OOOOOHHHHHH I wanna get my 53 in too...

QB (3) -- Wentz, Hurts, Sudfeld
RB (3) -- Sanders, Scott, Clement
WR (5) -- DeSean, Reagor, Ward, Hightower, JJAW
TE (3) -- Ertz, Goedert, Togiai
OL (11) -- Peters, Seumalo, Kelce, Pryor, Johnson, Driscoll, Herbig, Mailata, Prince Tega, Joriga, Opeta

DE (5) -- Graham, Barnett, Sweat, Curry, Ostman
DT (5) -- Cox, Jackson, Hargrave, Ridgeway, Rush
LB (5) -- Gerry, Riley, Edwards, Bradley, Taylor
CB (5) -- Slay, Maddox, NRC, LeBlanc, Jones
S (5) -- Mills, McLeod, Parks, Wallace, Ford

Specialists (3) -- Elliot, Johnston, Lovato

Notes

-- Biggest source of uncertainty for me on the list is at OL, specifically with Mailata and Prince Tega. Warehousing 2 project LTs doesn't seem practical, especially when the team doesn't even have JP as the confirmed starter or a decent backup LT. Is Cordy Glenn healthy? I think they like Opeta, but I'm predicting the team will ultimately use the roster spot on a returning Alshon.

-- I think Quez Watkins should make the team because he's looked good at times and I am pessimistic the Eagles will be able to field a healthy speed WR all year long. But with Alshon due back soon and depth/injury issues at other positions, I just couldn't hold a spot for Watkins.

-- Went heavy at DT due to Hargrave's injury.

--  If the Eagles think Toohill and Miller are at the same level, maybe they just cut them both and see who they can sign to the PS. That's what I'm predicting here, but I could see it going several different ways.

-- I don't know what to do at CB, but I never want to see Douglas try to cover a deep ball in single-high ever again for the rest of my life. Jones can also play inside, which is more valuable now that Slay will occasionally travel with teams' top WRs. Wouldn't be surprised if 5th CB ends up being a waiver claim/player acquired via trade.

-- The Eagles love them some Rudy Ford. I remember a graphic going around early in camp that showed the Eagles GPS measured Ford as the fastest player in practice (running over 23 MPH IIRC).

It's tricky trying to fill out a 53-man roster because a day later, you'll end up putting some of those guys on Injured Reserve and then re-signing a few guys that you just released. I'm wondering if Nate Sudfeld could be one of those guys that you release at the cutdown with the idea of immediately bringing him back once the dust settles. There would be a risk that a team would claim him on waivers, but I'm not sure that's likely. Teams already know who their backup quarterbacks are going to be. At any rate, if it's not Sudfeld, I'm pretty sure there will be a "shocking" cut that will simply be a procedural move.

Heck, you could even release Jason Peters since he would not be eligible for waivers. Then you could sign him a day later to another contract that was already agreed upon, presumably one that would satisfy him and enable him to be penciled in as the starting left tackle. (Wow, imagine if this were the actual plan...just think about how many fans would lose their minds the instant they saw his name on the cut list!)

There are a few guys they could do the procedure trick with. Curry is one. Ridgeway, LeBlanc are two others you can cut, don't go to waivers, and just tell them to hang on for one day.

That is why I got him. I've had beagles all of  my adult life and hunted rabbits as well as pheasants, grouse, and woodcocks over them. We trained and hunted with him for a few years but I couldn't break him of trailing things like deer and raccoons , so he just became a house pet and then I lost the desire to hunt small game.

Now I do not own any pets and plan to stay that way (never know but that's the plan). Too hard on me when they pass and honestly who knows the next one might outlive me which could cause issues to those (family) that survive me.

You have enough pheasants where you are to make hunting a worthwhile endeavor?   Hunting pheasants in the corn belt is great. Great flavor.  Toss up between pheasant and quail as to best game birds. Better than wild turkey.

Curry makes sense for this kind of move.

No, but you did used to run into a stray one here and there that the game commission stocked that survived. Pheasants are indeed delicious and yes I agree better than turkey

11 OL is too many. I don’t think we’ll carry five DTs either.

So no one made their 53 porn star roster? HE was supposed to give us his rankings like a week ago.

Anyone want to bring Josh Rosen into the QB factory? He's on the block but no idea of what their asking price is. I'd take him for like a 6th or someone we are going to just cut with no plans to bring back and kick Sudfeld off the team.

Agreed, although I think they'd be upset to lose Juriga or Opeta to another team. I also don't think you can go into the season with just 3 guys to play outside CB which is why I went with 6 in mine.

Want to make clear this is my initial 53. Going in to 2019 with 2 TEs wasn't sustainable either. I think they'll want 4 active DTs for as long as Hargrave is out. They could use the new practice squad rules for that, which I didn't acknowledge before.

Ultimately at OL, I think they sign a veteran T and move one or both of Mailata and Prince Tega off the 53. And I think they cut Opeta at some point in September, but not at cutdown day.

Losing Parks kinda hurts my theory but I don't think they would be shy with moving Mills back to CB in a pinch (after his check clears when he demands more money to play a new position, of course)

Was just thinking exactly the same thing. Paying Peters opens a whole potential mess for this football team that they should be desperate to avoid.

Well, Lurie said the other day we might need CB's to play WR, and RB's to play LB. Howie is going to have a field day redoing all these deals.

Seriously speaking though, I don't think they are just going to rip up his deal and give him a new one. I'm guessing he will just be their Week 1 without any report of a new deal and it will come out some of his bonuses were guaranteed or something. At least that's the approach they should take. It will be really disappointing if they Greg Ward this and just throw Pryor out there to the wolves.

I think it's something they'll consider in a pinch, but would really believe they would prefer not to do it if possible.  Haven't heard anything about him cross training at camp but it's kinda hard to rely on that. Even when they have a healthy number of CBs we've seen the CB3/4 get some playing time in the past.  I dunno I just think they'd prefer continuity as much as they can.

Peters is a future hall of famer who has been with the team for over 10 years.  Mills and other players know they don't have the same negotiation leverage that he does.  I really don't see this being the slippery slope that people think it will be.

Going off precedence, if we trade for Rosen it means we will be drafting Lawrence next year.

Meh - It's Jason Peters.  No one else is in the same position. Mills is on a one-year prove it deal.  His leverage is his play on the field.

We can the build up Rosen's value and then AJ Feely him to the Dolphins for a 2.

He would be fine as a practice squad candidate.  You can't sign him to be a back up unless you think Hurts is the clear number 2.

The way i'm looking at it,

positives: you get 2 years with him at 750k and 920k. He has some skill you could possibly build up where Sudfeld is at his ceiling and costs more. He might even be better than Sudfeld as it currently stands.

negatives: price to acquire has to be dirt cheap. Coaches need to focus on Wentz and developing Hurts. Rosen might just be overkill and not get the coaching he needs to be worthwhile. He's also likely never going to see playing time unless their is a PS next year, so it might be hard to impossible to flip him for something of value down the road.

Probably not worth it here, in the end. But maybe.

I think it's worth mulling over at least, but yeah it would require a few stipulations.
