No was just changing terminology and assignments and what he was asking for players really tough on a rookie

It was insurmountable for rookie and vet alike…clearly!

For a rookie sure not for a veteran or it shouldn’t they been around the adjust far quicker then a mid fresh from college

Our D was terrible but if you going to ask me who made the biggest splash’s throughout the year it was definitely Carter.

And honestly that a good thing hopefully moving forward if he can build on it

You know he was the top guy on my draft board I talked about the entire season. It was really a 1A and 1B with him and Anderson. Wanted both those guys since the 2022 draft even.

Look I was fine with Reddick he was a good player a tier below elite if you ask me… honestly wanted to keep him Over sweat but we opted the other way

Carter was arguably the best talent in the entire draft only reason we got him was the off the field stuff…. Question is will he keep his head on straight

It was an unavoidable train wreck. No amount of experience could overcome that situation Rosie created.

And this is only accounting for 1 part of his job and that’s as a pass rusher and Reddick was only avg. at best as a run defender top that with being less effective rusher he wasn’t that great. Last year can blame whatever but simple fact is he just wasn’t our best D player last season

Honestly if it wasn’t for injuries thought Blank was playing great ball

So you are naming Carter as our best defender last season also? He was actually a backup….but you can have your opinion. Carter definitely had a strong start. For me our best player was Reddick. Highest expectations this season still would have been placed on his shoulders…you know…if he was still around.

Why do you have Reddick as best defender  ... in 2023?

Injuries really troopered through by him also. You could tell several games he just didn’t have that extra gear needed. He’s not as slow as he appeared in a few very critical moments. Had me questioning his limitations at points.

With Cox as the most consistent.  They went downhill once he went out vs Buffalo.

Cox was the vet leader for sure we asked a lot of him to cover for the young guys. But I took the highs of Carter to be the best player because when he was on he was just such a force

Zero sacks in 3 weeks to start the year mmmmmm

I'm not even looking at sacks...the edge guys are supposed to get sacks...you get some by accident playing edge.  You have impact ...forcing turnovers...stopping the run... pressuring the QB... making plays at key times.   Reddick was all that in 2022..  last year not really. Not even close!

Carter and Cox were the guys who were better last year.   The D went south when Cox was our, and then Carter never returned to form after playing 85 snaps vs Buffalo.

Not coincidence the D suffered afterwards.

At the highs for sure... the consistency though is a very key aspect of the game.  If you are asking me who eas the best ...To me I would say both... Carter with the special plays...Cox with consistency.

I don't have Reddick better than either.  Wasn’t as consistent as Cox and certainly didn't make the special plays like Carter.

I’m quite high on Blank said it numerous times throughout the year he can be a top S but can he stay healthy

But I wouldn't complain if anyone has one ahead of the other.

This is fair when I’m asked for the best I believe the answer is 1 or the other and you have to give it. Consistency is huge I agree but I expected highs and lows from Carter as a rookie just like I expected Cox to be that consistent force.

So at the end of the day opted for the highs of Carter since again if he can put it all together he could easily be a better DT then Cox who was damn good would have been the best if not for Donald(could argue Donald was not a traditional DT as well)

I’m fine with you voicing your opinion and all…but trust me…wasn’t a simple fact. I saw him as our best defender…even still…after considering all these negatives.

Carter didn’t even play half the snaps. Reddick played 3/4 of the snaps. Much bigger factor.

It was simple you can like the guy but no way you can make a valid argument he was our BEST D player.

His top job is a pass rusher he was a non factor half the season.
His secondary rule he was mid a best run defender.
did he force a ton of turnovers?

I honestly don’t know how you can say he was our best he was a great player sure but last year he was far from our best D player.  I truly wouldn’t hav even put Reddick over Blank

Carter played 600 snaps which was more then every DT besides Cox
