JJ Watt states he will return in an emergency situation for DeMeco Ryans

My thinking was along the lines of screwy weird quirky kicks that are hard to handle. Some kind of hard line drive being a real possibility.

Ball needs to land inside the 20, so can't be too weird.

So then do the guys lined up to block all hold their hands up to make this approach more difficult? Wonder what the rules are surrounding that?

no, you have to be able to move and block the whole field, that's 50 yards across, why would you hold hands to make yourself cover less space?

Remember the situation.   kickoff team lined up on the 40... the receiving team has to be between the 30 and 35, can't move until the ball is caught... they are 25-30 yards away from the returner, why would you hold hands that far away?  from a rules perspective, wouldn't that be a wedge anyway???

Hold hands up high…to kill the line drive kick

So forget about safeties anymore, game sucks more each f'n yr

Puts an emphasis on kickers that can kick "funky" balls with weird spins on them. We can even see "curve balls" like baseball

Weird too is that they either have to have "a play" picked out,or the guys at the line need to look back to see what the kicker has done. If they don't they won't know where the ball is and will need instant reaction times. I really think this new rules SUCKS,but I think every new rule SUCKS. Moving towards bubble ball as I said in '29. Moving away from a MANS game to the "man bun" game aka Wussieball

We're moving football to be more "soccer like", so we will appeal enough to the rest of the world so the greedy NFL can have teams all over the world. The "Man bun " league of gay caballeros. Rio, Paris, London, Manchester, Mexico City, Panama City, Toronto, Quebec City, Berlin and maybe teams from Norway and Sweden will be teams in the IFL (international football league) The winner of that league will have to play what we now call the SB winner in order to actually be called "world champions". I will be dead(TG), but you guys will see it. Ejections for ankle kicks are next LOL(UGH). The Lombardi will become merely a stepping stone to the world championship

He meant RAISED arms(aka hands up) not locking hands like red rover

But this raises a good question. if the kicker kicks the ball short(miskicked/shank) into their own players back what happens???

I'm deciding if I even want to play fantasy this year

And create a live ball situation for a turnover?

????   what changes would effect safeties?   22% of kicks were returned, 78% starting at the 25.  if anything the new kickoff rules should create way more opportunity for the drives to start inside the 25 now.

Should be counted same as fumble, not?

Going to be rough if a guy breaks through the line and your kicker is the only guy back to stop them 🤣 Also see alot of illegal blocks in the back as guys run down the guy who pops through. Getting to be more like a "scrum" with pads

No because every team would kick into their own players backs LOL. IDK I can't find this one out anyplace. Maybe a 5 yard penalty and they move the ball up for the receiving team?

https://www.nfl.com/news/new-kickoff-format-ban-on-hip-drop-tackle-among-10-rule-proposals-to-be-heard-at-annual-league-meeting  Here comes more "replay" delays when they flag a guy for "moving before the ball was touched" which will probably happen multiple times a game trying to "get the edge up"

I could be the new kicker because I would kick into my teams backs every time 🤣

So now we need 6'7 280 kickers who run a 4.3

So ... they are standing at the 40.... the return guys are say at the 5... Plenty of time to see where the ball is.    You look at 2 guys ahead of you, you can tell right away by where they move where the ball is.
