October 9, 20241 yr dodgers and Phillies having the bye week and won’t make it but really i dont think it was the bye week that got either of the top 2 seeds. The Phillies have just not played all that great for months now. They peaked in April and May. The dodgers got decimated by injuries. Glasnow done in mid August was the real killer. Then not having May or kershaw to have to start buhler and a BP game. having to go buhler and bullpen game is what’s going to sink them.
October 9, 20241 yr Don’t know how the Phillies are -120 tomorrow but that feels like easy money on the Mets at +100
October 9, 20241 yr I would like to also point out I rather have had Blake Snell for 2 years and not give Aaron Nola a seven year contract. Nola wasn’t the biggest reason they lost today but he also isn’t worth seven years and 170 million. Nobody was giving him seven years on that market. Go look at all the pitchers and how many years they got. Him and Yamamoto got it. It’s going to really hurt in years 5-7 when they are paying him 20+ mil for being as washed pitcher. Blake Snell got 2. won a cy young and couldn’t get more than two years. You can say whatever you want about Blake Snell but when he's healthy he’s an ace and he would’ve been under contract for 2 years. Dave Dombrowski deserves a lot of blame for what this roster is. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Matt klentak’s contracts are far less of a hinderance than the ones Dombrowski has done. Harper, wheeler and realmuto were klentak contracts. Klentak traded for Sanchez. He had some bad ones but not nearly where Dombrowski is. Schwarber and Castellanos are fine. But Walker is a disaster. Nola for 7 years is an issue. Turner for the length he got is an issue. Then trading a top 75 prospect for a platoon outfielder. Then adding hays, Merrifield and Castro thinking that it was good enough. Frankly in 2-3 years have to hope Crawford, painter and miller live up to their billing others you are sunk by a multitude of bad contracts and likely 4-5th place team for possibly 5-6 years if not More
October 9, 20241 yr Ballsy by the padres. Then again darvish would be on normal rest for game 5 if it gets there and he threw a gem on Sunday.

This was about you don’t trade a top 75 prospect and a trade chip like that to get a player that you have to fix to be ann every day player. That is a trade asset that is very valuable that you could’ve cashed in on a better more proven every day player. Go look at the deadline this year. No top 75 prospects by baseball America were traded. The Phillies traded one for a guy that had a high strikeout rate and couldn’t hit left-hand pitching. And you sit here 2.5 years later with the same issues, he’s basically useless the next game as the Mets are starting a left-handed pitcher I'd take back O'Hoppe in a second for that bum Marsh, especially since Realmuto's offensive decline.
October 9, 20241 yr The Phillies really aren’t even close to competing in this series. They are very lucky they haven’t already been swept.

His free agent signings have been average at best, and his trade acquisitions have all been dog crap.

I don’t know if any stories will come out in the off-season. More of an eagles thing when things go poorly. But they went on that Rockies and giants road trip in the end of May and were never close to the same team. We can say they just peaked during that April and May but I think something happened in that locker room. And there was a story where I think it was, Matt Gelb said, Thomson went off on some guys in the locker room, particularly Soto. So I’m guessing there is more going on the what we know for them to play as mediocre as they have for a while now. Pretty sure a lot of guys were upset when they traded away Merrifield, too
October 9, 20241 yr Not feeling too good. Just think we could play well tonight and still face elimination at home on Friday! So, Ok with Ranger tonight and lights out Wheeler on Friday. That's our best shot. Bohm better not be in the line up again, ever! Whatever he has is becoming contagious. Confident bats will be better tonight.

Confident bats will be better tonight. You got more confidence then i do. The last couple elimination games for the Phillies have been brutally bad hitting. They’ve scored 1 run vs. Astros in game 6 and 2 in game 7 vs. dbacks. I hope I’m wrong but feels like they just get destroyed tonight.

Yeah - Ranger will be gone by the 4th and we'll be down by at least 4
October 9, 20241 yr Well at least the betting lines have flipped to Mets favored at -112. Don’t know why it was +100 last night. I got in at +100

They were never keeping him cause of realmuto’s contract. Frankly i do like Tait coming up. I think he has a chance to be special. That said ive been saying this for a while, it was poor resource management. You never trade coveted prospects for guys who fall out of favor with their organization after a year of being called up and that you have to fix. Easily could’ve gotten a more proven everyday player. The Phillies weren’t the team that was capable of fixing his issues. They haven’t even gotten Stott, Bohm and Rojas to fix theirs. They put way too much faith in Kevin long. There’s a reason why teams have moved on after 3-4 years. I’m not even upset with long about the veterans being what they are. It’s on them and that’s what they developed into. But Rojas, marsh, Stott and Bohm have not nearly developed into what they envisioned. Bohm is the closest but I’d argue since his 4 hit game in Detroit at the end of June he’s basically given you 2024 Stott numbers
October 9, 20241 yr Nola wasn’t the biggest reason why they lost last night but when you look at his last two playoff starts, it is bad for a guy they are paying seven years at $172 million. There’s no justifying it. And they were 2 massive games for the Phillies and his outings while not horrific were massive letdowns given what the Phillies think he is. last two playoff starts (game 6 vs. dbacks and game 3 at Mets): 9.1IP, 8 ERs, 7.71 ERA, opponents hitting .290, .357 OBP, .684 SLG and 1.041 OPS
October 9, 20241 yr Good news, Quintana of all pitchers in mlb throws the most pitches out of the zone. So it’s gonna go really well for our guys today when they go and chase everything out of the zone.

Austin Hays does not have a walk in his time with the Phillies. He also has the highest chase rate on the teams and joining the team. That dude has been so Fing useless. Thanks, Dave.

October 9, 20241 yr Instead of watching them not score I’m just going to count how many swings at balls out of the zone they have today
