I'm not fixated on Parker himself but it's obvious Howie & Lurie aren't really trying too hard to win this season.  They also aren't completely going for future because they re-signed Cox.  It's just a confused attempt at mediocrity

I would have done a 5th for Parker, but I wouldn't have done a 3rd for Parker and a 5th. There's typically a big difference in the talent available in the 3rd round versus the 5th. I'm sure Howie will get crucified because that's what a portion of the fan base likes to do but that didn't make sense to me.

Well that was fun. See you next year, "Eagles should trade for Devante Parker” rumors

Have to see how the entire offseason plays out before coming to definitive conclusions. For example, if they end up with the Honey Badger and come out of the draft with two ready to contribute rookies at positions of need that changes the dynamic completely. They still have cap space and three first round picks so they hold some cards to improve the team both short and long term.

The amount of teams trying to get WRs explains why lots of draft analysts are saying that WRs are going to go earlier than we think in the draft.

A lot of signs point to the Eagles going WR in RD1.

I’d be sort of shocked if they didn’t pick one in round one.  I see a lot of posters showing mocks of 3 defensive picks.  While I agree with a big need there, I think pigs fly before that happens.  More and more GMs feel the best defense is having a better offense in this league

And will be a reach. What makes Pickett as good as Mac Jones last year?

I bet he could be Jones. Not like that is a high bar.

He is going to be good. If he is there the Eagles can't hand the card in fast enough.

Not so sure.  Gainwell, Smith, Watkins, Pascal, Goedert, that's your 13.  Sanders, Smith, Watkins, Goedert, Stoll is your 12.

If you go 1st rd, you have to get someone who would bench Watkins to make it worthwhile.

2nd/3rd is more likely, get someone to challenge Pascal.

Pascal and Watkins are very upgradeable, but I agree they're more likely to draft a WR on day 2.

That is why with all the info out there I still think they are going after Pickett in the draft. People may not like it, but to me it would depend where they would get him. If its at 15 or only giving up a late mid pick to move up sure. If they have to give up another 1st or 2nd, not worth the move up. But I still have a gut feeling hes out QB in 2022

If they want him bad enough Douglas would probably give up the 4th for 15 and 19, that still leaves the Eagles with two, 1st round picks. If Pickett ends  up being a good QB, that’s a small price to pay.
It may be a deep draft, but it lacks elite talent at the top, and Pickett doesn’t get past Carolina unless something changes between now and the draft.

If only Watkins had a QB he would be a great deep threat

Watkins had 647 yards, 15.0 yards per catch, and caught 69.4% of the balls throw his way - that's not bad for a guy still figuring out how to play WR.

Upgrading Watkins is not a sure thing, you're not drafting Smith or Chase, more like Toney or Bateman last year. At that point, odds are you can land someone as good in the 2nd to 4th rounds.

If we're running a conservative, run based offense, an upgrade at #2 WR isn't a priority, same with upgrading Pascal. We may be happy with adding a WR with upside, and marinating him for a year. In fact, with Jackson the PUP, a H-back type in the draft may make more sense, unless Siri feels Stoll can handle a bigger role in the passing game.

Of course, it depends how the draft rolls. I don't think Howie has specific targets, he'll probably trade down with one of the 1sts, might pick up a 3rd (or an early day 4th) for Dillard, and with multiple picks in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rds, add players at almost every position.

agree 1000%  which is the Exact reason why I dont want to draft a WR or even sign a WR.

If...(fill in any decent QB's name) had Watkins he'd have 50 catches, 700 yards and 6-8 touchdowns

That's a reasonable expectation for Watkins to take in year 3 with Hurts as QB.  Not sure about the 6-8 TD thing though since he hasn't exactly shown himself as much of a weapon in the redzone.

Pats traded a 3rd for Parker and a 5th. No thanks.

I'd rather sign AJ Green to a one year deal than give up a draft pick for  DeVonta Parker.

Yes there is always the caveat that things can change but the looks of the offseason this year is very much meh.  They even said they aren't in go for it mode. Which is a nice luxury for a 12-yr GM to be in. The problem with the not go for it is they aren't in true rebuilding either.

How many free agency signings/trades are you guys actually sad we missed out on? Woods, Chark, Williams, Maye... Hicks?

The trade was Parker and a 2022 5th for 2023 3rd

A 2023 third from a likely playoff team is worth a 2022 4th. So they effectively moved up a round on day 3. Not a bad move for NE, and Parker is not being paid a lot relative to experienced WRs his age

Devante Parker is a minimal upgrade over Quez Watkins and the dude is never healthy. I can't for the life of me figure out why some fans need their team to pick up ''name players'' in the offseason. Trading for Parker and paying him 5 million would have been a waste of resources.

Of course they're in rebuilding mode, in the NFL, tearing it down has limited value, b/c there's so much change anyway.

Cox, Graham, Harris aren't going to block anyone or cause us to lose significant talent. They're one year stopgaps while young players develop behind them.

With the schedule facing the Eagles, they have a good shot at making the playoffs, but Howie isn't going to mortgage the future to do so. It's not like he's trading a couple 1sts for veterans on a win now drive, he's just keeping veterans around to stabilize a team that's been adding a lot of young talent.

Starters 25 and under: Hurts (24), Gainwell (23), Smith (24), Watkins (24), Mailata (25), Dickerson (24), Driscoll (25), Sweat (25), Williams (23), McPhearson (24).

Eagles will have more than 500 but probably less than 550 pass attempts next year.

4 teams had 500+ rushes, Tenn, PHL, BAL, NO.

Eagles 6.5 NY/A (13th in NFL), 4.9 YPC (4th), 43.4% of drives scored (10th), expected points (13th).

Eagles had least pass attempts in NFL, one less than Seattle at 494.

I expect Sirianni will pass a little more this year. Last year he tried putting in a college passing game, then went to a conventional run first NFL offense. This year I expect him to stick with the run based offense, but more play action, naked bootlegs and other passing plays designed to attack a defense that cheats its safeties closer to the LOS.

106 throws to RBs, 239 to WRs, 121 to TEs.

With Smith and Watkins, only way a 3rd receiver gets significant targets will be to supplant Watkins.

Goedert will get the lion's share at TE, but I expect Stoll to get targeted more as the 2nd TE who is often ignored by defenses.

Last year, Hurts had only 432 attempts in 15 starts, 28.8 attempts per game.   To hit 500 attempts, that would average over 29 attempts per game.  Seems easily hit, right?   But over the last 8 starts, Hurts hit or exceeded that mark one time (average 23.75 attempts per game).  Eagles' record was 6-2.   In the first 7 games, he hit that mark in all but 2 (average 34.5 attempts per game).  Record: 2-5.

So, if they throw that many times, it seems like the Eagles will be in big trouble.
