But really after the Nats they got 3 at Atlanta, 3 at royals, 4 vs. Braves and 3 vs. Houston. That’s 13 games against playoff caliber teams and Atlanta seems to have turned the corner in sf. You have to at least go 7-6 over that stretch to get me back on they are back. Can’t go 6-13 vs. teams over .500 before the marlins series and then after the Nats go under .500 again.

My target is 11-6 given that 11 of the next 17 are at home. Anything less than 10-7 would end my persistent optimistic hopes.
August 15, 20242 yr Find it amazing the dbacks have the 6th best odds to win the NL at +900 and to win the WS +2000 on DraftKings. They might overtake the dodgers and manage to get the 1 seed. Although their schedule after the rays and marlins series is definitely harder

I like seeing starters going several innings, and I like a good pitching duel (which means a fast game as well), but forcing some slob to stay in for 6 innings when he's down by 6 would be a disaster. Perhaps mandatory 3 innings could work, but still, the thought of a bunch of rules to say when a pitcher can or cannot come out of a game doesn't sit well with me. We already have rules on pitchers needing to face 3 batters or end the inning (which I like), and position players only being able to be used after a 9-run deficit or something (which I don't like).

I think it’s stupid and ruins an exciting game going to extras. I’d do the 3 inning rule. I hate that brewers do this, where every inning there’s a new pitcher. It also probably helps the pitching market for starters

IF MLB insists on having a base runner to start an inning, at least have the runner start at 1st base.

The fact they are in scoring position already is ridiculous. I also don’t think it’s all that indicative of who would win if you didn’t put the runner at second base. I’d also be more open to it if you played 2-3 innings of normal baseball and then did it.

Why not add a 12th guy on the field in football in overtime, to prevent ties? The pitch clock gets on my nerves, too. Baseball is a non-clock sport. Football, hockey, and basketball are all clock sports. Baseball is an untimed sport. So the pitch clock is stupid. I think a better way to prevent players from taking too long would've been for the umpire, at his discretion of some generous amount of time, to issue a balk if a pitcher takes too long, or issue a full strikeout if a batter takes too long (or, let the pitcher pitch as soon as he wants, whether the batter is ready or not, to prevent a batter from taking too long).
August 15, 20242 yr I give credit to Rojas. When they got hays he really wasn’t playing. And since then he’s been way better with the bat. Still has some I’m gonna try to hit a homer but it’s far less then it was

Can’t hit lefties and will strikeout a lot. He’s fine if you platoon him. I actually think Rojas if he quits trying to be a power hitter can have a Michael Bourn-ish career
August 16, 20242 yr Frankly, being up 9 to 1 I probably would’ve pulled wheeler. you want to get him rest when you can and not put extra pitches and innings on him.
