The real money saved by trading Wentz happens in 2022. By trading Wentz now, and not waiting a year to see if he could turn it around, the Eagles now have him completely off the books in 2022. Their projected salary cap space goes from around $40 million to around $71 million by moving Wentz

It's definitely the biggest issue facing the team. It comes down to - how do they like the qbs they can get this year, what they think of Hurts, and what are you sacrificing at 6. If Chase or Pitts turns into Calvin Johnson, and Fields/Lance/Wilson is Josh Rosen, then I disagree with you. If Fields/Lance/Wilson is Josh Allen, Watson or Mahomes, you do what you have to do to grab them. Unless Hurts is Dak Prescott.

Time will tell.

No, after 4 games Hurts should be a Pro bowler

Isn’t this the gamble you play every year? Hindsight is always nice isn’t it. No guarantees in the nfl on players

So, if we took Hurts in round 1, what would you do then????

If I’m not sold on him I’m drafting me a QB worked out for AZ just fine.

Yep, always a crap shoot, we have Hurts, why try another crapshoot when you don't know what you already have? Wentz went downhill because we failed to get a supporting cast around him. We saw Mahomes get destroyed in the SB and I watched Lawrence get chewed up by the OSU defense. I'm putting a supporting cast around Hurts and let's see what he does. I;m fine picking up a QB for competition, but I'm not wasting draft capital on one. If one falls to me I like I will take him

After 4 games with a trash team you already know? Thats AMAZING insight

AZ had some supporting cast in place(like WR's????) We do not, or if so, it's minimal

You literally quoted my answer to the question and your asking again lmao

Aging Fitz no OL, injury prone RB no TE.

We have a way better Ol then AZ way better TE push at RB just no WRs

To some extent, but missing on a qb has much bigger implications. Just ask the Browns, Bears, Jets or any number of teams.

So if we got Hurts in round 1,you would give up draft cap for another round 1???

BTW how did Joe Burrow do last year? Tua? Darnold? All SB contenders? No because like us, they lacked the supporting cast

Hurts would not have success if he was plugged into the TB offense?

But then we’ll also have $21M of the $31M dead money to factor in next year due to using the post June 1 designations on Jeffery and Malik Jackson.

So 50m in cap give or take is still a good chunk and that likely will grow with other moves being made

Enough to get Wilson in '22 if Hurts can't get it done(but now we have some semblance of a supporting cast)

I will struggle through this year with Hurts, build up the other players that will entice a good QB to want to come here if Hurts doesn't work

So what have those teams Done that don’t have a QB Jags went to Minshew gave him a chance and are picking 1st.

Always a gamble but don’t think anyone is disagreeing that finding the QB is a huge important part

I would imagine a Graham extension will knock off some of this, plus you need $10-$15 million for draft picks, plus new deals for Mailata, Sweat, Barnett and Goedert.

WIlson said he would play for 4 teams. We are not one, simply because our team sucks and offers him nothing. Maybe he stays in Seattle. If so, I want to build a team he wants to come to in '22

So you would rather pay 40+m for a 34 Russell Wilson??? I mean hey that is one route to take not the route I’d go but to each there own.

Great plan wasn't it???? Now they get Lawrence lol

I don't think comparing a sixth round qb in Minshew is the same as a second round qb in Hurts. I think Hurts is much closer to Cousins/Prescott than he is to Sudfeld/Minshew. And I think we saw that when Sudfeld came in against the WFT.

And other players will come off the books and contracts will be redone extended etc. again it’s a 2022 projected cap the point is the Eagles will have money to play with in 2022
