Because if he is able to play in two weeks (which he likely would) then they would play him because they have him as 2nd on the depth chart.  Rib injury didn't stop them from starting him this past week.

Don’t injuries deserve to rest?  Starters rest … why not injuries?

Idk I grabbed it off of twitter.  Not sure which one is more recent.

Mine is. It's - 3 Eagles and bet it moves to - 3.5 if not 4

This is a good description of why the NIL portal world College Football has entered is going to F up traditional loyalties.

Also true.  Its already dying a quick death in my eyes.  The complete upheaval of the conferences just makes me cringe.  There used to be multiple great conferences and bowl games meant something for conference pride and bragging rights.  But, now its just a mismash of whatever they can do to try to grow the bottom line in the short term.  And years from now we'll likely point to this as the turning point.

At this point, Im not upset with the decision to rest Barkley and the OL. 102 yards away, he can probably get in a half. But, if not, do you really want to play the guys that long? Fine.\

But now, Barkley sits not 2nd on the all time single rushing list. But all the way down at 8th.

I hated it at the time, and I hate even more now, the decision to sit him as soon as he hit 2000 last week.

He has 1 yard less than Chris Johnson, 3 yards behind Terrell Davis, and 22 yards behind Travis Henry.

Potentially with 1-2 more runs, or 1 more drive he would have passed all of them to become 5th all time right behind Barry Sanders.

He doesnt even have the best season among active players. Henry is still ahead of him.

They should have at least let him finish the game.

Rush him back? If he's healthy and ready then he should play. If for only a series. He'll have not played in like a month come playoffs

I know people fear injuries but what about slow starts in a wildcard game that has us losing?

It’s actually the same time frame Donovan and the starters missed in 2004. They were just fine against Minnesota. The biggest difference here is only Hurts has missed the time. Everyone else on offense has played to this point.

I thought they literally said he wasn't out of the concussion protocol?

Like the Salary Cap, concussion protocol can be manipulated.  There is nothing in the rules (that I know of) that says you MUST bring a player out of concussion protocol rapidly, just as there is nothing that says a player must be brought back from IR rapidly.

So if Jalen Hurts isn't ready for the wild card round you believe the Eagles would rest Pickett instead of playing him?

I think there’s merit to be worried about Jalen being rusty but we always have slow starts in games so maybe it won’t be so bad

Serious question  … given Fangio’s light boxes, how would the edge be set by a bending DE like Carter?

How is the edge set by Nolan Smith?   Same way.   The player reads the play and adjusts accordingly.  On a pass rush, you see them keep going upfield to get around the OT.  On a run play, you see them square up on the outside shoulder of the OT and keep them at arm's length.

They can't let Hurts heal up/rest without him in the concussion protocol?  Especially when they already stated they aren't playing starters this week.

2nd concussion in a little over a month. Strong chance he is not back this postseason.

They CAN but the don’t have to.  It really makes no difference to his resting if he is either in or out of protocol.  Rest is rest either way.

I still disagree.

yeah he is rusty every week.

The more worrisome thing is that they wont want him to run, or he wont want to run. Then, the offense will really suck. When there is no threat of his legs, he does nothing in the passing game.

Yea but we've seen Hurts have slow starts

I'm confused by your post. I was never arguing to bring him out. If he's not cleared then he shouldn't play

Here we go with ohhh the 90s basketball this 90s basketball that. The NBA has never been more talented than it is now and people wonder why it's harder to play defense. Just lazy dumb takes.

Today’s NBA is trash.  Travels and carries constantly, flopping, etc.  Nothing but teams jacking up 3s when they can’t get an easy dunk.

Well, one thing I can tell you is that in an early season interview, Barkley said that a goal he's had is to win the rushing title as he's never done it.   Well, mission accomplished this year.  He's won it, AND got over 2k.  Granted, the record was within reach... but alas, it isn't to be.

I wanted Saquon to get the record too but it’s the right call. Goedert will be back.

Eagles should be just about full health, minus BG entering the wildcard game. When attrition is everything at this time of the year, that’s a huge advantage. Now just hope they don’t play sloppy

Hopefully they hit during practices next week.

Just throwing this out there: If we rest everyone and the Giants win we screw them over really hard without losing anything, right?

And in most games, he’s overcome it. Including one against Green Bay.

I don’t think anyone’s going to really look at it that way.  Either you’re in the 2000 yard club, or you’re not.

I’m pretty sure that’s a wrap on Jalen Hurts career. He clearly has early onset CTE

As I think of rushing totals, I see it as a 3 tier process.

1 - Win the rushing title - check.

2 - Get over 2k yards - check.

3 - Break the record - was within striking distance, but due to their dominance this year... and ironically, ineptitude against Washington... the game affords them a "bye".

Yes. With a win they will likely drop down to somewhere around 8.

True but everyone was throwing out what ifs so I did too lol
