Hurts in 2022

74 members have voted

  1. 1. What will Hurts do in 2022?

    • Hurts will have an MVP level season and be the QB going forward.
    • Hurts will have a very good season and be the QB going forward
    • I expect Hurts to have a good to very good season. I'm still not sure if he's the franchise guy, but I'm open to it.
    • I expect Hurts to be good to very good next season in a loaded team. I'm fairly convinced he's not our long time QB though.
    • Hurts is better than some on the board give him credit for and I expect Hurts to improve next season, but it won't be good enough. We move on in 2023.
    • Hurts is an average QB, who may get slightly better in a loaded team. He is not good enough though.
    • Hurts is a glorified running back. He can be effective to a level, but this season will prove he can't beat good teams/QBs. He will finish the year though.
    • Hurts will regress this year. Tampa Bay gave the blueprint for beating him. He should be replaced by Minshew or Strong at some point in the season.
    • Hurts is not a good QB. He should be replaced by Minshew or Strong at some point in the season.
    • Hurts sucks. He's a bottom 5 QB. He should be replaced by Minshew or Strong at some point in the season.

It would be grotesque to give a $40 mil extension to Hurts.

I’d rather trade him. Let another team sign him to that sort of money.

Even with a good year, I wouldn't be able to extend him next year due to everything he has done previous. Mariota, Trubisky, Bortles all had one season that showed lots of promise and came crashing down.  He should have to perform this year and be good half way through next year for an extension, but Howie loves his early deals so who knows. I definitely wouldn't go near 40.

Great logic there that you don't think Hurts is any good yet think he will be demanding a $40M a year contract.

That's about the going rate of good starting QBs of late and the manis already trademarking...so I'm going to guess he thinks he's worth something

Edit: between 30-50 seems to be the rate atm

I just watched Steve Young on a football life.... He said it's nice to be able to run but you can't survive the QB position just running around. He said that your number one job is to sit in the pocket and deliver the football accurately and on time that's your job and you have to do it to be a QB.

What would that old fart know??

It isn't what we think he's worth. It's what Hurts -- and his agent -- think Hurts is worth. And if Howie thinks Hurts is worth what Hurts thinks Hurts is worth. He probably will, I suspect Howie views Hurts like he views JJAW and Reagor.

Think about who it is you're talking to. You need to use language he can comprehend. Draw him a picture with some crayons.

Oh, be nice🙂. If Jalen plays like we fear Jalen will play, RTK will suffer enough trauma.

Alright so QBs that make at least $30M per year:  So you believe that Jalen Hurts will play well enough this season to show he's at least as good as all of those QBs.

We do not believe Jalen will play well enough. But what we think does not matter. It is what Jalen thinks. If he feels he has played well enough, he will demand Cousins type money at a Minimum.... As this is a year or more later he may demand Stafford type money....

Nope and if he proves us wrong the next two years, I would celebrate paying him. But right now, he plays like a few players that no fan base stayed excited about for too long. Same OC, great receiving options, #1 running game, #1 OLine. No excuse. The defense I feel will hand him shorter yards too.

He would have to play well enough to demand that money though.  You understand this right?  Reagor could demand tomorrow that the Eagles pay him like AJ Brown but that doesn't mean the Eagles would then give him a contract like AJ Brown.

Correct, Reagor can demand all he wants, but the Eagles would not pay. Hurts can also demand want he wants. But this is based by what he feels. Not you I or the Eagles.  If the Eagles make the play-offs and win a game, he may feel the reason was his play, regardless of his stats. So, he demands 40 mil. Eagles then need to decide if he is worth it or to cut ties. Not difficult concept to understand. Where you are missing the point is what you or I feel is "Well enough", may be entirely different then what he or his agents think.

Bottom Line is he needs to show us he can throw the rock. No one needs a running back playing his position.

Hurts throws for 3800 yards, 63% Completion percentage, 21 TDs, 14 INT's and runs for 800 yards. Is that good enough for you to pay him 40 Mil? Because if the Eagles make the play-offs and win a game, that is exactly what he will be asking. These stats are good enough for middle of the pack QB. Anything worse and I cut ties. Anything better, I need to look at the film to decide. I could care less about his running stats. I need to see what he does passing this season. I do not feel that will improve, but I could be wrong....

Anything less than 25 passing tds with this set up should immediately be replaced or replacement drafted. 14 ints would be tied with Carr, Tannehill, Burrow...one of these isn't like the others with 34tds and a 70.4 completion percentage lol  if he goes 26/10 3800 63.5% and uses the middle of the field and gets ahead of his receivers for the deep ball, he should get another look in 2023....anything less, no. If he blows them out of the water....then it's truly the Hurts era in Philly. I'm not expecting him to do a one season turn around with his trait set, but who the hell knows.

You really don't seem to understand that the Eagles would have to be interested in paying him that much in order for them to actually pay him that much.  And if he plays well enough for the Eagles to then believe he is worth that much then that's good a thing.

No that probably wouldn't be good enough. That's be a fairly significant increase in turnovers for a guy who does not turn the ball over at a high rate.

What middle of the pack QB has been signing $40M per year contracts?

Actually, that would be about right.  If you extrapolate his number last year, taking his YPA and getting to 3800 yards, that would be 11.5 int's.  But, just like anything else, the more you do something, the more chances you have to throw an interception.  A guy can go a couple of games with a low interception percentage, but the more you throw, the more the chances of an interception increase.   Kind of like a pitcher in baseball having an ERA under 1 for the first two months of the season, law of averages says that is not going to hold up.

If he is throwing more this year, he is definitely throwing more picks for how off the mark he was. The attempts alone will put him around 12-13ish. If he keeps running the way he did and they stay only at 9int, chances are he had ran himself out of the job. would be great if he went 21/9 3800 63% , but definitely short of the 40 mark. Hell a few or those 40 mill guys I would of paid, and I like them overall as QBs.
