Joe/Matt If I said "I want our offense to score 31 PPG" would you not assume that was a goal I had for them? Would I need to say "goal" for you to understand? And then have to explain what a goal was?

Which wouldn’t be relevant to you stating it as an expectation. Even then with most people you could just assume more what was meant. But with you being just so stat reliant…felt like expectation was exactly your belief. So long ago now….doesn't even matter. Enough points to win…whatever the case may be that game.

Of course then you switch to perfectly happy to dial back the O minimizing the scoring this past season. Easily could have been throwing up that over 31 ppg in 2024.

Nope we went on a run the whole time after Siri gave up running the O to Steichen. Steichen was saddled with being forced to run Siris O doing it…but yeah 2-5…then run to make the playoffs. Just crushing it the whole next season. Then kept rolling as long as possible from Steichen until the wheels fell off in 2023 because there was no additions, self scouting or adjustments being made any longer.

Johnson it’s a bit damning on just because nobody could seem to even suggest any answers to counter and adjust. Don’t think he had much real power. Patullo and Steichen were Siri guys and choices. Johnson never really felt like a Siri hire. Everything about him felt like Rosie fingerprints instead. Siri had great coordinators in tow with Steichen and Gannon. Throw Patullo in wherever you wish. Johnson hired as QB coach out of Florida. Do you know anybody with our organization that has a Gator connection? Somebody that could use his long time family connection to Hurts as reasoning beyond college alum favoritism. Steichen gets his own team…is there any track record of proof Rosie just lets the inexperienced HC mostly hired for his assistants in tow than on his own qualifications to be granted such power to pick his OC? Pedey won the SB and was fired for trying to just do that. While we’re at it…any belief Desai or Patricia were hired by Siri power choosing? It’s been Rosie’s team ever since AR departed. He hasn’t been shy about feeding his ego to make that clear.

Florida Gator hired QB coach then promoted to OC. Patricia hired even with strong existing beef existing between him and our top DB. Siri one step thinking approach wouldn’t get that far in formulating such a plan. Rosie all the way preemptively setting up Desai as the scapegoat flipping things over to Patricia. Patricia self interests completely invested in undercutting Desai every move…especially upstairs talking to Rosie. Any doubts Rosie would meet with Patricia to gather digging points before his after each game meeting with Desai?

What kind of relationship and connection did Siri ever have with Johnson? The outsider educated assumption is probably not real close. Most likely a butting of heads. Johnson and Hurts sharing a frustration with Siri O most likely. Something neither the OC or QB could do anything really about.

The Patricia hire made no sense at all. It was really strange and a very bad decision/move. Whose fingerprints were on that hire never were clear. No clarifying evidence exists that I’ve ever seen. We are left to speculate.

For the most part your bolded statement is true, but it definitely was not true during the time Chip Kelly was here. Roseman was stripped of his power during that period.

Anyway…you misspoke…exactly the reasoning for me saying anything about it. Came off as you’d be disappointed anytime we didn’t score 31 points. Which I even pointed out was right at the top NFL team scoring average the previous season. Felt close to every other conversation on how we differ about what’s important concerning the Eagles. I specifically made the point about don’t stat chase. Which fittingly was fairly defining about our Super season in 2024.

A masters degree is either accomplished or isn’t. Not comparable to football scoring where so many times victory is achieved not meeting your (now) stated goal. Wins and losses matter …they don’t give bonus credit for extra points beyond 1 over the opponent. In comparison they don’t give you credit for owing 3/4 of a Masters Degree. No real correlation other than I never had a problem with a goal of scoring a bunch. 2024 team goal should have been higher than 31 in fact. Potential was more.
