Bizarre hypothetical: would you accept a high 2021 first round pick in exchange for a 0% chance of winning the SB this year?

Season still plays through, they may get to the SB, you just know they won't win it.  No one else knows.  Only you have this crystal ball.  You aren't making the team worse, making anyone's development fail, or triggering any injuries in eliminating this SB chance.  You are just creating this hypothetical absolute scenario where they won't win it all this year.

Are the odds low enough for this year that you'd take the pick?

Hats off to no one suggesting we pick up AP. We have defeated the brain eating virus that was rampant the last few days

AP doesn’t deserve to be in the NFL.

Yes

I would too.

This is the parallel to the old joke that a guy asks a woman at a bar if she'd sleep with him for $10,000,000.  She says yes, then he asks if she'd do it for $100.  She gets angry and asks if he thinks she's a prostitute, to which he responds "we've already established that, now we are just negotiating."

So now that we've established we are all willing to tank, the question is how hard and for how much?

This is a bad year for football and a great year to be reloading.  There may be no asterisk next to a title in the 4 major sports, but if your team is going to win 1-2 in your lifetime, no one would want 2020 to be the year it happens.  I know I know, take all the titles you can get.  But combine this dark and depressed season with some of the Eagles' own internal questions and the 2021 cap issues...and I really hope both Howie and Doug have one eye, 2 collectively, on 2021.  At some point, it's reasonable to take a couple hits to our SB chances this year to ensure a bright future.

That will be relevant to some pending decisions on playing time, roster cuts, and contractual issues.

Raiders and/or Raiders .....

I can just hear Gruden's voice now -- "Man, this Josh Rosen kid .... I'll tell you what, man ... this kid is something special"

Welcome to the QB factory Josh.

I am expecting a trade or two from Howie. he always likes to strike a deal a few days before the Holiday.

Nah, tanking involves making the team worse. Completely different than what your scenario suggests.

Thanks, you don't have to do that for every team it just frustrates me that I can't remember where they used to be posted, it was a great link.  New England or something like that but no affiliation with the Patriots.  Does anyone remember anything close to that?

Sidney Jones for Josh Rosen.  Fill that factory.

Google 2020 NFL Cut Tracker — it looks like CBS, Spotrac, and NFL.com are all tracking them

I know what you’re talking about. It was great for UDFAs, but I can’t recall the name.

I know we are now pretty filled at Wr with speed, but I could see Howie asking the Panthers to move WR Samuels for either Jones or Douglas with a late pick. Panthers have expressed a need for CBs and have been taking offers for Samuel since hes on a contract year, and bring in two WRs this offseason with there top wide out. Im not huge on all speed, but I could see Howie making the call to talk.

The problem is teams seem to be onto Howie and determined to not have him get the best of them. We haven't really seem him win a trade in a few years now and I think it's for a reason.

I just don't see it happening

It wasn't splashy but Cyprien for Riley and a pick upgrade was a huge win. Actually almost every trade he did last year was a win IMO

6th for Howard

7th for Ridgeway

6th for Jackson and a 7th

Hector for Ford and then picked Hector back up when he was cut

Bennett for a 5th was probably the weakest but he was a PITA

I think he won the Tate trade. Problem was they kept the wrong WR. From day 1 I said resign Tate and move on from Nelson. Most said I was crazy, keep the youth. We see how that turned out. If they kept Tate our WR core would be very nice. He was the perfect fit for this team with his yac ability, screens etc. If he had the offseason to learn the book, work with Carson he would have been a very good player for us last year and this year and well worth that 3rd rounder.

Nah, I'll just work the job that we agreed to.

Sure I agreed to come back and fill in for the ops manager at that pay level , but now you want me to do the job you kicked me out of for less money. Nah I'll be the ops manager, just like we agreed. I mean you're honorable too, right?

Other duties as assigned.

What happens if the team concludes that Prior is a better RG than Peters so they figure they can make do with Peters at LT until mid season when age and injury causes them to insert Mailata?  Prior is getting sixth round draft choice pay and Mailata is getting seventh round pay.  Peters is prime Peters.  He was more Nate Soldier than Tyron Smith (who is slipping too).

Maddox playing opposite of Slay is getting fourth round money.  Mills isn’t getting Malcolm’s salary. Gerry is getting fifth round money (maybe), Riley third round money but Edwards is getting the minimum.  Sweat is getting fourth round, third year money. Sudfeld is less than $2 million. Shady gets year 2 second round money.  Scott is getting sixth round money or the minimum, Goedert getting third year second round money, Ward getting minimum, JJAW second year second round money. All the draft picks getting first year, their round money. All are getting less than the minimum Peters can make this year.

I'm confused. Doesn't Boobie = Buck?

Boobie is Miles Sanders’ nickname.  I was suggesting that he is much greater than platoon Buckhalter.

Just put Peters on the PS where can make $10k a week until he's ready to play LT
