Partly because he’s had to be. Saquan just wasn’t fantastic at punching it in even though given ample opportunity. The Brotherly Shove is rough situation for Hurts to endure. He’s obviously just fantastic at it. As confident as I am in Shipley….i really can’t attest to his short yardage abilities…until he actually produces in that situation.

I disagree. Occam’s Razor … often the simplest answer is the best answer. The Tush push is elegant in its simplicity. Very few moving parts. Much, much simpler than a RB handoff. Why take on complexity if you don’t have to?

This has been the Passing Era and evolution of the NFL.

Yet we win because of our RB. You wanted to Zig, there it is

At least Dish shows that. not a big deal, but I dislike the NFL's ability just to move crap around at will. Especially in season where alot of people plan their time around a game being a certain day and time, only to have them blow that up at the last possible second. Just appalling. I handle big problems well, it's the little petty BS that drives me mad

Without diminishing our RB in any way, we win because of (1) our O-Line, and (2) our coaching staff’s decision during the Bye Week last season to play to the strengths of that O-Line and punish the opposing Defense, wearing them down and ultimately dominating them.

Although you can stop with just those two, not far behind is (3) the team culture, and (4) the on-field leadership of our QB.

Regarding RB2 here is an interesting pair of comments from Jimmy Kempski

"8/1: Shipley had a very good day. He smoked Jihaad Campbell on a wheel route that went for a touchdown. That was Jalen Hurts' easiest downfield throw of the day because of how open Shipley got. And for the second straight day Shipley had a nice blitz pickup, this time on a corner coming off the edge (I didn't see who). He also had a nice TD run in a red zone session. Shipley can play. To be determined if he can be consistent in pass protection, but I'm pretty confident that he will be an upgrade on Kenny Gainwell as a runner and receiver.”

"8/3: Dillon made a nice jump cut on one of his carries before getting to the outside. When he gets to top speed he looks like a scary player to have to tackle, but it takes him a bit to accelerate”

Also from Kempski:

https://www.phillyvoice.com/eagles-2025-training-camp-practice-notes-day-8-rise-awkward-moro-ojomo/

“• We haven't really mentioned Dallas Goedertmuch, because we already know he's a good player, but he has had a good camp so far as well. He caught a back shoulder throw from Jalen Hurts over Smael Mondon

• Hurts' back shoulder throws this summer have been money, by the way. He has found a nice blend of timing, anticipation, and ball placement on those throws, and they've had some heat on them. Hurts has always thrown a nice back shoulder ball, but he seems to be mastering them now.”

Speculation of the day:

I’m beginning to wonder whether Ana’s Williams will start the season on the Practice Squad and be the KR/PR as a PS call up on game day each of the first three weeks. He should clear waivers and make it to the Practice Squad. He doesn’t take up a roster spot that way.

Could be a shout that. Dillon is another who could be a PS guy? Apparently doesn’t need to be put through waivers so it’s a free hit for 4 weeks?

The defense is definitely not as low as #5.

Good point about the waivers!

It was merely a simplistic answer to Ham saying "it's a passing league and we should zig when others are zagging" and I was pointing out we already are zigging just fine, but we can zag with the best of them

You mean Avery Williams? I actually like UK's idea. It would allow 3 more weeks to decide what to do with MJ or BVS

I can accept that. Certainly in 2024 that was a huge factor.

With that said, it is worth mentioning that the ball control Offense allowed the Defense to (almost) always be fresh. In addition, for 2025 the changes in Defensive personnel makes its ranking a bit of an unknown compared to 2024.

Siri and my clumsy fingers on my phone changed Avery to what you see.

My ex lady friend is coming in soon for a little "extended visit". I was with her 12 years when I was 32(LOL). She is Dan Marino's cousin. Her sister is getting remarried in the western part of NC,so her daughter is driving her in and she will stay "until you kick me out" LOL

In addition,we also have guys returning that will be better than last year. Could be a wash. There is strong competition in camp. It's very hard to find a real weakness on this team

Really? You can except the #1 defense not being as low as #5? Lol... mighty big of you 🙄

Taking a stab at WR's on the 53- AJ, Smitty, Cooks, Dotson, Avery, Cooper, with Wilson or ASmith on the PS, the rest get cut

  • Author

Cooper- Finds ways to get open or give the QB a window. Strong runner after the catch. Elusive, albeit vs less than stellar competition. Needs to clean up his route running and make the breaks more crisp to compete at the NFL level. This can easily be done with our great coaches. An underdog with a chip on his shoulder. Small schoolers usually bug me alot. Q helped me change my mind. Give Cooper some actual snaps in game/garbage time with McKee and see what he can do. He has tremendous upside and if you are looking to the future, this kid COULD be a keeper. Even with the 2's, I need to see more vs actual NFL talent and not just our guys. His exposure to other teams players should be a telling experience I hope to see in pre-season. Of course he could fall flat on his face OR become a real weapon for us in time. I would not risk putting him on the PS at this time. JMO
