February 25, 20223 yr I worked with about 4 or 5 Ukrainian guys at a restaurant when I was home for summer during college. This was around '07, and they basically manned the whole restaurant: a couple servers, a dishwasher, and a grill cook. Those dudes worked hard, and they partied even harder. Coincidentally, they were renting down the street from my parents that summer. Great people. We hung out a lot in those few months, and I remember that they were basically there in an exchange program and that they all went to college in Sumy and some were from Kharkiv. I've been thinking a lot about those blokes lately...
February 25, 20223 yr Despite victory still seemingly imminent, does there come a point where Putin is embarrassed by this performance of his military? And if so, how does he react? Press on? Send more forces? Escalate to more destructive weapons? I am assuming he doesnt value the lives of his soldiers enough to actually call it off when he realizes this was bloodier than he thought it would be for Russia.

The Russian performance has surely been underwhelming, but they’re not using a lot of combined arms. It seems like most of their push has been with light infantry and precision strikes and Ukraine is putting up more of a fight than they anticipated. I think I’m the next few days you’re going to see them ramp up the armor usage a bit more, and things are going to get more dangerous for the civilians, as Russia has only so much precision weaponry in stock.
