The Sadness just screened in Philly a few weeks back as part of the Philadelphia Film Festival.  I didn’t get down to see it but the reviews I’ve read has me looking forward to it.

Yeah that looks pretty gnarly - not sure I'll be into that.  I normally like the zombie genre but that seems like it's being super gory just to be super gory.

I've read nothing but good reviews. I mean 10 out of 10 good.

reminds me of books I just read The Rising. It’s zombies but instead of mindless brain eaters it’s ancient demons possessing the body of everyone once they die and they’re sadistic as hell. Some pretty graphic stuff

I can't recall if this was mentioned in here before but I finally saw The Empty Man on HBO Max and liked it quite a bit.  I was actually surprised how good this was.  

It's a police procedural/occult mash up that is very well made.  Probably going to pick this up on blu-ray.  Strong recommend.

Agreed!  I can't remember if I posted about it in here, but it sort of blew my mind (I wasn't really expecting much).  There have been many bad attempts to make this movie on what I consider to be a very scary character, but this hit the jackpot.  

Freaky which I think was direct to video was enjoyable enough horror comedy. Not particularly original, but worth the waste of 100 minutes if you have nothing better 

Antlers is finally for rent for 6 bucks.  Anyone see it ?

It also has ideas from the comic series "Crossed." Pretty messed up drawings in that series. Wow.

Such a weird cast. I couldn’t get past Kevin James but it was still enjoyable. 
 

I just saw the original version of Martyrs by the way. What in the actual F.  I don’t get disturbed by much, but this movie is gonna stick with me for awhile. It’s on Tubi right now and I’m gonna cry myself to sleep and hug my French bulldog.

French bulldog, I see what you did there. I didn’t know there was another Martyrs version. An absolute effed up film but it is good. America could never make a film like that. Too many restrictions. Not a movie for the faint of heart. I own the dvd and the director of the film gives a warning and explanation of what to expect before watching.

I just started Antlers. I haven’t heard good things but that broad from Dark Skies and that Communist show is in it.  I’m already into it. 

Dark Skies is probably my favorite alien/extraterrestrial movie btw other than Alien.  For any horror fans, I strongly recommend it. 

I finally got out to see the new Scream.  I enjoyed it but some of the praise I've been seeing feels a little much.  I know people that have going back out to see it again 3 or 4 times.  It didn't hit me like that but I liked it even though I feel like it tried to be too cute with the whodunit aspect of the movie, telegraphing the ending.    I am glad it's having success at the box office though.  Anything to get more horror movies in the pipeline.

I have seen all 5 during their original theatrical release. I enjoyed it but there’s always going to be deteriorations extending anything out this long. Some solid high points though.

Don’t get me wrong. Scream is one of the most consistent franchises in horror. There isn’t a bad movie in the bunch. I even thought the MTV series was enjoyable and kind of underrated.  I enjoyed the new one but among the horror social media circles I know and have seen posting about it, it was getting effusive praise. I even saw a few declare it their favorite in the series.  I just couldn’t go there.

I def watched the MTV show weekly lmao. I don’t remember much tho. I think maybe some reporter/podcaster was the killer in that?
