July 18, 20242 yr I’d like Mullins more if he wasn’t basically left handed Rojas this year and even last year
July 18, 20242 yr A little over a week ago as I was perusing the Phillies’ outfield possibilities, my "walking fingers” came across an interesting name that would NOT be helpful this year, but is in my humble opinion a very good opportunity for the long term. Because it was not helpful in the short term, I didn’t bring it up. However, that possibility has seen a significant rise in profile over the past few days. Any guesses who the player is? I believe he is currently on a one year contract and a free agent at the end of the season.

Idk but i think the suspects we will hear about are Taylor Ward mark Canha lane Thomas Jacob young Jake McCarthy (don’t think with dbacks in the WC they deal him and especially not to a team they could see in the playoffs) Randy arozerena guys i think are either too expensive or things changed bellinger— broke hand so out too long and potential opt in happ— owed too much money Robert— too expensive in terms of prospects Rooker— hasn’t played OF since May and is a bad fielder. Bat i think they love but I’m guessing if they didn’t want schwarber playing the field they don’t want rooker either do think there’s a couple relievers they’d be in on not named miller: finnegan (Nats) Kirby Yates (rays) Pete Fairbanks (rays) Carlos estevez (angels) Tanner Scott (marlins) Tyler rogers (giants) Jason Adam (rays)

The player I have in mind is an " offseason acquisition as a Free Agent” name.

That seems really fishy to me. It would be like the Phillies willing to part with Tijuan Walker.
July 19, 20242 yr Good input. FWIW, the player that caught my attention at the beginning of last week was Jarren Duran. He is acquirable as a Free Agent in the Offseason. Clearly he isn't a Soto, but he won't break the bank the way Soto will. Red Sox aren't going to be sellers this season, and they will be highly motivated to resign Duran, but the contract history they have with Duran isn't one that would inspire loyalty from him. As I said, currently on a one-year contract and a free agent at the end of the season. My interest only got higher after the ASG.

Pretty sure the media is already nominating him for the hall of fame. As much as i would love to light him up, this stretch of games is brutal. They face 22 straight against teams at or above .500. And 11 of 13 series against teams at or above .500. Phillies have the 7th hardest SOS in the second half. The brave have 28th. If we get some breaks of missing guys I’d be pretty content. I’d like to win the division as early as possible so we can get some guys rest then get them back up with like a1-2 weeks left and let them find a groove again.

Don’t think he does but I’d be surprised if they aren’t involved. Too much smoke around it last year for them to not. I do think if they get him it likely means trying to unload Castellanos contract
