Here is Elam vs Alabama. Metchie and Williams got locked down

That is not a good game bud...he'd get flagged for PI or holding on just about every play in the NFL, gets turned around when he can't be physical and is completely lost in run support.

A big takeaway from that game is that his tackling and run support definitely leave something to be desired. He whiffed a few tackles and didn't seem to do great disengaging from blocks. I know that's not really what you're drafting them for but still something of note.

I want impressed by the run support after acting you read says he is physical there too.

But those are 2 1st round WRs who got nothing.

Yeah supposedly he's good there.  Certainly not in that game.

But he played it like most CBs do. I'm more concerned with the coverage.

Admittedly, it is more than 30 years ago but... Kevin Allen in a landslide.

In 2011, Deadspin ranked Allen the fourth-worst NFL player of all time, noting "The ninth overall pick out of Indiana had a special way of blocking opposing pass rushers. He would lean his body forward, then fall down." and "Never had the Eagles had a combination of bad person-bad player that could match this guy."[2]

After a poor rookie season, Allen tested positive for cocaine after reporting to Eagles training camp in 1986. The Eagles released him in October 1986. Days after being cut, Allen and his roommate, Scott Cartwright, were charged with rape. Allen was sentenced to 15 years in prison, serving 33 months in prison, while Cartwright was sentenced to seven years.[3] He was banned from the league for life soon afterward.

I don’t know much about the Deadspin rankings, but nothing and nobody could be worse than Michael Haddix.  Not only because of his sorry 3.0 career yards per carry, but the fact the Eagles passed on 4 HOF players in the first round alone to draft him, including Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, and one Bruce Matthews — drafted with the pick after him.

2011.

I knew it had to have been longer than 2015, because I used up the entire Invision credit a good while ago, but I was thinking that it was during the Chip Kelly Error.

I remember when they targeted Jeremy Bloom in the draft because he was a great college returner.

But he was skiing fast!!!

If they want to replace Reagor on punt returns

He also catches a TD pass, lol.  Coach says we need points, this dude, hold my beer.

And Watson sucked as bad in his first PO game.

I just see no reason to rush to judgment when the alternatives are so poor - there's not a QB in this draft I'd waste a 1st rd pick on.

Either Hurts improves or he doesn't. Whining about it day after day is a bit boring, don't you think?

As far as Minshew, no rumor of anyone offering a 2nd or 3rd - if he was seen as a legitimate starting QB, Howie's phone would be ringing incessantly.

Funny, when I said something similar about Dillard and his trade value, you seemed to argue that point.

Should be clear to everyone by now that someone that's an opposite man in almost every conversation usually does so on purpose.

Yes the smartest guy in the room bs is probably towards the top of the list of annoying!

QBs are a little different, just look at this off-season. A starting caliber QB, even one who is merely 20th or so, always garners attention.

Dillard is going to get attention eventually, but teams often don't pull the trigger until the draft on these kinds of deals, and I doubt Howie has been aggressively shopping him, he's more the guy you buy after plan A (free agency) and plan B (the draft) fall through.

Yup.  He was a bad pick before the rape charges came out.

His coverage was ok at best.  Rewatch it, he needs to engage and stay engaged to stay keep a WR in his pocket.  Once he's disengaged/done PI or holding he doesn't look like he has a natural feel for routes.  Any contested catch is blatant PI, if he showed a little where he's able to lean in as opposed to just mauling a WR at the point of contest I'd be comfortable with him in the first.  Additionally, in off coverage he seems to flip the wrong way a lot.  He just looks kinda lost out there.   He's a helluva athlete, but I'm not seeing the coverage skills there that translate to a NFL officiated game, which is flippant at best in terms of how refs call it.

Side note...terrible game from Young there.  He was wildly off on a lot of throws.

He's the third best corner in the draft in my opinion and I'd be perfectly fine with him with one of those 15/16/19 picks.

the economics of the NFL has nothing to do with a QB who cant throw the ball and a team which knows this so we constantly run.

Economics say to get a  fuel efficient car currently but WGAF when you dont have a licence.

Yep, Lurie said he wanted DeVonta & Goedert to get more targets. If you add in another WR who needs targets it just compounds the problem of having a QB who can't throw well

That is why with all the info out there I still think they are going after Pickett in the draft. People may not like it, but to me it would depend where they would get him. If its at 15 or only giving up a late mid pick to move up sure. If they have to give up another 1st or 2nd, not worth the move up. But I still have a gut feeling hes out QB in 2022

He will be gone top 10.

Eagles will have more than 500 but probably less than 550 pass attempts next year.

4 teams had 500+ rushes, Tenn, PHL, BAL, NO.

Eagles 6.5 NY/A (13th in NFL), 4.9 YPC (4th), 43.4% of drives scored (10th), expected points (13th).

Eagles had least pass attempts in NFL, one less than Seattle at 494.

I expect Sirianni will pass a little more this year. Last year he tried putting in a college passing game, then went to a conventional run first NFL offense. This year I expect him to stick with the run based offense, but more play action, naked bootlegs and other passing plays designed to attack a defense that cheats its safeties closer to the LOS.

106 throws to RBs, 239 to WRs, 121 to TEs.

With Smith and Watkins, only way a 3rd receiver gets significant targets will be to supplant Watkins.

Goedert will get the lion's share at TE, but I expect Stoll to get targeted more as the 2nd TE who is often ignored by defenses.

Derek Young small school WO , very good pro day

And will be a reach. What makes Pickett as good as Mac Jones last year?

Only cost a late round pick.

1 minute ago, Sack that QB said:

In-trade division too.

They must have gotten no bites because Parker wouldn't take a pay cut.

2023 3rd isn't a bad return IMO.

Dolphins have loaded up in 2023 draft picks to make a run at a QB.

They will be in a position to outbid any team.
