Sucks, still!  Taking an additional 10mg of my meds to help get over this and it's not working.

Please no more Rojas. I just can’t with that guy.

IDK. I’m by no means ready to write the guy off. He was productive at the plate in the regular season, and has elite defense. He’s also cheap and controllable.

I’m fine to platoon him in CF next year.

He can't hit major league pitching. He might figure it out at some point, but he needs to figure it out in the minors.

Dump Stubbs and make Marchan the backup catcher for next year. If that makes some of the other players mad, they can shut the ef up.

He had a much larger sample size in the regular season where he hit .302. To say he can’t hit major league pitching is unequivocally false.

He hit over .300 in the regular season.

He hit under .100 in the post season. The regular season is meaningless, ask the orioles and the braves

He needs more time to develop his hitting more. It got exposed by better pitching in the playoffs. A lot of the take away from that season ending presser from podcasts of beat reporters is Dombrowski may start him in triple A to refine his hitting and then bring him backup later in the year.

149 at bats isn't really enough to override how terrible he was in the playoffs. Guys who can't cut it in the major league often have good streaks (Dom Brown anyone?). The eyeball test of the playoffs showed he has no idea how to hit. He needs to spend next year in the minors figuring it out. They'd be far better off with Hoskins back at 1st, Harper in the outfield and Marsh playing CF every day. Marsh is a damn good fielder and his hitting has really come around.

Disagree..... Rojas had plenty of contact in the playoffs..... what went fair went at someone..... he had a bunch of foul contact which can be worked on. His misses were the same as everyone else..... chasing garbage that was in Delaware's zip code.

So 149 at bats wasn't enough to show that he can hit major league pitching, but 43 postseason at bats is enough to show that he can't? Ok, makes sense...

When the GM says he is starting in the minors to work on hitting that does say he can't. Can that change? Hopefully.

During the presser when it was discussed, the sense was he was gonna be in triple A trying to get his swing better to start the year. Makes me feel  a couple ways about things: 1. I think they feel as if harper wants to return to the outfield. If he didn’t then I think it would make sense to have Rojas on the mlb roster. as your depth is basically castellanos, marsh, schwarber and pache (maybe cave i doubt). You’d want Rojas to be a defensive replacement late in games or marsh in LF with him at center 2. Feels like if harper wants to go to back to the OF he’s doing it for the best for the team and trying to get rhys back. Which is best for the team cause the Phillies desperately need a hitter that works counts and gives professional at bats nearly every time. Rhys might be super hot or cold but he gives protection in that lineup cause pitchers know he’s gonna give quality at bats and make them work. Which benefits guys around him. 3. He’s not ready. I think they thought Rojas would just be up for 2 weeks due to injuries and then sent back down when he got called up. But since his defense was so good and he showed to be competent at the plate during that time they just couldn’t. But the playoffs showed he needs the time down there to get himself ready for the best of the mlb.

Against real pitching, yes.

His BABIP in the Regular Season was .410, which means that he was extremely lucky.

In the playoffs, it was .143, which means that he was extremely unlucky....  So he's probably somewhere in the middle -   a .250-.260 hitter with little power and plus speed.

Throughout the minors, he has a K% of less than 20%.   It bumped up to 25% in the regular season and then ballooned to 33% in the playoffs.

From looking at his percentages based on pitch type, it's pretty clear that he has trouble catching up to high velocity fastballs.

He's going to have to develop into a slap hitter who hits balls where there are no fielders or legs out bunt/infield hits.   His defense is elite, but I doubt his hit tool will ever be better than replacement-level.

Honestly, I think we should sell high and include him in a trade package for another outfielder (Trout?) and have a Marsh/Pache platoon in CF until Crawford is MLB ready.

Definite no to Trout - he's toast at this point as far as health goes.

Im guessing I’d they sell high on Rojas it’s likely as a package for soto if they go for a bat. Soto makes the most sense as they’ve been linked to him since the beginning of last year and even the deadline this year.

Gonna make this worse is scherzer and Garcia out for the rest of the World Series
