So always could have accurate line drive kicks that go through the holes in the defenders.
May 30, 20242 yr So another area I see grey area on this new KO: 7 return team guys must have a foot at least on the 35. Can have a max of two returners. So that leaves 2…or possibly a third guy(if only one returner)….that have to lineup between the 30 and 35. So you get two or theee guys with a bit of flexibility in how you decide to align for the returns.

May 30, 20242 yr You basically would want Stoll or Kelce type blockers up front. Guys that can lock on the opponents coming from a few yards away. Big immobile G types probably wouldn’t work. Gotta latch on in a bit of space to block. But don’t need the hands type players now. So smaller guys aren’t really needed on the front of the return.

But you could have your own players crouch over a bit if a lower line drive was your approach. You can’t control the return team however. Why I brought up just placing your hands up high for the block. You’re lining up between the 35 and 30 on returns. So this would cut down on the angle to land the ball between the 20 and endzone on a low line drive kick some.

If your hands hit the ball,then thats moving before the ball gets to the landing zone,so getting possession would be illegal since the KO team touched the ball first

I suspect there would be none anyhow,but if you muff the catch guys are alot closer now to be able to recover it. Your ST guys(kicking team) need to be those guys with quick cone and shuttle times. On the receiving end same deal,so I'm wondering what those times were on the players we drafted as some rooks will be pulling ST duty. Maybe we should get Devon Allen on the roster? Covey had some nice returns for us as well

But also... I would assume the kick needs to be much higher anyway... that's 15 more yards it has to travel and the ball would already have traveled 30 yards...one would think the blockers standing on their 35 yard line is the exact middle of the distance the kicker is trying to land the ball. So at that point it should clear the blockers by a decent amount. Figure the kickers want to land the ball around the 5... that's 60 yards from their 35. Halfway is the other 35 where the blockers are. Also I'm imagining the blockers need to avoid touching the ball first...if there are designated " returners".
