August 1, 20242 yr All just speculation until we’ve seen the play run in live action a million times.

But your mind can’t possibly fathom this occurring because they are five yards apart here. Sure stunts... again though... that's not a " gunner" But go watch.... the other concept you don't seem to get is they aren't lined up tight like a normal scrimmage play either. Just watch tonight...and then you can come up with your creative ideas. I think the big thing is going to be the line drive kickoffs.
August 1, 20242 yr I’m willing to bet the league even learns a few things and adapts the KO return rules some here before it’s all said and done.

The ‘gunner’ thought would involve having your kicking team guys sort of attack in a certain direction while having your specialist(gunner) come swooping around them. Like three guys going in maybe actually kind of blocking …on the kicking team side.

That's a pretty safe bet there considering they do that every year. The idea is they want returns...but in a way to keep the players safe. That's why it's simulating a scrimmage play.

August 1, 20242 yr Author Line drives-Elliott. Pop ups-punter,IDK if the punter can kick from a tee though LOL

Not the fast guy that runs down to disturb the blockers.. this is more pick type stuff...but again, not sure the spacing allows for all this...by the time the coverage team tries to attack a spot... the ball carrier could be gone.

Noone can move until the ball is touched 10 yards between players,so actually once they move you have less than 10 yards. No way can you have a gunner

Kick it past the returner by probably kicking it short of the returner….if that makes sense to you. Hard line driving kick that hits on the landing zone and zooms past the returner after skipping and bouncing.
August 1, 20242 yr Author Dang draft,I will miss the beginning of the HOF game. Hopefully I can grab a sneak peek

August 1, 20242 yr Obviously I’m just spitballing thoughts and ideas. I’m not remotely pretending to actually know.
August 1, 20242 yr Author I miss the OLD return game. It was exciting to watch, taking all the fun away

You need to kick it past them ...my guess it they try to kick it low and hard....to a point where it would land before the goal line betas close as possible... forcing them to catch a low hard line drive that may or may not hit the ground first. I don't think they automatically try to bounce it short of the returner due to the returner still being 60yards away and the ability to run up to catch it. The idea I see is more attacking the space between or to the outside of the returners.
