What amazes me is that people look at their overall stats and are like oh no look they’re pretty good. It’s skewed. Because if you watch them enough, they have these games like against the Royals. Were they just go bananas and it boost their stats are. Meanwhile, if you watch them enough, they do this will be good for two games and then be bad for like 4 to 5 to even 6 games were they just can’t it was runners in scoring position. And it’s shown that in the playoffs going back to the Astros series.

Yup. If they could hit with RISP they'd probably win 110 games even with the inconsistent pitching in the 4-5 spots

The frustrating thing is this goes back to the Astros World Series.

that said Thomson should’ve bunted with Stott up. Runners 1st and 2nd no outs. LHP on the mound which a Stott doesn’t hit well against. That’s the time to bunt and Stott has shown he can get a bunt down

This team doesn't do small ball like that. It's frustrating

Even when they try doesn’t mean they successfully do it. Last game vs. braves they attempted it and failed

Turn it back off

Without Dumb and Dumber pitching this game would be a blowout

No walk off from Toronto please. I still have ptsd from 93

Not sure why we are trying to be cute and not going with Hoffman or estevez after a day off

i don’t mind strahm but really he’s not a closer

Whew

Good thing I turned it back on or else they don't close it out!

Harper is actually hitting well his last 12 games. He’s hitting .362 (17-47). Needs to get his power back which with his injury might not happen and he might need more time off then they can give him for it to fully heal

his slashes over those 12 games: .362/.426/.511/.937

That’s a stat line

I didn’t realize Castellanos had started every game (so far) this year

Pretty sure he only missed five games last year. And if i remember correctly it wasn’t because he was injured or anything. It was down the stretch they were giving guys rest knowing they were locked into the 4 seed

We did it!!!

Not going to lie, one of the most irritating things on Twitter with Phillies fans is that anytime Bryce Harper doesn’t come through or he winces a little bit, he needs to be rested for two weeks.

First, if his injury would take 1-2 weeks to get him closer to 100% then the Phillies probably would’ve already done it. They would’ve taken the long view of postseason means more than these games. kind of like they’re doing with Alec Bohm.

Second, the fact that they didn’t tell me it’s more than just a couple weeks of rest. It tells me it’s likely closer to something where he needs 6-8 weeks to get himself back closer to 100% (won’t happen til offseason) or he might need a minor surgery in the off-season to fix the problem (ala realmuto needed 4-6 week surgery). So the two weeks of rest is not gonna improve him enough to cure what is ailing him. As long as it’s not getting worse then it is better  he plays through it to learn what he can’t do with the injury and get himself into a rhythm like he has over he last 12 games.

That one will never go away.  After Lenny hit the big HR I though it was going to game 7.

Also, I was at the 15-14 game and Mitch meltdown (how many of those did we see?).  My only WS game in person.  That series is going to haunt me to my grave.  '93 was my favorite team as well.  This one is pretty close to the top, mind you.

I remember that game in '76 like it was yesterday.  Day game of course.  Great memory.

So Walker can be a mid-game reliever for 2 innings (maybe 3 max) when the Phillies are down big.  That's his role.  Maybe doesn't pitch more than once or twice this year and then he's gone.

Looking at the 1st inning, it was bad but not as bad as it looked on the stat sheet.  Two hanging curves were the REALLY big mistakes plus two other normal hits with one being a routine ground ball single to right.  The other four were not Phillips fault.  Three bloop singles and a mistake by Sosa which easily could have been an error.

Any way you look at it, the 1st was a disaster but it very easily could have been a 3-1 game moving into the 2nd and we might have gotten another inning or two out of Phillips.  When is Turnbull back?  Rather take a shot on him or Allard at this point.

Allard can’t come back until September 10th. Since he was sent back to the minors. Pretty sure turnbull had a set back. His season is likely over but they said if he does come back he’s being used out of the bullpen. Has a bullpen session sometime this week.
