps need electricity,so it's just going to be frustrating for awhile. Tell your son thank you for volunteering, they need as much help as they can get right now

I-75 was closed up by that staging area because the Myakka river overflowed. Hopefully that has receded so he can get in to assist

He is a state troopr and the funny thing is they sent him there to cook for the other troopers and first responders

Maybe you should say a prayer for the guys he's cooking for.

I will. Also a nurse I know there said they have lined the halls at the hospital and are running on intermittent generator power they had installed. But she said they weren't expecting anything this bad. They had to turn off the AC and are using those $10.00 dollar store fans. HUGE mobile generators expected there today and of course hospitals are first on the list for repair, but the roads are not allowing much at this time. Sanibel has no services at all, only access is by air or boat and my USCG friend is working basically 20 hours a day and they are sleeping on the floor and rotating sleeping on the boats themselves. It's seriously bad

Rumor was Rosie blew up on him in the locker room with his wife there to get his ass back out there and play getting paid like he just got. It was some friend of a friend of Wentz wife on Twitter. Don’t know if I put any stock in it. But at least is plausible. Really seems plausible that Rosie snd Wentz were butting heads. Rumors all over the place about all sorts of stuff though. Be interesting when the story comes out more I’m sure.

IDK. Could be Wentz become un-coachable or never really that coachable to begin with. I remember they used a lot of his NDSU plays early in his career.

Could be that Wentz did feel he was top dog. And when he got the big contract that only enhanced this notion.

Could be Wentz and Howie had a fall-out.

Could easily be ALL of this. I would really love to know what actually happened!

Many said losing DeFellipo and after Carson had such a great 2017 season that is when he became uncoachable. Pretty sure he was his first two seasons. He was a super high pick. Confident with maybe a bit of arrogance. Foles stealing the glory I think he took really badly. Totally missed his opportunity at being a legend here. No SB so it was all on a plate for him. The team building a locker shrine and arguably embracing Foles more. I think the team collectively played harder and rose up to aid Foles. Think we did the same for Hurts. Just saw guys fight harder. Even the D seemed to step up for Hurts. Those things were very obvious. Players noticeably stepped up for the other guys. Think it was that we actually had a better winning percentage without Wentz. That’s the elite top version of Wentz included. Front office obviously seemed to battle everybody. Power struggles everywhere. Nobody questioned it how bad it was against the coaches. Think Wentz had the ego and felt confident enough with his huge new contract to try to get his way. Both with coaches and FO.

Not sure how I feel about players running things. Think I feel these huge QB egos have become crazy. But then again you want to do things to compliment them. So the top guys at least deserve a say. Especially guys that work so hard. Hardcore film study QBs know what they are talking about mostly. But not the guys like Kyler Murray. Huge ego. Top recruit always. But he doesn’t earn it with hard work and his head. Peyton Manning or Brady you have to give those guys plenty of say. The way they do things now…you got no control over keeping players. Any player can force a trade now. So gotta find that line. Make them happy…yet don’t let them run everything. Think ARod is a great example. He was right in get that crappy idiot McCarthy out of there. The drafting of Love also. I mean the have been one play short of the SB every season Love’s been there. I have to educated guess if they used that first round pick on any other quality player they get the ring. But I do like how now they got control over ARod. Told him we will take your opinion. But need to shut up and play more than bully the franchise. Seemingly an impossible task. They put him in his place….but gave him the most money of anybody. So win/win

PR/WR Britain Covey was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.

DB Andre Chachere was temporarily elevated from the practice squad.

Covey clearly has been the guy. He even brings a little spark as a WR I think. Small…but doesn’t matter much. He’s expendable. Allen really has a chance to develop. But he just doesn’t bring enough yet. Covey ahead of him in both areas. I like guys to win jobs actually on the field more than on paper. Feel like Covey is one of the few guys who did that. Hardly possible under Siri with little real football they have to actually judge guys. Goal of practice is to be the best way without injury to get football ready. But I still don’t think it’s far enough to judge better than actually playing. In game is just so different. Can you step up under fire in front of the crowd with huge stakes? How I judge the most. Hitting a sled and using jug machines is good practice habit….but not the way to make actual player judgement. Not all practice summer studs excel in real game. Some step up and need that. I know in basketball I actually was very accustomed to shooting and taking contact. But nobody around in a gym I wasn’t as good. Whatever that says.

Maddox out hurts, I would rather Covey take the return hits than Smith so......

IDK who is eligible or will be,but seeing some nice D players for NC state(vs Clemson in faux Death Valley )

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2023/consensus-big-board-2023?pos=ALL  Of interest to me is...................they have us with an early pick(which i will assume is the NO pick taking Ringo which I would be fine with) then they have us picking at 31 and we all know what that means(or should). Another interesting point is,not that we need one,but the #1 RB is at 16. Of course this list will change and is not gospel, but if that RB falls I'd take him. He really has no weaknesses to his game. He could be a stud. I just found both things "interesting"

Just tough to take a RB that high. Guy has to really be a lock to be a stud. Seems almost every year Great RB on day two. Of coarse everybody knows my theory of being a Day Two guy. RBs just consistently are there that play top notch. Not to mention there are always FA and trade options at that position. Don’t want to neglect it. But it just can’t be top priority. DB and in the trenches has to be the investment considering our roster. Fl don’t know if we keep Gardner at S. Would be two young S if we do. Locking in going CB high as extra worthy. The top corners really been going high. So probably worth trading up and really nailing our guy. DLine is the early stacked talent I see. So odds favor getting a stud there in the first. Really really potential strong class coming. I’m foaming at the mouth over several guys already. Super elite potential game wrecker looking guys.

Who you believe starts at slot corner? Or do you maybe see a collective approach? Like Gardner sliding, McPherson and Scott sharing depending on playcall? I could envision many versions actually. Very curious to see how Gannon sees things. Think this will answer many of the depth questions. Does he actually feel confident in Scott to be on the field? Feels like he trusts McPherson. So he’s my guess. Not much S backup help to cover Gardner. But could use LB to fill in for the SS spot. Maybe actually get Dean involved. Believe in that kid. So be nice for him to get some snaps.

Seeing that Trevor appears to still struggle when he has longer third downs. So I’d say that’s the goal. He doesn’t like pressure. But excellent when he’s clean. Key could be stopping the first down run. Feel it’s our biggest weakness arguably. They use motion a ton. So having our new guy in the slot….gotta have everybody on the same page. Could be an issue. Shouldn’t be big on just squaring up and lining up. But the change right before snap motion causes means you gotta think fast. If we play lots of Man be pretty obvious. Just takes one mistake leaving a guy completely uncovered in motion to screw us. But stop the run. Gotta feel like that’s the place to attack us. Not respecting their inside Oline. But Hargrave and Fletch want to penetrate. Pedey knows this well I’d say. So they will likely try and use that against us. Let them overpursue and squeeze a double team block to one side to really open up a hole. Just haven’t felt Gannon plays a style that fall gives advantages to our D against the run. Feels he plays that two high S I was predicting a bunch. Doesn’t want to give up big plays. But our starting DT aren’t run stuffers. Hargave kind of sucks at it. Think that’s why Steelers let him walk. Wasn’t he a NT for them.

Having the new slot guy will be tested I guarantee against the run. They’ll likely go right at that. Test him out super quick. Nobody knows how he’ll handle it. But can’t see Gannon changing everything expecting the backup slot to stink. So I foresee this being the start of the game. How our backup holds up there will dictate plenty. Got their speedster Kirk out of the slot also. So that’s the issue. Gotta have a S deep over him. Which we play. So think the slot play is huge for us. I expect McPherson. If he is solid we kick their butts. If he struggles we have to slide the whole D making us much more vulnerable and predictable. Going to run at him…can he get through and tackle. But coverage there is on their best WR who’s on fire. So you cant let him get behind you….never catching up after that. Main thing I’m watching. If they are successful running early downs at him keeping the third downs on schedule we are in trouble. Gets us off balance….also plays to their strength. First half will play out according to whether our slot is not serviceable.

Gotta say, I'm most excited about seeing the front 7 get after it vs Jags' OL. I was reading the Jags' weakest links on OL are LG and C. I'd like to see the DL attack there right from the go. I would also start by testing them with the LB/S blitzes to see how the Jags' OL can handle it.

On offense I think the Eagles' biggest advantage is the WR's/Goedert vs Jax secondary.

EAGLES - 35 | JAGS - 24

EXCITED…PUMPED LOL
