Does AR get key insider info from Pedey? Think it’s likely.

LOL totally different team/staff now. WHY do you think they let Ped walk???? Seems simple enough to me. I doubt there is much left for him to talk about from here

Agreed with everything you've said. We have hit on a lot of gems and that's kudos to Howie and the scouts.

The key for Howie now is continuing to make good moves. He doesn't have to hit on every move but he needs to continue to restock this roster. When we won the SB 5 years ago he was too sentimental and he didn't make enough difficult decisions. This time around if we want to be one of the dominant teams over the next few years we need to make good smart moves.

Right...like you can't hold onto Sanders and overpay just to be sentimental.   The business mind needs to take charge this particular offseason.

IDK that Hurts is still injured. He wasn't good yesterday. We could easily beat them(SF) up because they had no QB,so no need for Hurts to throw much. We were never behind. He will, however, have to up his passing game vs KC. Mahomes relies alot on moving around in the pocket much as Hurts does. I feel Mahomes injury if not healed would present a bigger problem. If he is a statue, we will destroy him all game

I feel if BOTH QBs play the same level we win.  Mahomes has to play better just for KC to have a chance.   Even in the poor game yesterday,  Hurts takes care of the ball and won't just give it away.   But odds are Mahomes will be Mahomes,  so Hurts will have to at least play average.

I  like our chances...we just have better lines.   Other teams have stud players and you see what happens when they play us.   CMC had that great individual effort, otherwise we dominated a SF line with McGlinchey and Williams.    Bosa struggled.  ( although not according to PFF..lol)  KC has two good lines.   It's different when facing us.

Mahomes is definitely the X factor though.

IDK that KC can handle Hurts. That's the X for me. I don;t think they can,he can run, throw, fake the throw and he's good at it. I agree Hurts needs to be alot better. I'm glad the easy schedule we had didn't make us "imposters" to the throne. We proved we can play in post season which I think we were all wondering about. I don't see the KC D being better than the 9ers. They squeaked by Cincy on a stupid penalty. Cincy was a good team, but Burrow is not as mobile as Hurts and I think that's the key. We took Kittle out of the game pretty well as they did Goedert. I expect Goedert will be a factor. IDK that they can stop him like the 9ers did. I suspect we can run on them as well, which should open hurts up for the play action. Despite Hurts not playing well,I thought we were more impressive than Cincy putting up 31 on what I feel was a better defense than KC has

At any rate win or lose, this has been a terrific season for us and I fully expect to raise the Lombardi again. I don't feel we are underdogs in any way

BTW no bash on Goedert. I saw him make some awesome blocks, but I think he will be a bigger scoring factor in the SB. I'm just so happy we GOT there

I don’t look at things quite the same. Sentimental part of course. Separate and do business decisions. You want cheap signings. Good value signings. But it’s ok to overpay a bit for a piece or two of the puzzle if you need to.

You trying to get a complete team as much as possible. So if you can figure out position and player for draft choices and money. Very likely you have one position or two that it’s better to spend a bit on even if it’s not considered cheap…to have a whole team.

Overpaying anybody isn’t ideal.

But if you can utilize draft picks and FA spending to get everything you want but can’t find a RB without using a high pick or getting better value options to come. Then I’d choose to maybe pay more than I’d like so the team can kick butt

Not a Sanders signing I’m being specific about. I’m taking whole roster picture. If it’s up to McPherson or having the free money to overpay a better outside corner. I overpay one guy. Not outrageous.

the San Francisco 49ers' fears became a reality, as quarterback Brock Purdy has a "complete tear" of the UCL in his throwing elbow, according to NFL Network.

Trying to get across my thinking of I’m not making many decisions about any one position or player alone. Every position options factor in against each other. I’m lining up the roster board by position. Free agent available by position. Trade possibilities by position. Draft targets by position. Then plugging into the computer simulating many different options.

Am I getting my thoughts and method across clear enough?

Hurts we are trying to do everything to sign.

Edwards I feel next. Maybe it’s a bit sentimental. But also what he brings. Leading the D. Hasn’t made any money yet. Really has a big feel that not paying him means you can’t earn or treated right by the organization. Not sure how to exactly word it. He’s earned it big time. Been grossly underpaid for what’s he’s been doing. Done all that heat leading the team.  Just a real bad look to not pay him and pay some outside guy instead. It’s always business. But you gotta have guys have some kind of faith and trust in the FO.

If Edwards gets offered a massive contract elsewhere….then guys will be glad for him and understand. It’s very possible.

  • Author

Basically I’m paying close attention to what positions are deep with options versus which ones only have a select one or two good options that fit.

  • Author

So take most any other pending FA than Edwards….and looking at the full range of options. Not planting my flag in the ground being inflexible about anybody else. We need a team. What’s the best one that can be assembled going forward?

  • Author

Plug in the 19 mil S versus what that can work for the rest of the roster. So on and on. Not looking at just one guy at all. Coming up with the best most likely big picture master plan.

Draft picks, money and options balanced all out to see what can be done to what I’d consider the most optimal.

So I can’t really make hard decisions on anyone player. Just don’t look at it that way. S effects RB effects Oline….

I hope so...because " Pedey" shouldn't know squat about this particular Eagles team.

You think the old Washburn Mush Rush should be the plan? Contain him in the pocket while collapsing it in lanes.

Not at the start....Turn our guys loose first and see what happens. I'd like to see our CBs win their battles, a couple guys bracketing Kelce.. and maybe a 5th guy rushing Hurts early just to show the look.

Right just not the easy piece to replace.  Pay for the more difficult ones.

You need to lock in guys you feel are harder to replace....guys that make impact.  Then you need to build the positions you feel are most important.  Then the cherries on top come last.

I expect them to try to sign some defensive players.

Yeah...too complicated.  Forget worrying about this current roster. It's done in 2 weeks.   You have a blank slate with your choice of who you want to build with... you don't look at who you will lose.

You don't need a computer.  The over analysis is what cripples the Eagles during their bad offseason.  The sentimental and worrying about " losing guys" is what causes them to overpay.

Simply look at who you think will be a cornerstone for this roster as you build the next one long term

Simple question...who do you think was a driving force for the success.  Who do you think benefitted from playing next to the other guy more?

Be ok if you lose guys who were along for the ride, you can replace them much easier.   Doesn't have to look good on paper right away.   Guys will develop,  guys will show up out of nowhere.  But if you think a player or two were so key to the success...you need to pay them.

In other words... you got 19 mil... if you feel that one stud was the main reason for the success of three 7 mil guys...then sacrifice those 3,get the one guy...and find the guys who that one guy can turn into 7 mil guys.
