And honestly that a good thing hopefully moving forward if he can build on it You know he was the top guy on my draft board I talked about the entire season. It was really a 1A and 1B with him and Anderson. Wanted both those guys since the 2022 draft even.
April 19, 20241 yr Look I was fine with Reddick he was a good player a tier below elite if you ask me… honestly wanted to keep him Over sweat but we opted the other way

Question is will he keep his head on straight

April 19, 20241 yr And this is only accounting for 1 part of his job and that’s as a pass rusher and Reddick was only avg. at best as a run defender top that with being less effective rusher he wasn’t that great. Last year can blame whatever but simple fact is he just wasn’t our best D player last season
April 19, 20241 yr 16 minutes ago, cunninghamtheman said: So you are naming Carter as our best defender last season also? He was actually a backup….but you can have your opinion. Carter definitely had a strong start. For me our best player was Reddick. Highest expectations this season still would have been placed on his shoulders…you know…if he was still around. Why do you have Reddick as best defender ... in 2023?

You could tell several games he just didn’t have that extra gear needed. He’s not as slow as he appeared in a few very critical moments. Had me questioning his limitations at points.

Cox was the vet leader for sure we asked a lot of him to cover for the young guys. But I took the highs of Carter to be the best player because when he was on he was just such a force

You have impact ...forcing turnovers...stopping the run... pressuring the QB... making plays at key times. Reddick was all that in 2022.. last year not really. Not even close! Carter and Cox were the guys who were better last year. The D went south when Cox was our, and then Carter never returned to form after playing 85 snaps vs Buffalo. Not coincidence the D suffered afterwards.

If you are asking me who eas the best ...To me I would say both... Carter with the special plays...Cox with consistency. I don't have Reddick better than either. Wasn’t as consistent as Cox and certainly didn't make the special plays like Carter.

Consistency is huge I agree but I expected highs and lows from Carter as a rookie just like I expected Cox to be that consistent force. So at the end of the day opted for the highs of Carter since again if he can put it all together he could easily be a better DT then Cox who was damn good would have been the best if not for Donald(could argue Donald was not a traditional DT as well)

It was simple you can like the guy but no way you can make a valid argument he was our BEST D player. His top job is a pass rusher he was a non factor half the season. His secondary rule he was mid a best run defender. did he force a ton of turnovers? I honestly don’t know how you can say he was our best he was a great player sure but last year he was far from our best D player. I truly wouldn’t hav even put Reddick over Blank
