Looks like Maye is coming back in after his concussion check. Josh Allen got borderline KO’d earlier this season and came back. Hurts seemed fine last week but who knows what they found in the check and now he’s out again for tomorrow. The protocol seems to be inconsistent across the league.

Or perhaps he has failed the objective protocol, which becomes subjective for each player, since every one is different?  Not arguing to be a dick, just stating a logical premise.

The fact that they don't run the tush push with Pickett tells you the coaches believe it's a lot more Hurts and less so just a big beefy OL dominating up front. I think we all knew it was a percentage of the two, it's just what percentages the coaches attribute to each. Whatever the number, they believe the drop off from Hurts to Pickett is significant enough not to try it.

Which is Fing dumb. It's still a higher percentage play than a routine run. They better use it tomorrow if needed.

If McKee is active why not put him in for them since the guy is 6'6 230?

So tell Hurts that because they intend to have him run the ball, they will need to discount his contact accordingly?

Also, please provide examples of the lower cost, younger versions.  Can you actually win NFL games with a poor man's version of Hurts?

I see the logic behind your concept.  But teams will always pay top dollar for a QB that can lead them to a championship.  Hurts fits that mold.

The other factor is that for almost all the fans of almost all the teams … New England and KC being the exceptions … simply winning one Super Bowl is the Holy Grail.  We only worry about winning more than one after we have won the first.

Obviously it is very hard to tell and each case is unique but it it looked mild to me as far as these things go.

That was my immediate reaction … mild.  The trajectory of his progression through the protocol steps has been puzzling.

They had the camera on him immediately after he got up. I disagree. He looked completely out of it.

That FG looked no good tbh

I mean at the time yeah I’d have agreed… But a number of players have come back within a week this year and he didn’t.

Hard to tell no doubt but one week is one thing.  I'll be very surprised if he isn't cleared next week if they still need to win against the Giants.

Going to be interesting to see if the Boys come to play.  I have my doubts.  They were still not eliminated last week but they are now and in shutting down Lamb they have one foot on the 1st tee.

A poor man's Hurts is...what...Tim Tebow, Taysom Hill, and Tyrod Taylor?  If you take Hurts and make him a lesser passer, that's where we'll be.

I don't think you can win with them.  And of course we are going to lose and things will look worse when the backup comes into a game cold.  The real question is if we feel that Hurts is a replacement level (Starting) QB who can consistently get replaced by the Goffs, Darnolds, Mayfields, and Cousins of the world.  Those types of QBs (and like any other personnel move, you may make the wrong choice and get the wrong one)....but those types of QBs are consistently available for sub 250m contracts.

The standard SB winning blueprint is to start with your perennial all-pro 1st ballot HOF QB.  The crisis franchises face isn't just that QB contracts are inflated...it's that, over the length of the contract, the differential in cap hit between the top 2 QBs and the top 15 is tiny compared to the differential in their play.  So if you want to be a team with the most stacked roster in the NFL and a QB who passes less, you'll need more available cap resources to keep that team together and the 250m QB is money poorly spent.

The Eagles are in the stage where Hurts' cap hits haven't accelerated yet.  Once they do, they will not have this kind of stacked roster, Barkley will be gone, we'll have to throw 30 times per game again, and we'll be back to being a 2nd tier team.

ESP pretty much slippers up and dropped the n word on WIP just now.  Was trying to say Nick Ertz but for some reason stopped himself before saying the tz part of Ertz and then said their names again and this time saying Ertz on full.

Maybe consider running the tush push with either Gainwell or Barkley as the QB and the other as the RB.  It's not a deceptive play, the defense knows what's coming, so there's no harm in having a position player at QB on them provided they can execute it.

That's the concern.  We've seen multiple dropped snaps on the Tush Push this year already.  And that's with the 'regular' center and QB.  I'm not sure they have confidence with someone that's not used to taking a snap from under center doing that.   Then again, Hurts isn't really that used to taking a snap from under center either based on how infrequently they do that.  But, it would be even more risky with Barkley or Gainwell taking that snap.

And a number of others haven't.  It's a very individual thing.  My nephew and niece both ended up getting concussed recently.  One dropped a transmission on his skull, the other banged her head hard on a basketball court.  My nephew actually returned to baseline faster than his sister who 'merely' bounced her head on a basketball court.   There's no 'normal' with concussions.   I had a student years ago that fell in the stair well, and what seemed like a minor issue at the moment it happened... turned into him not being able to attend school for the next 9 months due to the headaches that came back constantly.  Each situation is different, and that's why the protocols aren't time related, but event oriented.

Texans Chargers would probably be the lamest wildcard matchup of the playoffs.

More DeJean at punt returner, can't believe Fangio approves. Good news is Huff is back.

Covey back to IR.  DeJean going to have to do punt return the rest of the way.  Might be it for Covey's time on the Eagles.

People react differently. I’ve seen some fans (not here) suggest that the league is keeping him from playing because the league fined him for the shows but the bill was picked up by the shoe company. Some crazy tinfoil hats out there lol

We’re lucky it wasn’t as bad as Tua. Or even Wentz

Oh I absolutely agree with you. Each one is different and there’s no normal… I just think given he’s not been cleared yet this could rumble on. At the time he was sure he could return but he was ruled out and I just wonder with this.

If you’re still clinging to the hope of the Eagles getting the top seed — and I fall into that category— you should be rooting hard for the Bengals and Rams today. We beat both of those teams whereas the Vikings beat the Cardinals. The strength of victory tiebreak figures to be pretty close and today basically encompasses a swing of three full games.
