Moniak isn’t very good and syndergaard was at least usable in 2022. But yeah it’s not been a great track record. nola’s contract is bad cause only he and Yamamoto got 7+ year deals as pitchers. No one on the market was giving nola 7. I don’t believe for a second an organization like Atlanta was going more than 4 with maybe a fifth year option. They overpaid in years. They were better off just going snell 2 years and getting out of the contract after 2 years and seeing who’s on the market. Nola in years 4-7 who knows and it’s about $25 mil per year being eaten up

If he balked, I would have told him to see what he can get on the open market. If nothing was there that he wanted (there wouldn't have been), then he would have taken the Phillies offer. Bad negotiating by DD.

Frankly snell always missed time but if he was available for the playoffs I’d take his ability over Nola
