If im the Eagles, im not taking anything other than a 2026 1st.So ... I don't see a trade. Really ready to move on... but similar to Ham....you go off on a tangent and don't answer.... what do you want to happen with McKee?E=MC2.... if tree falls in the forest with nobody there.... let's put that aside, you can discuss that with the elite bloggers.I stated my position on that approximately 48 hours ago. I’ll go back and bring it forward for you. You must not have read it.Edit: it was actually 96 hours ago.

July 15, 2025Jul 15 Here’s an interesting take. How do you rank the importance of QB versus O-Line versus Defense10 hours ago, Freshmilk said:QBs are important, but I think offensive line is the most important factor in winning, followed by having a good defense. A great QB can't overcome having a poor oline and/or a bottom 10 defense. The majority of the teams fall in this bucket, regardless of the quality of the QB. Again, Mahomes has been his own bucket for a while. The Eagles broke scoring records in the NFC championship and SB combined, not because they had the best QB, but because they had the best oline and defense. In fact, many people picked against the Eagles throughout the playoffs and SB simply because they felt that QBs were the deciding factor, completely ignoring that the Eagles had a top 3 oline, top defense, top running game, top 3 WR/TE group. Howie has known for years the importance of the oline, he's finally come to understand the importance of a great defense rather than just a great defensive line. He knows those two units drive winning in the NFL.

July 15, 2025Jul 15 If anybody involved with our organization believes we are playing with ‘house money’ this season? Need to replace that guy.

July 16, 2025Jul 16 Joe, this is why accumulating Draft picks is a necessary evil.4 hours ago, bpac55 said:Hopefully everyone understands why Howie didn't keep any of the notebale FA this year and traded away CJGJ now. The money needed to keep this young defense together is going to be staggering.Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, Reed Blankenship, Moro Ojomo, Kelee Ringo and Nakobe Dean all need contracts in a year or two. Dean is the biggest question mark, but you can argue for all of them to be brought back.Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell will get there's like you said, but they can hopefully stagger those two.Howie needs to absolutely nail WR and TE over the next two drafts. Hate to say it, but in order to keep the young defense together, they might have to do a slow turnover at the skill positions with AJ and DeVonta when it's time to sign the rest. Time will tell but Howie has built an incredible team. How much of it can he keep together?

YOU CAN'T ACCUMULATE EVERY YEAR THAT MANY AS THERE ISN;T ENOUGH ROSTER SPACE. Look at how you are already planning for losing so many on cuts this year. Do ALL of the 3 OL and Keegan make the team this year? 4 OL drafted... already McMahan was cut last year... 5 OL Drafted the last 2 years... how many make the team? 2 more LBs drafted this year on top of Trotter last year. So many draft picks... plus UDFAs Again.... you have to look at roster building differently at each stage.... 13 picks after 10 this year ... already having a young roster... those young guys will have development. Contracts, I'm not worried about... Carter will get the big one. I'm not expecting Ojomo, Ringo or Dean to break the bank lol... Dean is 90% gone after this year unless he comes back on a cheap prove it 5th yearAnd again... WHY DO YOU MISS THE POINT OF ....IF THESE GUYS LEAVE THEN WE GET COMP PICKS!!! We accumulate comps picks just with the normal business of being where we are now with the roster... we won't need trades. There is no " necessary evil"
July 16, 2025Jul 16 I don't think people understand this exact position we are with our roster because we have never been here before. We won a championship last year while being on the way up... not already at the top or on the way down. We have a very young team. The 2023 draft class... going into year 3.... Carter = starterSmith = starterSteen = projected starterBrown = would need a rookie to beat him out as a starterRingo = projected starterMcKee = #2 QBOjomo = #3 or 4 DT, plenty of playing timeBut on top of that, studs locked in long term .... LT, LG, C all young Both WRs = youngThe RT and RB are locked in 2 or 3 more years. The LBs are all young except for Baun who is locked in 3 more yearsSafeties ALL youngCBs all young DTs = Davis going into year 4 has team option year 5, Carter and Ojomo are year 3, Robinson a rookieDE = Smith year 3, Hunt year 2. When in Eagles history has the roster been this young? Then when has it been this successful, coming off of 2 SB appearances in the last 3 years? This combo of youth and success, while still being built... NEVER have we been in this stage before. I think some people have been programmed to play GM a certain way because we have never been in this situation before. Usually we are looking for free agents to add due to a million holes or aging starters... or the lack of leadership/ winning culture. There is none of that now... and none of that should be here for a few more seasons.
July 16, 2025Jul 16 If anything is " house money" it's every draft pick after DeJean stepping up to get serious playing time. 9 picks last year, so 7 after DeJean, 10 picks this year... and 13 on the nooks for next year. That's a projected 30 draft picks that we will have in 9 months time, that would be selected after our 22 year old DeJean. If you want to not put Hunt in there... that's still 29 picks after him. we will have that in 9 months. Which team will have that many picks in such short time.... while already being at the top? With 29 picks... other than Campbell and possibly the safety we drafted round 2 along with addressing TE... we may not even have a need for a starter.... that's crazy! That is what one can say is " house money" If we lose players after this year and next year... that adds comp picks to 2027 and 2028 drafts. More " house money" So, why the need to worry about 2027 and 2028 drafts and trading for more picks .... is there really a " need" You could argue strategy there would be drafting less but making sure we hit the targets, like 2018 and 2022 ... 5 players each draft... Goedert, Maddox, Sweat, Pryor, Mailata and Davis, Jurgens, Dean, Kyron Johnson , Calcaterra. ... easily could argue that would be a better strategy than another year with double digit picks in a row!
July 16, 2025Jul 16 You could be an Eagles fan since 1933, 1947, 1972, 1995 or 2015 ... it really doesn't matter because we have NEVER been in this situation with the roster before....EVER. No protocol, no " back in the day I remember" no you don't, nothing like this before. Does it guarantee any success... nope, but again we have never had this young, talented, proven, still developing and locked in contracts on our roster.... ALL AT THE SAME TIME. While having all these draft picks coming up. Nothing that has happened in our team's history can give us experience to draw from in this situation, none of us have been exactly here before.... none of us.
July 16, 2025Jul 16 Cap space wise.... currently showing 9th most in 2025.... 13th most in 2026 .... and 21st in 2027 (at $95 mil of cap space)There are teams out there that will have to sign big contracts for UFAs... big ones without leverage, that will bring them down the list..... we have starters locked in and the ability for leverage on each player ... except Dean, Blankenship and Calcaterra (none of the 3 will be huge deals)IDK that we have been in better cap shape going forward???? Again, this situation with our roster is unprecedented really doesn't matter how long one has been a fan, this is new to all of us!

There is no " necessary evil"There are 69 roster spots plus Howie typically trades one or more of the draft choices over into a future draft. Roster churn … ideally with the lesser quality roster players beaten out by better players … is a standard NFL reality. They don’t call it the Not For Long league for nothing. The average NFL career length is 3.3 years. So in 10 years Howie has to find 159 new players for the main roster and 48 new players for the Practice Squad. With the above said, you are still trying to change my mind.

But you mentioned the cap as the reason for the " necessarily evil" with the fear of having to lose players..... so then how can we sign new players to offset if cap is the reason? The answer is simple.... the Eagles will control which player they want. You don't need 13 picks each year...certainly don't need to trade for them. Certainly if you plan on cutting all these draft picks anyway... certainly if you believe these are such quality that other teams are willing to give up assets for them.Basically, if our roster is so good that we will have such quality cuts.... have 13 picks next year who will struggle to make the roster ..why do we need so many more in 2027 and 2028?
July 16, 2025Jul 16 Now that said....anyone would be ab idiot not to take a free draft pick on a player that they plan on cutting. Where I may disagree with some on here. . I believe a guy like McMahon was shopped last year...along with plenty of others. I just don't think teams will jump at the chance at these players that they already had the opportunity to draft. Not to where they give up all these picks. I'd be happy to get one extra pick from " roster cut trades " .. my expectations are pick and player swaps... with the idea of getting a better draft position. Not really extra picks
