something that stupid people, with stupid names, like arthur, do

Weird game, and no one was really close with predictions, but the winner goes to @Aerolithe_Lion who was the closest with a prediction of an Eagles win, 36-22.

Bonus winners:

@devpool, @Fresh_Prince, @jamiller all with Sanders over 100 yards rushing.

@Utebird with Quez Watkins TD.

You guys ever see lots of snow over there? What’s the worst winter in PA that comes to mind. We have no snow here yet.

Is this Eagles team better than 2017 so far?

I dont think so. It has better weapons in the passing game, but 2017 Wentz, and playoffs Nick Foles made that passing offense light years better than what Hurts can do with ours.

While our running game is still dominating, and  Hurts is a better runner than Wentz was, our RBs arent nearly as physical. Sanders is very, very good. But we dont have the hammers we had with Ajayi and Blount to help really wear teams out.

Maybe this defense is better. Or, its at least built better to play in the current NFL. Both were weak against the run. The 2017 defense was bad against the pass. Our secondary is lightyears better now.

I think 2017 team was possibly better (but its very close), but this years NFL is weaker.

It would be really cool to see both teams face off. Would be a hell of a game I think.

What got into Foles in that playoff run? It’s like once he got hot he couldn’t be stopped. He was unfortunately never the same after he left Philly.

he was good here for a few games. Had the 7 TD game in his first go round here.

Left and sucked.

Came back, won the super bowl outplaying the GOAT in his prime.

Left and sucked again.

Not sure what it is, but theres something about Philly for him. Even though he played for different coaches during both of his tenures here, they got him to find magic no other team could ever replicate. Dont know. Hes just a philly legend and I guess thats all he was ever meant to be.

Any safety FAs out there worth looking for, a la Suh/Joseph signings?

All in on BlankenshipEra but looking at depth.

Did my SN change yet?

Davis will return.  Goedert will return.  CJGJ will likely return.   Barnett was as much an addition by subtraction as he was a loss.

All those listed for 2017 were lost for the year.  And there are missing names as well... Maragos was gone for the year.  Ronald Darby missed a bunch of games with the dislocated ankle and we had to rely on rookie Rasul Douglas for about 8 weeks.  There were others as well.

TBF, Darby was subtraction by addition coming back in 2017.  He was just terrible his entire time here.  Mills with all his worts was still the #1 after his return.

Look at where he went... always bad teams with terrible offensive lines and no weapons. I always wondered what he could have done with a good O Line and some weapons..

The 2017 Super Bowl team was much better defensively than this current Eagles team; this team is much better at outside CB, but much weaker at safety and nickel.  LB was better in 2017.  DL a bit better at pass rush in 2022, but much worse at run stopping.

Offensively the teams are similar -- rush offense might even be a shade better than 2017; pass offense a bit down.  Talent level overall is pretty similar, IMO.

Prime Rod is equal to what CGJ gave us.  Jenkins, was great that year, one of the 2 years during his tenure here where they got a full season of positive production out of him.  For as great as he disappeared for long long long stretches.  Epps is quite a nice player it seems.  Minus the INT production, I'd say S was a push till this injury.  Slay is obviously better than Mills, but credit to Mills that year keeping the #1 spot and being good enough.  The book wasn't completely out on him.  Darby, well...they should have stayed with Douglas even after he came back.

Chimp Kelly simplifying the playbook to fit on a napkin after the 27-2 season I think was a big part of it.  He's always been an incredibly streaky player.  He was a surefire 1st rounder had he came out early...but stayed and it backfired and he played behind one of the worst college OL's of all time.  He's a guy that needs a good OL in front of him and to get in a rhythm.

I remember he played for the Rams and sucked.

So Eagle fans who do you guys consider your biggest rivals outside of the East?

I'm just glad my prediction when we drafted him that he would be the QB to give us our first SB came true.  I really liked him a lot in college in his true Napoleon Dynamite days.  Sucks I had my SN changed so that I wouldn't be dragged into the Foles vs Wentz debate lol.

Jeff Fischer Rams.  Everybody sucked under him.

100% Jeff Fisher Rams. And then the Jags. And then the Bears with one of the worst offensive situations I've ever seen.

Since 2006 - Saints

Vikings and Saints are the most prevalent ones with a particular disdain for the Saints still.

I’m actually happy you guys drew Minnesota in 2017 instead of the Saints. I had a feeling the Saints could have put up more of a fight. You guys have struggled against them in the playoffs unfortunately. You guys own the Falcons though in the playoffs.

That's a good point. Nick didn't have a lot of escapability and IIRC he got the crap beat out of him in Arizona because his O line sucked there. Anybody is gonna get a little gun shy after while, ask David Carr.
