September 3, 20241 yr If they're willing to throw just anyone out there I'm willing to give up 10 runs for way less money
September 4, 20241 yr The blue jays pitching is bad so they’ll score runs. Problem is you are gonna have to use Walker at some point to get through this and he likely gives up runs
September 4, 20241 yr 2 is better than nothing. But to have bases loaded twice and only score two runs is awful

Not that i want him to pitch. But his only role is long relief to get you 2-3 innings and not have your bullpen need to go 8.1 innings

Nice to get Alvarado some work coming back from his absence

He's making $18 mil isn’t a reason to keep a guy if he can’t give you 2-3 innings here without imploding.

They knew he wasn't good enough then

They knew he wasn't good enough then This goes back to the Phillies sunk cost fallacy. They’ve invested so much into him with the $72 million that they don’t want to admit that it was a mistake. The fact that they’re gonna pay $72 million for a guy to be a long reloef pitcher is insane to begin with. Because you didn’t designate for assignment you had to start Phillips who’s been bad. Allard has actually been decent at the MLB level this year should’ve been starting that game. Maybe he sucks in this game. But he at least showed you through 4 starts he earned it as he was consistent to give you 4-5 innings and three or less runs.
September 4, 20241 yr Sosa faced 11 pitches tonight. Swung at 9 of them. Again why when Sosa begins playing more and more he gets exposed more. Literally swung at crap his first at bat to strike out and this at bat he struck out on a horrific pitch to strikeout

But his second time through the avg jumps to .339 and 7.62 era. And third time it’s a disaster of .340 with a 9.69 era. Thomson should’ve pulled him as soon as he got to the second time vs. vlad

And the Phillies use analytics a lot. So the fact that it was still a two run game, should’ve been in his mind I have to get him out before facing guys the second time because where he tends to struggle. If they were getting blown out still then it makes sense to just let him keep going. But since you got it down to 2, you can’t leave him in there to face guys a second time because it’s been proven he implodes then .
September 4, 20241 yr If we weren’t 3-16 with RISP we likely are winning this game even with the awful start from Phillips.

It’s skewed. Because if you watch them enough, they have these games like against the Royals. Were they just go bananas and it boost their stats are. Meanwhile, if you watch them enough, they do this will be good for two games and then be bad for like 4 to 5 to even 6 games were they just can’t it was runners in scoring position. And it’s shown that in the playoffs going back to the Astros series.
September 4, 20241 yr lol not pinch hitting hays for marsh against a LHP. I get Castellanos is out and removed Rojas but really can survive two innings if hays comes up with a hit against LHP that he hits well.
