August 24, 20242 yr Author The seconday looks awful LOL. Pass rush looks ok but the young kids in the secondary are clueless
August 24, 20242 yr Author DeJean got beat easy outside(pass was bad). He is far behind the learning curve
August 24, 20242 yr Author Welp,Davis-Price earned a spot somewhere IMO, in a lackluster display of ineptitude. I liked his field vision and he has a nice side stutter step to shift position when the hole moves before accelerating though it. Different type of RB from Milton. I would give him a job on the PS. DeJean needs alot more reps . They tried him at various spots. Not sure they know what to do with him lol. WR's and TE's-saw nothing special because we were on defense most of the time. Can't evaluate what you can't see,so the staff has lots of hand wringing to do this week. I was expecting to see more. Ham should be happy,it was a defensive showcase. Secondary players were getting beat all over the field. The pass rush bubble players looked pretty good. More tough calls ahead. We will be cutting some nice kids with potential

Ross Tucker had the best comment...." lots of these guys will be playing the last 3 minutes of football in their lives" this was with 3 minutes left...lol. Any injuries to any bubble players?

Now I think they found their #1 and Mitchell should go along for the ride. I would go there Mitchell got taken 2 in front of me... I'm still waiting to pick...idk...at some point I need to mow some ..lol. I'm going with the Carolina WR...if he gets taken KC DST

Take emotion out of things and your mind will work clearer. Boston Scott pretty well came through every time called upon and did returns. I saw him as better player in every area but pass blocking than Gainwell. But Gainwell was Siris boy. So Siri didn’t give Scott the opportunities. We needed him he stepped up and scored 3 TDs when the opportunity arrived that game. Whoa hides paid…at what 2 mil at his peak salary…OMG breaking the bank. But Penny and Sermon were even behind him…so yeah of course I see carrying the 4th RB that won’t be used as the main issue. Hello….Earth to No Mas…that’s pretty much the key to the whole discussion in the first place. Only wanted to carry 3RBs. Especially with the 4th being nothing much. But then mentioned this year if we decided to only carry 3…to go with backups that brought different skill sets to the table. Pretty much like the Bronze Standard Chiefs.

I hope ASmith has a good enough game he doesn't get cut altogether. he has the goods he is just coming along slower than I had hoped. Could be him and a vet on the PS. IDK that we are ready to give up Covey. He is a jack of all trades like Gainwell I like Wilson more than Ngata,so I think Ngata goes. Still battles to be fought Saturday Think the idea is you get 53 to be in the roster…but can call up 2 from the PS. So numbers wise each game to dress you might actually being going with PS squad guys while those last couple 53 man spots don’t dress for gamedays. You don’t get 53 on gamedays. Covey is on the 53. He’s looked good as WR and P returner. An option for KO returns. But he’s tiny and fragile. Ainias might make the 53 and just not dress right now.

And compare Gainwell, Scott and Sanders... since neither will be on the Eagles....there won't be " Siri's boy" excuse. Then we can see how ehhh ...all of them are but probably Gainwell will produce the most. I’m hoping Gainwell is ready to play ball finally this season. He looks to be ready. But I’m higher on Shipley…sorry.

Kind of hard to trust putting him out there much in a competitive game situation.

We don't have expectations for DeJean? This was his last game? No expectations for pass rushers as BU's? SOMEONE has to do it,so why not see what you can see when you can see it? Last 3 minutes for some,NOT the last for others. That's why you play the game. I suspect the RB's we cut will be picked up as PS players by others. So maybe the last 3 minutes HERE,but not forever

Hope fully he could take that spot over and hopefully he is not needed outside yet But he’s not going in before the four ahead of him unless Q goes down. Like we discussed if it’s going with the best CBs on the field. Rodgers and Ringo they’ll play outside with Q in the Slot before DeJean gets on the field. But is Dejean the number two Slot CB? Game one vs Green Bay…Q gets injured…you think they play DeJean over Maddox? Maybe even a Ceedy combination manning some Slot? I’d go with Maddox right now.
August 24, 20242 yr I’m not trying to knock DeJean big here. Rodgers has been balling. I really like Ringo as a long term outside starting CB. Q is our best CB. You just aren’t benching Slay right now. But I also think Maddox does a good job in the Slot. The question isn’t his abort to play the position. It’s just been he can’t be relied on to suit up consistent enough. DeJean just tough not getting in his rookie TC. He needs to play some catchup here. I have questions about his readiness for prime time. Just don’t even have much to judge him on even. But it’s a good problem to have. Just have some talented guys to turn to right now.

What’s the difference in 3-4, 5-2, a 4-3 Under, 4-3 Over and a tight Slot playing Nickel? All of them could put 5 guys practically near the line with two off ball LBs.

Week 6,Q goes down, you don't think DeJean would be ready for a slot role? Why did we draft him(and move up) in round 2.to ride pine? Yeah he needs to play catch up,but he is smart and wants to learn and DO. He doesn't care where you play him. He just loves the game. Howie invested draft capitlal to get him,he's not going to sit around long,Howie won't stand for it. He did a return,I don't think he finds a home there. But he did his best in a game that didn't count.I'm sure the kid was thrilled to play(finally). BTW that hybrid D DeJean would be perfect for. He's big enough to help on run plays, fast enough to blitz. Q is fast, but a light weight. it's the fact we can now throw different looks and keep defenses guessing. Not the same old same old. Refreshing!!! I saw DeJean on both sides. He is big enough to cover a TE coming out on a route. Q? Not so much

The point was,we can give that look, then drop into coverage or blitz or stay for run support. it's a great look that is not predictable and something we sorely need(not to be predictable)

We'll see, we doubted Blankenship and he proved us wrong,or at least that he was better than expected, but DeJean has a much higher ceiling. He will eventually settle in to whichever position he is best at. We don't quite know where that is yet. Meantime we will give him work. He may still be feeling his injury some, but I was happy he got through the game
