And we did that exact thing this year. We knew going in this was a throw away season. I'd like for 2022 not to be a throw away. But- Howie is in charge.

Eh I had no problem with him starting this year. You had to see if he could improve as a passer to know. They had invested the draft capital in him (as dumb as it was) and ran Wentz out of town. They had to start Hurts this year, just to know for sure. But I think we've seen enough now to know who he is. And that's not good enough to be a starting QB over the course of a season.

QB of the future?

JJ McCarthy, Michigan freshman. At the end of the first half against Iowa he threw a Hail Mary from his 30 to the opposing goal line and he whipped it. Great arm. When Harbaugh gets through with him he'll be a top five pick. Can run too.

Are you suggesting we wait 3 more seasons, before we go after a qb for the future?

Canes got a future stud QB , in Jacurri Brown , got a whip on him , and wheels .

Not with that throwing motion.  He's a frosh and I am excited that we get another year or 2 of hopeful progress.

Exactly where I’m at.  Minshew isn’t the answer long term, obviously.  But the more he plays the more the team and other fans (dumb ones) will realize that Hurts is not the guy either.   And that’s all I care about for now.  Until we are able to get the long term answer.

I really don’t think either one of these guys is going to be the Eagles franchise quarterback. I tend to see the eagles splitting with Washington, beating the giants. The Dallas game likely comes down to if Dallas has anything to play for or trying to not be stuck in the 4/5 seed game against the rams. So the eagles likely finish 9-8 or 8-9.

At this point I think Howie Roseman and Jeffrey lurie are gonna sit there and say to themselves well if we had our franchise quarterback we probably could have three more wins this year. they’ll say we shouldve swept the Giants with how bad the Giants are. Washington offense is still not good even with their defense playing really well. With a franchise QB likely believe make themselves believe they could sweep Washington. And then I kind of think they’ll talk themselves into the fact that San Francisco game could’ve been a win if they had a better QB even though it wasn’t all Jalen hurts’ fault in that game.

So they sit there and say that well we’re 3 wins away from being a 12 (or 11) win team with a better quarterback. that is why I think they look to try to make a move for Russell Wilson or a Deshaun Watson in the offseason (still don’t think they get either). And they’ll probably attempt to sell those two on the fact if they were playing here there’s a chance the Eagles could’ve had 11-12 wins and be a playoff contender.

Of course not. Just commenting on a great-looking kid. And, of course, Michigan.

Jalen Hurts All Qb-grid Chart

Anticipation comes with repetition and trust. Personally I think he is in his own head right now and is afraid of making a mistake, so he is not letting it rip. Minshew did not have that same type of pressure on him, so he was more willing to take a shot like that one he threw up for grabs off his back foot to Goedert.

I can probably point to several plays by established QBs over the course of the season that make no sense. Throwing short of the marker on 4th down, forcing a pass into coverage late into a half, etc. All QBs do stupid things at times. I mean Wentz was a better passer then Hurts and how many boneheaded things did he do as a QB? You know like forcing a pass instead of taking the check down? McNabb didn't know that a game could end in a tie.

This is also why I am interested in seeing how Hurts does in the next game. Sitting on the bench and watching from the sidelines and then getting a bye week might do wonders for Hurts.

What throw was that?

I'd take Heinecke over either of these QBs in a second.

Meh he's on a 2 week tear, he's been barely passable as an NFL QB outside of that.  I want the mullet any day of the week.

There was a lot of close predictions this week within a few points of the final score, but @jamiller edged everyone out with a prediction of 33-16. This is his third weekly win, which times him with @Iggles25 for the season lead.

Bonus prediction winners:

@Alphagrand Minshew 68%+

@bpac55 Elijah Riley impact play

@EaglePhan1986 Minshew passing TD (prediction was made before Hurts was ruled questionable/Out)

@LeanMeanGM Minshews mustache is mentioned 2+ times during broadcast

@Swoop Minshew makes a throw Hurts can only dream of

@vikas83 Eagles rush for 150+ yards

That's a dumb narrative TBH.

It is, which is why I make fun of it so much.  He's not a rookie.  He's new to the starting position in the NFL, he's a young QB, but he's not a rookie.  No need for folks to lie to defend Hurts.  The bigger issues are things that he shouldn't be doing whether he's a rookie or not.  Running around a clean pocket in a circle is a bad look for any QB... rookie, vet... doesn't matter.

You said the same about Felisha's kid...I prefer to give some of these kids time before we anoint them.  The college/draft game is such a fickle beast though.  You have kids like Barkley being the 'next Montana' going in the 4th after 2 years of hype.  Then on the other hand you have Trevor Lawrence who mechanically regressed every year keeping up the golden child status.

I'm taking the victory with 27-18 at the end of the 4th quarter.  The rest was just garbage time anyway.... meaningless.

Looking more and more like we're going to have 3 mid-round 1st round picks.  3 Derek Barnett type picks.  I will say this.  I'm 100% anti trading 1st round picks for a veteran QB.  The sting would hurt less the worse these picks get however.  Still, in no way do I want to part with them.

If the season ended today, the Eagles would have picks 12, 13 and 17.

They need to throw some qualifiers on there because that is misleading as hell.

He's gotta be talking about DG's first TD...looked like a hospital ball right before the catch, till you saw it was dropped in a bucket perfectly.

Its real simple, Minshew was making the reads and throws and doing it in a fraction of the time Hurts takes

If a healthy Hurts had started that game, it would have been competitive into the 4th quarter.

Minshew made it look easy, he knew where to go with the ball and hadnt had live snaps in like a calendar year

But its cool, the charade goes on.  We'll keep starting Hurts so people on twitter dont cry.  Just piss away the rest of the season for nothing, cool....

That's what I was thinking.  That was actually a great throw.  Not sure how he could call it 'up for grabs', when it was right to Goedert and no defender was close enough to sniff it, let alone defend it.

👍👍Had a chocolate lab named McNabb who passed in 2015.
Have a yellow now named Tillman.

Our Jack Russell named McNabb passed away in his sleep over Labor Day weekend. Still miss him every day.

We have a Goldendoodle named Ivy now -- I tend to call her Iverson when she gets into trouble.

That's years down the road. I'm only advocating for Hurts in 2022, then making a decision then. We don't have to force a franchise QB decision this off-season.

They aren't mutually exclusive factors; Hurts can't wait until his legs go before he develops as a passer.  He needs to improve as a passer as of yesterday.

Washington’s offense the last two weeks has regressed from the previous two games. Carolina they looked good. The Bucs game was a little deceiving cause of the defense helping the offense generate points. They’ve scored 17 the last two weeks against seattle and raiders. Seattle i can understand as they’ve been solid in ppg allow. The raiders who are giving up 26 ppg and ranked 26th in the league in that category. Really the Bucs game they were fortunate their defense got two ints early in that game against brady that gave the offense short fields and 10 points. I like heinicke as a fringe starter but that offense is still not very good but since their defense is playing really well they can afford to be marginal. Would i take him over minshew and hurts? Idk. None are really the long term answer

In no way is it 'up for grabs', but rather perfectly placed with touch.

Dont even compare arm talent.

If you think Minshew has the same "arm talent" as Hurts you're only talking about arm strength and nothing else

Minshew is more accurate, had better touch, throws a better ball overall, and demonstrated more arm angles yesterday than Hurts has used in his entire life

We'll never run screen passes so well with Hurts, ever.  And Minshew was hitting the flats in stride, they guy was damn near perfect yesterday.

In real time before the catch, I had a brief memorial for DG's ribs because of how it looked at first.  Once it dropped though I changed my tune, it looked far worse at first.
