But some in the know seem to actually try to give heads up the surprise will be more about Fangio utilizing his Base D more. That Fangio had the players to go Base 3-4 or 4-3 was while not being such a weakness in coverage.

My way of reading things is Carter earned enough Fangio trust while been here long enough to understand D levels Fangio can trust him. Trot and Smael absolutely giving Fangio tools in depth practically demanding to find ways to get them involved.

But yeah….actually competition going on between these three. Trot looking real strong. Baun or Campbell replacement option either way. More than that…a guy showing he can play. So Fangio just find ways to get him involved.

Smael more natural in coverage. Georgia LB that fits in so well experienced with so many of our defenders around him. Really flying under the radar before beloved father Ax Man history especially. Baun we unleashed into elite top all position defender.

Jihad franchise committed to for real. Really went after as high entire draft class targeted. So…he’s getting every opportunity to do just all that. Ability without question all there. Team D completely setup around him not far from ideally. Jihad totally behind what should be fantastic…ideal….setup Dline keeping him clean. Really seems Jihad everything riding on whether he utilizes gifts to help or hurt.

Quick speed going towards overrunning everything? That’s the fear. But most everything already pouting towards he’s already minimized this as a key flaw.

Second huge determine factor being: how quickly Jihaad football instinct diagnosis play? Freak athlete speed headed in the wrong direction is a weakness not a strength. Football diagnosing instincts paired with twitch…with top world class speed? All that gone together talking Pro Bowl…Dream of All Pro.

I’m not 100 sold Jihad better MLB than Trot. Trot lesser elite freak measurables aren’t a holdup because he has football instincts. A guy that’s half a step slower on the track? All things equal can’t overcome and win comparison and competition. But Trot diagnosing play so much faster negates any measurable shortcomings. That half step slower in a vacuum absolutely irrelevant if Trot diagnosing football read faster. Just simply Trot a half step faster headed in the right direction due to football mind absolutely trumps deficiency gap. Trot is that guy..by all accounts!

I’m already fully comfortable tying the wagons to Trot. His limitations pretty much just about area of ground he’s capable of effecting. Not slow. With football instincts his speed is just fine.

Jihad more gifted. Can effect measurably larger area. He just can. Which concerning him is unreal for any DC to wield as his MLB. Or opposite to outrun as the option for any opposing OC. If you are choosing between that and Trot? Yeah you want Jihad athletic package with additional speed and ground capable of covering to win out as elite MLB guy. But…Trot elite football instinct challenging everything. Jihad gifted speed going in the wrong direction isn’t a benefit. Over running everything hurts doesn’t benefit. But heck…just breaking it down to decent extra half second difference on the read enough to negate measurable gifted talent ceilings.

I like Smael. Really good off ball LB in coverage. Absolutely compliment should turn to on gamedays in coverage at times from either Trot or Jihad.

Jihad going to get every opportunity to succeed. But competition nipping all over his heels. Trot can’t beat Jihad out by pure athletiscm gifts. But Jihad athletic twitch and gifts must translate on the field. His job to lose. Competition is fierce! Slow to diagnose and get going in right direction? Current Eagles post Rosie no invest and respect in LB ? These Eagles stacked with Lbs instead. Jihad overruns things…instead of utilizing speed to thrive? Cost him his starting locked down job. Pass or run? Read it quick….or Jihad athletic measure speed advantage negated.

These Eagles aren’t Rosie football philosophy flawed lacking competition at LB. Trot…or Jihad? Heck maybe even Smael. Clear starting off ball LB back then. Now? Competition demands earn the job or lose it.

Heck Lurie already emotionally displayed how attached he is to Trot. Owner would chose underdog in a heartbeat!

I'm surprised at this. It's such a complicated thing to learn and these guys have other priorities in their lives. Where do they find the time to learn blocking schemes?

Next to rocket science, football has to be the most complicated thing ever. I mean, do you move left, right, straight ahead, use a double team with the guy next to you. Sometimes you even have to pull to the other side of the formation. How do these guys remember all this complicated stuff with so little time to study?

Under Patullo last season Eagles snapped the ball with playclock expiring over 150 times

Are we planning to rest the starters in the preseason games? I know it not a super odd thing to do but did think with a new offense we might give them some live reps in a game.

I do know we have joint practices coming up as well and the coaches seem to favor these more for the starters then actual preseason games.

Guess makes sense to a degree can focus on a lot more situational stuff in joint practices v in the preseason while still getting reps against another team

I don't see any this Sat. Maybe they run a series with the 1's. Still sorting out who is actually on the team(but we basically know already). Siri will probably do whatever he has always done. IDK I don't keep track of that. If our #1 O functions vs our top rate D that should tell Mannion all he needs to know. I assume Fangio will throw them different looks to see if they are ready

We had to graduate MIT before my HS football coach would let us get our HS diploma

Practice can only do so much one of the biggest factors in football is missing in practice actually getting tackled. Especially for the QB.

We also seem to go through this every year where we don’t play the starters and the offense looks sluggish for the first few weeks of the season with actual game reps.

Sounding like MCII might be making a case to be the starter at S over Epps when Dejean is moved down in the slot.

MCII also like 3 years younger then Epps

Don;t we ask this question EVERY preseason? It's a new OC EVERY year and same answer. We all want the moment to mean something, but Sirianni has never played anyone in preseason. Why would that change now? I know it's a new offense, just like 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

All the other 31 teams do the same thing?

I know it's only preseason, but I'm excited for the game Sat. night. I'm always eager to see our new draftees. It's Elgses football baby! Anyone else?

Smitty, Lemon, Wicks, H. Brown, Cooper, Covey

I'm really disappointed Wilson didn't pan out. I had high hopes for him.

Don’t give up on Wilson yet.

Hurts was starting to trust Wilson. Like to keep him as a COP slot guy he's BIG target. I would take him over Covey. Ship in a battle for the 3. Picked up a new RB today. Let's see what he's got

Covey probably ends up being our punt returner again this year, so I think he makes the roster.
